BROWNS OUT OF WATSON RACE
-
With that said, it's also 22 different women and that... is hard for me to ignore. But I'm reminded of that kid from USC, can't recall his name. Was recruited, accused of rape, convicted then locked up. Several years later he got his accuser to confess she lied and he was released. By then the damage was done though. Kid missed his college development, experiences and ultimately his shot at a sustained NFL career. If he was convicted off the testimony and flimsy evidence of one woman, how was Deshaun not even charged based on the testimony of 22?
I ultimately don't have an answer. My heart says I wouldn't put up with the clown show and media that comes with Watson's baggage. Along with my gut just telling me to stay away from someone like that.
It isn't my decision, sadly. Otherwise this isn't a position I would put my franchise in. Which is why I'm speaking of it purely from a football perspective in my evaluation. Hell, if it was my decision the Browns wouldn't be in this spot to begin with. My track record of picks is better than any GM we had from 2010-2018.
Lost in all of this is the players on roster, some of them fathers themselves. And it is those men Deshaun will have to answer to the moment he should set foot in Berea.
Specifically to the bolded, let's not get it twisted. Texas is backwards as hell when it comes to women's rights. I can't find it in a quick search, but at least two of the victims spoke out about how they got the classic "well were you asking for it" speech from the cops in presenting the evidence of their abuse. Injustice is unfortunately a two way street.
I get it's not our decision to put him in a Browns uniform, but it's our decision to not support the team, the organization, and the morally corrupt owners who would even consider allowing this man into the building. I just hope it doesn't come to that, but it's an easy decision for me if it does.

May want to check into the Harris County DA. A poster on another board that practices law there said he wasn't surprised a bit about no grand jury indictment. Not exactly sure what he meant by that, except he mentioned that if he gave details he would likely be banned.

So browns want a ADULT at qb hmmmmmm. SO lets assume baker was childish so lets replace him with a sexual perv like watson HORRIBLEEE!!! yes people will say no charges of course not atheletes always get off easy ray lewis big ben ......... BAKER might not be the answer but id still rather have him then watson the predator!
-
If Baker didn't want to be 'done dirty', then he should've played better. It's a business. Teams cut players and players hold out. Only the Brown & Orangiest lens wearing Browns fans thought Baker was safe based off of not only last year, but his entire career.
The Browns owed nothing to Baker, and if he or his wife don't like it, then they can tweet about it on Tic Tock.... or do whatever the hell idiots like that do.
While I agree with your sentiments, I disagree with telling Baker one thing and doing another.
This looks bad on the Browns Front Office, and ownership.

Yea, fair enough. Not the best look.

to me Watson = Cam Newton
except with more sophisticated means of manipulation
not unlike the sideline pouting of a once highly regarded qb
if / when Mayfield leaves i hope he lights up the league-
AND gives us his hue jackson staredown as he goes to a championship game...

First off, welcome to the board?
Second, what does this even mean?

I honestly think the way the browns are handling this is totally fucked. I’m also not implying baker is the answer. However the dude played pretty damn hurt for a long stretch of time. If I were a browns fans I’d be mad at how they are handling it. I’d have at least let the dude get healthy, draft another wr and see what’s what. If they don’t trade for watson what the hell do the browns even do? Trade baker for what? To where? I can’t imagine he’s going to want to run out there and play. He’s too proud. Question the dude all you want but as I said before he’s got moxie in spades. Bringing watson in is a slap in the face.

