I don't think many are saying Quinn shouldn't play out the rest of the season...but it's pretty obvious qb is a problem with this team

Announcers can say manning wouldn't do well here...and they are correct....what they don't say is if Indy would still be undefeated with Quinn or DA at the helm...I tend to think their record would be close to .500.

In the long term, any qb on our roster is going to limit this team.

ballpeen

Reply to 23.5 on Wed, 18 Nov 2009 11:18:58 GMT

@<bdi>tim-couch-pulls-out</bdi> said:
It doesn't matter how much money is put into our O-Line, they're only as strong as their weakest spot, and last night that was Eric Steinbach, plus the entire right side.

Ah, it's the Ghoolie argument, just put DA back in and the o-line looks SO much better. Well, so what- Anderson completes lots of errant passes to the other team because he's in such a hurry to unload the rock- that is, when he's not fumbling the ball away. BTW, Jaworski said Manning or Brady would have sucked behind the pathetic showing our o-line put up last night.

We gave DA three seasons to conclusively prove he blows, (BTW, where IS Lumbergh lately?) Quinn certainly deserves the next seven games. Ratliff sure isn't going to be the answer either- since the season is in the toilet, we at least need to see for sure if a new qb is on our shopping list for next year.

hoorta

Reply to 23.5 on Wed, 18 Nov 2009 04:50:01 GMT

@<bdi>pumpkin-eater</bdi> said:
I wish you were right. But the deep throws out of bounds really makes me wonder.

Sure Quinn would do better with better WR's. We probably have the worst WR's in the NFL. We had Winslow & Edwards which we let go (maybe the right choice, maybe not). Sadly we will see that Detriots Offense isn't really that bad when its clicking. Their D and O have more promise then our team, and I REALLY doubt we pull out a win in that game. I'd be suprised if we scored 10 points.

A good QB would make a lot of difference here. No opposing team in the league has even an ounce of respect for Quinn. They blitz him without a concern in the world that he can beat them on jailbreaks.

I saw defenders shoot the gap and flop on their bellys at his feet, instead of floating in the pocket like he's been over-blown to be capable of, he panicks and throws the ball for dear-life.

Anyone know where I can get a chart that shows where his passes were thrown to? You know, like the shot selections the show in the NBA with dots on the floor. I would have to guess that about half of Quinn's passes were behind the line of scrimmage and the puke still couldn't complete half his passes.

He is 10x worst than Tim Couch was. Very similar players in that they have no vision down field and an all out blitz is very effective against them, but at least Couch looked to the 0-12 yard range, freaking Quinn don't even have vision beyond the line of scrimmage.

The way I see it, even if all the right personnel moves are made right now, it will be 3 years before we have a respectable club. There is no foundation to build from right now. I cannot see any bright spots right now. Can anyone else?

Kingphisher

Reply to 23.5 on Tue, 17 Nov 2009 17:20:26 GMT

@<bdi>the-gipper</bdi> said:
Maybe we can get Gruden to coach? I signed on after I got home from the game last night and there wasn't a single thread about Quinn.

Looks like we ousted the right whiners from this site ... much, much better dialog today.

With that said, I've already seen enough of Quinn (again). That kid is horrible and complete not worthy of this league.

I have no clue who we turn to now ... Ratliff would be the logical choice I suppose. I'd rather watch grass grow than Brady Quinn throwing passes behind the line of scrimmage for 60 more minutes.

I think the answer is that whomever you have to play QB, DA, Quinn, Fritz Pollard, you need to get him some weapons and you need to get him some protection, expecially on the right side of the line. Dan Marino could probably do nothing with this surrounding cast.

The Gipper

Reply to 23.5 on Tue, 17 Nov 2009 17:16:51 GMT

@<bdi>samoth</bdi> said:
Maybe we can sign Gruden or Jaws to play QB, it couldn't be much worse and at least they'd recognize a blitz.
