It rains... And water seeps through... Therefore... contaminating the ground.. and whatever water stands or accumulates inside... This is a totally bad idea...

I go to, and deal with numerous landfills. They are some of the most regulated facilities in the world

All of the water and run-off is taken care of

Plus there are designated landfills for hazardous waste

They won’t be getting rid of the batteries in a normal facility

that is heartening, but as I posted, there are closed landfills that are very, very bad. and I can't imagine batteries not being just discarded along some dump roadside in a lot of distant rural/country areas around the country.

  • I’m sure we can find some third world country to send them…maybe send them to the moon ?

  • electric car fans love forced labor making those car's batteries. slavery.

There isn't any legitimate defense of being all in on electric cars. Estimated TWICE AS MUCH "global warming" potential, uses DOUBLE the amount of energy than producing a combustion engine care.

Just another imaginary utopian fiasco libs like woody glue themselves to.

    A great read:

Firstly, producing an electric vehicle contributes, on average, twice as much to global warming potential and uses double the amount of energy than producing a combustion engine car. This is mainly because of its battery. Battery production uses a lot of energy, from the extraction of raw

I would think there has to be a clever way to recycle and use the remaining acid...

There already is. But I’m sure someone here will search the internet and find an article that says it’s bad

    nice, after the fact. lol.

the problem is, not everybody recycles. and the energy to recycle.... is

    mostly FOSSIL FUELS.

Does Recycling Use Fossil Fuels? 7 Facts You Should Know (Explained)

The exact amount of energy that comes from fossil fuels is hovering around 81% in the United States.

  • The size of a EV battery will make it almost impossible to just throw away.

You can’t just throw it away in your garbage can. Plus it most likely would have to be replaced by a mechanic. Making them responsible for it’s disposal

Just wait until you see the cost to replace that battery.  Just throw the car away also.

I know a guy that had a prius. He had to replace the batteries 2 times. He sold the car after that. Went back to a gas only car

No Doubt some of the original model T owners eventually went back to horses. I think the problem with electric vehicles is that somebody in government is getting rich from them and wants to force the issue faster then it should be implemented.

Right.... Because everyone knows there's no lobbying in the oil and gas industries. Everyone knows it's actually the cleanest industry, no pun intended.

  • I say burn more gas. Pay no attention to my being an XOM stock owner. It's in your best interest! ?

Yeah, pay no attention to Texas setting new monthly records for temps in April, May and now June (which has been like mid-August). Been in the worst drought since the worst in 50 plus years in 2011.

But tomorrow we get back into the 90s thank goodness. A real cold front!  But keep on burning that gas & oil. I'm gettin' richer.??

A sad representation of the UM's indoctrination again ?

Woodsucker continues to pull the party line w/o doing his homework.

If you think there was any political indoctrination going on in engineering you're a fool.

I've been to the University of Michigan many many times. It's your typical commie/socialistic indoctrination center.

So, Mr Engineer extraordinaire, I'll ask too. You drive a fossil fuel vehicle or an elec pos?

So you're pivoting now, I'm not shocked. Let's agree you were wrong and don't know what you're talking about first.

And idiot said something about me and I corrected it, nothing more. You're giving yourself way too much credit.
