Browns trade QB Dobbs and a 7th round pick to Arizona for a 5th round pick.

DTR is now the backup.

You beat me to it

and we brought back mond . which makes me wonder why was he released at all ?

[Bob806]

Well that's a surprise. Watson needs to stay healthy!

I liked Dobbs but he's not great. DTR has a lot of upside, but needs to learn. Mond, I just don't see it.

gotta love A.B moved up to rounds in the draft

Browns have a 2024 Panthers 5th round pick after trading 1st round pick Baker Mayfield

Browns trade a two time FA QB Josh Dobbs to the Cardinals for another 2024 5th round pick while only losing a 7th round pick

I'll check back, to see if any of this is still real after my 3rd beer ! ? Cheers !

It's 715pm, you should have 5 beers downed by now?

Here's a bet Cards hadn't called yet to ask about Dobbs.

Getting a free 5th and saving $2M against the cap is good business..

They could use that cash for a kicker

sounds possible.. https://www.cleveland.com/guardians/2023/08/what-im-hearing-about-the-browns-trading-joshua-dobbs-to-arizona-terry-pluto.html

but don't believe Dobbs felt safe as Browns #QB2 vs going game day inactive

Cards current starter? Your first guess was right - Colt McCoy.

So they traded Dobbs to move up from the 7th round to the 5th next year.  That's good if we were planning to cut him anyway.

I wouldn't be so quick to install DTR as #2 over Mond though.  I'm not sure that's a given.  (he is a rookie after all)

Turns out he never was released.  Obviously the Dodds deal started to develop and the team held back the paperwork.

There will be 3 active QB every game. The 3rd can’t play unless the first 2 are hurt though.
There won’t be an inactive QB unless a team carries 4 QB

4. Former Browns QB coach Drew Petzing is now Arizona’s offensive coordinator. He liked Dobbs last year. For a fifth-round pick, why not bring in Dobbs and let him battle McCoy and Tune?

[Unsympathetic]

Dobbs is apparently their week1 starter now.  Good luck, Arizona
