    Absolutely.

We used to play Euchre alot or Hearts for cash in college.......way back when.   Great memories.

  • And even though I know there's no difference I think hearts and Spades are worth more than diamonds and clubs.

If you're playing hearts or spades they are important,  the others are basically just to take tricks and play out the hands.

I also like 500 bid, poker among others.

I mostly played Euchre in college a little bit of hearts.

Learn to play bridge but never had all four guys together at the same time. Seems like I would like pinochle but same problem.

I played a lot of spades in college, but spent a year after Vietnam with my Grandmother teaching my wife and me how to play bridge. She was a life master player and was really quite something. I learned the art of defensive bidding to deny opponents shots at vulnerable slams. I will never forget having a two level opening with hearts and she shut off our communication with a 6 club bid as the player to my left. And damned if she didn't make it too. She explained afterwards she was doing it to deny us a vulnerable slam or baby slam. Plus she had no hearts and knew those tricks would be worthless to me in trying to set her.

I still have a couple of new blue ? bicycle pinnochle card decks still in cellphone at least 40 years old...... can't find people who want or know how to play.

Same with canasta and many old board games.

  • Spades in the Army 1971/72,   Pay was shit and was gone soon so that was about all there was to do.

  • question - in the game of hearts what is "shooting the moon" and how is it an advantage?

or rather, how does it affect scoring?