Too proud or too immature? Too easily aggrieved, too easily slighted. He has the inner discipline of a baby squirrel. If you are like that then i need big time TALENT. Going after ex coaches, talking heads, other players about their contracts....etc. All in 4 years. idgaf about him playing hurt -he chose that. idgaf about his moxie...my old spanish teacher had alot of moxie...he is a quarterback. a mediocre talented one and the AFC is nuts and he needs to go. If youre the GM of the browns u keep this loud mouth and hook your career to this? Against Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, Burrows, Carr , Herbert and now Russell Wilson. NO-he can take all his commercials and get out of towm

I mean, I wasn't surprised he wasn't indicted either. Doesn't make it any less morally wrong, and that has to matter. Bill Cosby got off on a legal technicality that believe it or not I completely can rationalize. Doesn't mean Cosby isn't a total POS who should die a shell of the man everyone loved.
Like I mentioned in my conversation with @jrb12711 - I'm wrestling with it both ways.
And I appreciate the honest and nuanced conversation in my back n' forth with him.
and same, dude.
At this time, a lot of reports I trust seem to feel while the Browns are the best roster, Carolina/Atlanta/Saints would provide more 'shelter' for the predator. At this time I also don't see Baker coming back, that ship feels sailed. I'm all in for getting Matt Ryan at this point. I'd rather kick the tires and see if he can run this offense (which i think he could, easily) and try to ignite the MVP talent dude has with much, much better talent than Atlanta has offered the last 3-4 seasons post Super Bowl. Draft his replacement in 2023.

Cam Newton and maturity shouldn’t be used in the same breath.
or with Baker

According to the talking heads on ESPN, they only give the Browns an outside shot at landing DW.
Which means, we’re going to probably end up going through the recycled QB’s available in FA.
Who’s the best of the worst? Mariota? Jimmy G?

Or with Watson.
True,....now it comes down to actual talent and accomplishments....No one outside of Cleveland thinks Baker is in their Universe. Thats the bottomline...more talent..more a team will put up with

My expectations and approach to watching sports has evolved along with my approach to life the last couple years. I’m more interested in spending my focus on positive things and being less invested in things l have no control over. The results have been good. I’m no longer that guy who gets overly bent outta shape when the Browns lose.
I always figured it wasn’t realistic to expect all football players to be really good guys. A couple traits that make you really good at football, violence and aggression, don’t go over so well in the ho hum outside world.
When you get down to it, Browns games take up maybe 3 days of the year. 17 games at 4 hours each = 68 hours. While l love my Brownies l miss a few games for work or other obligations, so we’ll say l spend 2 days a year watching Browns games.
I probably spend considerably more time than that on football adjacent things throughout the year. Reading articles, talking football with friends or family, tooling around this site, the draft, watching Draft Day, etc.
In some respects those football adjacent things are the more positive aspects in life that l’m more interested in these days. Sports is largely a platform to create great memories with friends and family for me. Come baseball season l’m a Reds fan, and right now they’re slashing payroll and getting rid of good players, and they’re most likely gonna suck this year. I got friends who are losing their shit over this. But me, l just can’t wait to spend another season taking my daughter to the ballpark.
So how does all this relate to a guy like Watson? I don’t spend much time focusing on the lives of individual players outside the game. There are exceptions. The guys who l deem positive forces in the world, l want to support and amplify what they’re doing. I follow a guy like Nick Chubb on social media. I bought a Chubb jersey and a couple boxes of Chubb Crunch for my daughter for Christmas.
A guy like Kareem Hunt? I’m aware of what occurred, l saw the video, it was damn ugly. I like a good redemption story so l hope for that, but l also know it’s important to be prepared if that don’t happen. Like l said, traits that make you good at football don’t necessarily make you good at life. His character is not my focus.
Bottom line is anything you do for enjoyment should be enjoyable, so if you’re not getting that out of it, find something better. If a guy’s character flaws make it hard for you to enjoy his work, then change your focus off of him or off of his work, whatever it takes.

I don't blame this FO for the weakest link on this team...the QB...top 5 rushing attack,oline,defense....we had Landry, OBJ, Hopper...i ain't mad at all with this FO

Right now... I go after Jimmy G... What the Browns did was despicable to Mayfield... Whether or not you like Mayfield... They treated him like shit.. And he didnt deserve that AB and Jimmy are still dumber than a bag of rocks... jimmy needs to sell the team STAT!
