  • Steelers/Redskins tonight, right? In keeping in tune with the title of this thread, how often do you wish to see the meat wagon deployed along the Steelers sideline?

What I want to know is this turn into the RGIII show? Did Suzie Culver kiss his knee or his ass during the game? ESPN has been pimping the guy so much, I want to puke.

RG3 is a great talent BUT he can't keep his mouth shut (nor his father) and is quickly becoming a diva and ESPN will latch on to anything when someone like him speaks to the media. wait until (if it already hasn't) the johnny 'football' manziel show.

    talk about sickening.

ESPN flat out sucks; essentially is a DC and New England regional network. I am really impressed with FS1 and their gameday line up for both NCAA and NFL looks to be much more palatable than what those idiots in CT have to offer

i live in NY and i hate the fact that (even when they do good....and it's been a long time) there is no mention of the browns, although ryan russillio and danny kannell (filled in for mike and mike in the morning on friday past) called brandon weeden the MVP so far of the preseason and they actually showed more highlights of the game against detroit last thursday than i've seen in years.

ESPN is not DC and NE. ESPN is a bandwagon sports network. they have broadcast TV in LA as well and sports radio in every major city (probably one in cleveland). they only report on teams that win or hold a major marketplace (NY, DC, LA, Dallas, Miami etc.). they might show a clip of the indians game or a highlight of a player making a great catch but that's about it. what do you think the people in KC or San Diego think of ESPN? same as most of us browns fans i would think.

when lebitch played for the cavs and they were winning tell me they didn't report on him every night.

you gotta win to get in.

Outstanding points; I stand corrected....but they do seem to have an odd fascination with the Yankees and Red Sox...not to mention all things Tom Brady and the Patriots

however, you are most correct with the bandwagon comment 100%

being in my home office all day long with the tv on in the background i always start the day off with sports tv be it espn's mike and mike or here in ny they have the madison square garden network and it's mostly all ny team news but they also report on any national that makes the news. they also have better hosts in boomer esiason and craig carton who will rag on people which makes it much more edgy and entertaining. but the news about the yankees (who i hate) the jets, mets, rangers etc. can be overwhelmingly nauseating and now with all the ARod shit going on, it's all you hear about.

    blech.

BTW didn't you know tom brady is the golden boy? the only team i'll root for in that division is buffalo cuz they are a blue collar team/city just like the browns and have shit the bed like we have since whenever.

    peace.

Yes, ESPN will report on teams in other cities...when they win.....but, they will report on things in NY and Boston when they are doing absolutely nothing!

They will spend hours of air time on a silly Jets QB issue (like Geno vs. Sanchez)...and spend not one second probably on a QB controversy in say Minnesota or Detroit.

And though they may spend some time on the Ryan Braun issue, they will spend 25 times more time on A-Rod.....because he is a Yankee. Do you think they would bother much with him if he were a Ranger or Mariner? Miguel Tehada just got suspended for 105 days....and barely a peep out of ESPN.

No, they just seem to be more and more a "local" sports network. NY/Boston Boston/NY.

I may have to spend some more time watching this Fox sports network....at least to compare.

denver is hurting and i don't care what any sports reporter says on tv. they will be lucky to be 3 and 3 when he returns (he might get 2 games shaved off the suspension but he's still not in football shape) and san fran also.

2 major teams thought to be super bowl favorites hurt right out of the gate. let's see how it plays out.

i know one thing after seeing that game last night. pittspuke will be VERY lucky not to finish last in our division.

Why are people putting any stock in what goes down in the preseason? The first series of the game for the Steelers was run, run, run. It's no coincidence that the first deep throw down field was with Landry Jones our 4th round pick. The preseason is for coaches to put players in live situations for the sake of evaluation. Go back through the last 15 years and highlight every team that won the super bowl that year and see how they did in the preseason. I figured you were smarter than the above at this point. The preseason means absolutely NOTHING. Shark Thomas looked great, Jarvis Jones also looked very good and Wheaton showed he could get down field. On top of that Manny Sanders is possibly showing this camp he's the best receiver on the roster. Hell you guys must be Super Bowl BOUND! with the way things have looked in the preseason for the Browns. Hilarious.

Amen, Bro. One other point about ESPN's bias-and then I'll shut up. Come April making the playoffs time- all you heard about was WILL THE LAKERS MAKE THE PLAYOFFS? Like it was their God given right every year. Not a peep about Utah or the other bubble teams though.

    flash and splash. marketing 101.

i'm not pro espn by any means but outside of ohio you'll be lucky to find one store in any other state carrying browns gear, and i hate that and have for years. the browns FO have been sitting on their hands for over 2 decades without pushing their product to national vendors. and for all i know, they've tried. i mean who other than a browns fan is going to walk into a moddells or sports authority and buy a brandon weeden jersey here in NY? first off you'll never find one (thank god for the internet), and if you did it would be in the clearance section because they bought 200 and distributed them to stores throughout the 5 boroughs and westchester only to find out nobody wants them and it becomes dead stock. so why pull the trigger on buying anything else browns? so i'll continue to see cowboys, steelers, dolphins jets and giants gear. because that's the teams all these bandwagon fans root for. they grew up watching football and latched on to the winners.

the simple answer is winning. if we are 10 and six and going to the playoffs, believe me you'll hear about the browns on espn, on fox and cbs.

of course there is a bias for the lakers, the celtics and now the miami heat. you know why? cuz they got banners lining the rafters of the building they play in and some of the most exciting/famous players on their squads.

So? You are saying that the good preseason performances of Jones/Wheaton/Thomas should be looked at as meaningless?

Or are you saying that good preseason performances mean nothing if they are by Browns players, but not Steeler players?

That is what it sounds like you are saying.

So, I guess if things are hilarious, then you are laughing at yourself, nay?

Agreed only to the point that teams go perfect in preseason and flop in the regular season. Oppostite for teams dooing poorly in the preason.and finish strong in the regular season. Despite all of that and the players you mention... Even you have to admit your Oline looks ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY PUTRID!!!! You should definately be concerned..I but I hate to tell you...your team is not nearly as good as you think it is...But keep your nose buried in bens jock...your good at it.
