Dink and Dunk

Why are we even talking about this? BQ has proven that he can throw long. Its just a matter of being comfortable with it. That's something he needs to work on with his receivers (and more importantly) he needs an offensive coach who will give him the opportunity to do that. Too bad Daboll looks horrid from what I've seen.

Yeah, that's why Jeff Samardzija went from a nobody to a difference-maker at ND, because Quinn never found him downfield. Oh, and what's Samardzija doing now, since he obviously was such a great WR that he obviously made all of Quinn's horrible TD throws look good?
Pitching for the Cubs.
RIIIIIIIGHT. Quinn definitely has never made a WR look good before.
Purely Lumberghian reasoning, yet again.l

Jeff Samardzija spurned the NFL draft. He was supposedly a mid-late first rounder.... might have been picked BEFORE Quinn if he hadn't removed his name from the draft.
Apparently Quinn made the 13 or 14 or so NFL draftees he played with look great and they had nothing to do with it themselves.

HUH? Samardzija was never a mid-late 1st rounder on any draft board I have seen (and w/ the help of google I found he was projected as a 7th rounder or UDFA). You dont' get taken as a WR in round one w/ a 4.55 40 time.

Hands and separation in spades though. Separation even if he had to get it vertically.
I hope Kokinis keeps track of him.

He was picked in June '06 by the Cubs org. and was playing in their minor league org. that summer. I don't believe many experts even bothered to project him for the '07 draft.
I do not know if he even asked the NFL for an official projection. He might have.
It seems someone felt he might have been a first rounder. : http://www.nfl-draft-site.com/2007/01/wr-j...is-back-on.html

Well, since Masters and ndneighbor already handed you your ass on your Lumberghian post, I'll only add this:
Why in good God's name would Samardzija have given up millions as a first-rounder to ride a bus around the midwest?
Do you Manwagoners even think about what you post anymore or has your bitterness destroyed your few remaining brain cells?

Jeff S. would've been a decent red zone guy, a fourth WR... but that's why he played baseball. He had trouble separating against good teams, which is why Brady was always running around like a wild man. None of their skill players is doing anything in the league and their defense blew beyond comprehension. You know, that ain't gonna change just because you want it to. It's kinda common knowledge. Those Weis/Quinn teams were absurdly overrated and looked outmatched against every good team.
I still maintain that tOSU spent the better half of 3 hours mugging the shit out of Samardzija during the 2005 (season) Fiesta bowl.

As usual you don't actually have any reading comprehension or intelligence.Nope never been anywhere near that club.
And there are threads going this morning where I state that.
And places in the past where I have.
I know I know, it's so hard to keep track of everything where you are posting as two people. Trying to keep both of your personalities straight.
And it's even harder when you are reading the screen through your tears for the collapse of DA's career.
Ya gotta admit. He has found a creative way to give himself a reach around. (Doling out thanks to himself.)

Good find. I couldn't find that when I was googling it (maybe I didn't use the right words
). All I found was this ( http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dspro...7&genpos=WR ), where they had his 40 times and draft projections. -

Well D&S I feel it only right to say, IMHO, that your first statement is dead nuts accurate. I also feel there is a chance Jeff S. might have been off the board at the 22 spot if not for the Cubs involvement.
But that's just me. (And most likely you.) Opinions vary. Shep's got his and so does everyone else. Did this receiver make this QB look good or visa versa. A good topic for discussion if it was June or July.
The second statement could probably be argued for weeks though. The Def. players that were Quinn's team mates had little to do w/ the QB's ability to run the O. (Dink & Dunk or otherwise.)
All of that was at least two or three years ago. Most of us are far more interested in what Sunday brings.
As usual, your post is QBcentric and it's not hard too see why.

because baseball contracts are bigger and they are guaranteed. Plus the avg baseball career is longer.
if you can get 15 mil guaranteed right out of school to play hardball, it's a no brainer.
Look at Quinnie for instance, he's got a 5 yr $9 mil deal

Samardzija was widely considered to be one of the 2 best senior WRs available... only reason he wasn't on everyone's top list was because he announced in January that he'd play baseball.
-
I stand corrected. The contract was for $2.5 mil guaranteed, not $1.5 mil.
Also: Found this cool article on Samardzija's thought process before choosing baseball. Good read.
Anyway, there's no way to tell where Samardzija would have ended up in the draft but ultimately it's beside the original point, which was:
Quinn found him a lot when they played together. Who made who look good is kind of a ridiculous argument since it obviously takes both to complete a pass.
All that matters now is that we know Quinn can make the throws and unless BE isn't as good as Samardzija, they will find similar success this year.

Is that all Tom Brady did tonight was Dink and Dunk? Lumnuts?
Dink and Dunk= 1st downs=west coast offense.

From CBS Rapid Reports.
1:46:34Â pm The notion that the Browns must throw deeper downfield to be successful was dismissed by WR Mike Furrey. "This league has changed since they threw the ball deep all the time in the 80s and 90s," Furrey said. "Look at New England. They get first downs, they move the chains and they keep opposing offenses off the field."

Absolutely.................as said often, you take what the defense gives you. If they cheat up Quinn will throw deep and has proven he is capable of doing it. People don't understand that TEs are a big part of Mangini's offensive plan. A lot of teams will lay back in a cover 2 and make you dink and dump the ball all the way into the red zone, hoping you make a mistake on the way to stall the drive. So, the short passing game has become popular with many teams. Guys like Anderson are too easy to defend because it takes longer for the play downfield to develop, requires a 5 step drop and it is easier to defend with over the top coverage. Once teams realized in 2007 that Anderson was a vertical passer he was shut down and hasn't been an effective QB since.
So, the bottom line is you have to be able to spread the ball around and throw short, intermediate routes and air it out. You also have to let them know you can run the ball. It's about balance, keeping the defense guessing and the QB able to recognize what the defense is giving them.

The only other time he was effective, is when the Giants deviated from the standard game plan and played DA weird... I have a feeling that would have been a VERY bad game if the Giants were blitzing like they normally did that season.
