McLaughlin has more impressive stats & background than Santoso. In addition, the Giants want to trade him & I don't like trading for kickers. I'm not making those decisions (nor am I capable of doing so), so we'll just have to wait & see what happens.

  • We sighed kicker Stephen Gostkowski.

  • Maybe not. There is a question mark there.

That guy’s just speculating on signing Gostkowski. I don’t see it happening because he doesn’t fit the Braveheart kicking room at all.

    yup lol

  • In taking a bit of a closer look at Chase, the misses early in 2019 all came in his first four games in the NFL. It makes the career line a little dicey, but-

In his last 11 games, looks like he only missed 3 kicks (with one being blocked) and 1 extra point over 19 and 32 tries, respectively. He's been with the team, I'm fine seeing what he can do for week one. Also hit two 50 yard kicks.

  • Lets stop the bullshit.

I learned something here. I always thought being placed on IR was a league specific thing, meaning he can’t play on any NFL team for the rest of the season. But apparently it’s a team specific thing, so it only means he can’t play for the Browns for the rest of the season, but conceivably could play for another team later this season when he heals up.

You would guess that the college ranks, in all divisions,  could or would crank out more qualified kickers to fill the new NFL needs.......I guess not.

Not that bad of pay any more ranging from Justin Tucker BAL $5,000,000/yr for the best to $660,000 for guys that don't even start.  Number 31 (3) is $808,333 not bad for a last place starter.

I don't think there is a lack of kickers.  There are a lack of opportunities.  Teams don't change kickers once they know the guy even if some rook comes in and looks great..  If it ain't broke, don't fix is applies with kickers. There are 32 jobs available and in any given year you might have 2-3 jobs that are really open.  Add in that kickers who get established play for 15 years, maybe more and it show just how few jobs are up for grabs.

Pretty much the same for punters. Not a huge turnover.

  • It seems that finding a consistent kicker is as hard as finding a Franchise QB.. They are both on opposite ends of the spectrum so to speak...

Well....at least we've gotten a lot of practice at 'going for it' on 4th down.
