CUTS
-
- - center
- d-lineman Sonny Harris (I like his upside)
- linebacker Bruce Davis ('08 3rd round pick, didn't transition well to OLB)
- cornerback Anthony Madison
- RB-FB Carey Davis (can serve as a short-yardage back)
- RB Isaac Redman (physical back, but lacks long speed)
-
Wouldnt mind Leonard Pope or Trevor Canfield that the Cards just released, maybe Victor Hobson too...
-
Hobson was cut, so was fransisco(s) spot starter last year for AZ...
Arizona Oliver Ross T Cut (not a bad RT)
Kansas City Damion McIntosh T Cut
Kansas City Travis Daniels CB Cut
Also Melvin Fowler cut yet again...Where's rich when you need to beat him up!!!

I'd like to get Pope and Bruce Davis.... Aloy...they got maroney, taylor , faulk, morris ...they gonna keep 5 rb's?

Put Bruce Davis on the I Don't Know Shit About Shit side of my ledger. I really wanted him.Don't worry. It happens to the draft-geekiest of us. Hell, I used to be a big D.J. Shockley fan.

Mike Reiss is projecting them to keep five. But if one is cut, I'd expect it to be Morris: he makes twice as much and is eight years older.

Colts cut DE Marcus Howard. Probably not a good scheme fit for us but is a freakish athlete (ran a 4.47 at the Combine).
It'll be interesting to see where he ends up. I bet several special teams coaches are lobbying to bring him in.

What are the rules? If someone is cut by another team do you have to sign him to your active roster or can you sign him to the practice squad if you are low team on the totem pole? Is he essentially a free agent?
-
Brian Russell got cut by Seattle, I say bring him back. He may not be fast but he was a beast at safety.

NFL.com's Jason La Canfora is hearing that Jaguars OL Tony Pashos might get cut:
Jason La Canfora said:
Tony Pashos has starting tackle experience, but he has been moved inside by the Jaguars. He is set to make $4.3 million this season, and for a team that doesn’t have a big budget and is looking at blackouts, that could be an issue. A team like the Seahawks might end up making sense for Pashos via trade or if he is released, given Seattle’s offensive line woes.According to former Browns/Ravens scout Daniel Jeremiah, the Browns are a likely suitor:

If JAX cuts RT Tony Pashos, I can almost guarantee the Browns sign him. Kokinis loved him in BLT. Both Greek by the way...Aloysius said:

They would have to do something drastic to clear some Cap space if they want to make a run at Pashos. Fraley, Heiden or another veteran with a big salary?
-
If Pashos gets cut, he may want to sign a one year, prove it deal, then get a big deal in next year's potentially cap-free offseason. That would make him somewhat more affordable.
-
Ravens cut Cedric Peerman: high character guy who's a very good receiver out of the backfield.
Should be interesting to see if he clears waivers.

I simply don't get the obsession with Russell. Dude was frozen yogurt, at best.
You know, a suitable proxy in a pinch, but far from the real thing.

Guys with only a few years in the league first go through the waiver process; if you claim a guy then, he has to go on your 53 man roster.
However, if no one claims him, you can then sign him to your practice squad. Technically, you have just as much an opportunity to sign him as the team who cut him, but guys tend to prefer to stick with the team they were with in camp.
But in some cases, a guy is so offended at being cut that he declines an offer to join that team's p-squad, instead signing elsewhere. Former FSU LB Buster Davis did that a few years ago when the Cardinals cut him.

Yeah, but when he was in the game, our secondary was usually where it was supposed to be. No blown assignments. No sweeps getting around the corner. No wide open middles for draws to blow up into. No safeties not covering the over for tight cover corners.
So maybe he hasn't the physical skills to stack up at this level... but he has the smarts for it.
