Lockout in 2011?
-
I have been reading a little about the possibility of a lockout in 2011. I know that it will be an uncapped year and some people like it and some people don't. What I just want to know how this could possibly lead to a lockout? Where are these rumors coming from and why might this happen?

Did a search for info and here is some of what I found;

This article, written back in 2008, warns of a possible lockout. The current CBA could have ran through the 2012 season but owners unanimously voted to opt out early as stated in this article ----> http://newsburglar.com/2009/06/03/will-the...ockout-in-2011/
I'm not a very smart man, as Forrest Gump, my idol once said, so to keep it simple enough that I can follow along as I type, it basically boils down to....... cha-ching! Money. How could we have ever guessed?
Owners say they are shelling out too much. Players are getting too big a piece o' the pie, yet none of them are willing to open up their books and verify the accusation.
This article ----> http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/07/01/charlie...f-2011-lockout/, mentions how DeMaurice Smith, new executive director of the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) is taking the time to jet around the country and warn players of the impending lockout. Not only that, but he has all ready held an audience on Capital Hill. Seems the NFLPA may feel including the US government as necessary when dealing with the likes of Al Davis. yeeesh.
This is interesting to someone with a small brain also (referring to myself Lummy, easy big guy). -------> http://newsburglar.com/2009/06/03/will-the...ockout-in-2011/ This site says the NFL has a deal with DirecTV worth....... wait for it..... (pinky curled near corner of mouth) ONE BILLION DOLLARS a year starting through 2011 and running til or through 2014, not sure which.
Here's the big kicker.... even if there is a lockout and no games to televise, DirecTV still has to pay the billion buckaroos to the NFL. If the players aren't playing, they're not getting paid, but the owners may still have a large pot to split.
Crazy.
As an insurance policy, I may just have to take up soapbox derby as a hobby. I do live in Akron after all. Plus, I don't think those kids get paid. Could be the safest sport to become a fan of without the risk of strikes or lockouts!!!
This doesn't mean I'm giving up on the Browns, just that I have a contingency plan!

Could be the only magic elixir to prevent your annual 2 losses to the Steelers.
Browns fans = lockout fans!
