Word has it Cowher will accept and is assembling his coaching staff.

Jim Zorn gets fired after a 4-12 season. Bears fire 6 from staff - Lovie should have been let go as well but....

Mangini has to be fired and his whole coaching staff. Get rid of them. I would not keep people around who think 5 wins is acceptable. If Mangini would have lost both games to the Steelers the fans would be calling for his head. He beat a shitty Pgh team this year and keeping him around for this is rediculous.

I don't see why Holmgren would take this job unless he was prepared to CLEAN HOUSE and get rid of the people who think 5 wins is a great job over what Crennell did.

Boot Mangini and let him go sell someone else on his time spent with Billichick. They guy is an unqualified crybaby and does not have the leadership skills and intelligence to hire an appropriate staff. His record with Cleveland and the Jets speaks for itself. LOSER!

Holmgren needs to set the tone right away and nothing but a total clean out and rebuild will work. I do not think he wants his legacy based on Mangini and what he did in New England with Billichick.

Reply to Holmgren needs some balls and clean house on Wed, 06 Jan 2010 12:21:31 GMT

Holmgren needs to do what is right for the organizations future rather thats retaining the genie or moving on to new pastures..mangini has made some really horrific mistakes over this past season that he will be asked to account for..and he by no means has a lock on his job...

The prez obviously wants the coach and unnamed gm to be on the exact same page not even a sentence behind or ahead...its up to the genie to either comply or decline...holmgren wants a tight reign and doesnt want an embattled staff and it appears he wants a coach that he doesnt have to keep eyes in the back of his head with...and im very comfortable with "the big show" running things and will back whichever route he takes as long as it leads forward...

Gips

Reply to Holmgren needs some balls and clean house on Wed, 06 Jan 2010 08:32:18 GMT

@<bdi>hoorta</bdi> said:
Press Conference: Holmgren came off really really well.

Mangini brought:

via draft: darrelle revis- pro-bowler cb and DPOY candidate, whole o-line besides fanaca and woody, Brad Smith- if you watched the Sunday night game, nuff said, Leon Washington- jets version of cribbs, Harris- lb jets tackle leader,

Via trade/FA: Kris Jenkins: DT big reason why jets run D was #1 for past two seasons, Fanaca and Woody- now arguably the best o-line, Thomas Jones- rb leading the #1 run offence.

1) Farve= injured last 4 games last year, and wouldn't admit it.

2) Edwards= a whopping 30 catches after the Browns traded him ranks- 55th in the NFL in receptions, behind guys you've never heard of. Positively stellar for a #1 wideout- NOT! Still dropping passes left and right that are hitting him in the hands, including a critical two point conversion. Would rather sit in high class NYC bars and try to impress singers with $2,000 bottles of champagne than bother getting home at a decent hour and concentrate on football.

3) Winslow= Led his team to a stellar 3-13 mark (two less wins than the Browns) and is running on a shot knee that's due to totally give out in another season or so.

For me it is all about Mangini's attitude. I believe he came here thinking he was a great coach. That he didn't have to prove anything to anyone. I also believe that he didn't take care of this team. They should have been ready to go at the beginning of the season, not the end of the season. It's not all his fault. However I feel he believes he doesn't have any faults.

I also don't see how his attitude is going to work with Holmgren. He wanted, like all coaches want, total control. Unfortunately he did such a bad job the owner had to bring an adult in to supervise. His authority has been compromised. As of today this isn't his team anymore. I don't think he will go along with that for very long.

AskMeLater

Reply to Holmgren needs some balls and clean house on Tue, 05 Jan 2010 21:24:16 GMT

nice.....awesome thread.....
