Browns cuts to 53

In theory, we have 5 QB's.
I'm guessing they have a plan?
Watson suspended
Bissette named starter
Dobbs wants Bissette' starting job
Mond inactive weekly? (cost a 53 spot/but roster protected)
Rosen most likely candidate to not get plucked from PS?
2 horse race to starter.. 2 horse race to inactive list

Schwartz is a back burner project at best, he doesn't contribute anything to this team. He is not a good fit for this team. He is a better fit for someone like KC who has a wealth of talent and a franchise QB like Mahommes that they can bury him on the depth chart and try to develope him. Our QB situation is up in the air right now and we need as much contributors as possible. I seriously don't understand this front office. You keep a guy like Schwartz but cut Rosen who outplayed the designated Starter and then bring in ANOTHER qb. I thought Rosen played well enough to earn a spot and I wanted to see more of him. I just have a really bad feeling about this season.
Rosen played against the 3rd team defenses in his games. And Brissett only played just over one quarter and without Jerome Ford who played so well in the other games. Dobbs played against first and second team guys and easily played the best. Rosen is exactly where he should be (on the practice squad).

I agree. We need to remember, this is already his 5th season so if he doesn't start showing more consistency soon - he may be running out of NFL practice squad opportunities.

...and with the 3rd string offense.
In theory, we have 5 QB's.
That's an important point when someone says he did it against a 3rd string - because he's also throwing to 3rd string guys that probably won't make the team. It nullifies the perceived advantage or at least it should.
Then again we're talking about the Cleveland Browns who are tentatively scheduled to realize they are in a passing era on December 4th of this year. For now, Andrew Berry has a school-girl crush on Schwartz so I didn't see any advantage the current starting QB sentenced to him had over Rosen throwing to guys on the 3rd string.
Along the same line, is Josh Dobbs really this good all of a sudden? Or, is he just a beneficiary of guys that actually know how to run routes, get open, and (above all) catch passes that hit their hands?

Excellent question. But to me the answer is that the ball arrives where it's supposed to arrive on time. I think he's just playing better myself, but we'll know soon enough if Brissett gets lifted for Dobbs to come in if we fail to move the ball due to QB issues.

Dobbs is looking a lot like he looked at UT. Very good at times; but the better opponents exposed his vulnerabilities. When that happened, he stopped looking to throw when he got outside of the pocket. The more he repeated it, the more teams noticed on film there was less risk for DBs to worry about him seeing anyone getting behind them.
Am I wrong to be more worried about the WR Corps and their ability to help whoever is playing QB? In my lifetime following the NFL/Browns, in order for backup QBs to achieve and sustain success - everyone has to step up their game. Does the WR Corps offer this to whoever will be starting at QB until week 12? Do we have 1 WR other than Cooper that could even start for Ohio State right now? I don't really get the feeling they trust DPJ - but he can only be as good as they allow him to be. I think he has some untapped goodies I'd like to see more of. I think Bell can be a very good WR if/when he gets the reps and experience.

Jeremy Fowler@JFowlerESPNThe #Browns have agreed to terms with free agent TE Jesse James to join the 53-man roster on a one-year deal, per sources. Entering his eighth NFL season, James has 157 catches for 1,522 yards and 12 touchdowns. Good TE3 option for Cleveland behind David Njoku and Harrison Bryant -

We've been concerned about his injury all offseason.
Tell Winslow jr., this is what a football warrior should read like..
Can't do or ask for much more .. He took a pay cut to bet on himself to stay
Jack's age 28, and his injury should take up to 10-12 months to recover.. Jack's 2nd knee injury (left/now right) came on Nov.28 2021. /while his surgery date reads somewhere around Dec. 6th 2021.. that's 10 months from tomorrow
Good Luck! #78 ?

thing is (not that i like schwartz) is that we do not give up on are draft picks as past regimes did I mean it can be hard enough to hit on your picks but to just give up on them and not to develop them is it any wonder why we sucked for so long
I actually have to disagree here. Teams give up on draft picks, and they should. Good teams do it all the time. You are thinking about the Browns of 5-15 years ago when the coaches and or front office was always turning over, so maybe then we gave up in some players to early because they were not the new regimes "guys". But with our front office stable we should get rid of people quickly if they are not worthy. We have much better talent and depth now. Does it make sense that Mike Harley is on the practice squad for example and Swartz is on the active roster. One played well during the preseason the other looked terrible. So who else with talent is not even on the team because we kept a guy who can't catch the ball?
Are you old even to remember Braylon Edwards well? Receivers who don't catch the ball need to go! Really catching the ball is most of their job. They can run a good route, use speed etc but if they don't catch the ball than it doesn't matter what else they do. Bill Belicheck wouldn't keep him around with him dropping balls like that.I actually have to disagree here. Teams give up on draft picks, and they should. Good teams do it all the time. Monday practice:
RT Jack Conklin practices, chance to play Week 1 <<link
New #Browns T #59 Joe Haeg, TE #81 Jesse James practicing after officially being signed to 53 this morning.
It's Labor Day. The #Browns gave Drew Forbes the day off by waiving him after signing veteran tackle Joe Haeg. They also signed tight end Jesse James and waived LB Jordan Kunaszyk. (still not claimed/could land on Browns PS)
