Kareem Hunt / He will play Sunday !

  • After the shock of losing Chubb, psychologically this has to be a nice addition to the locker room.

But if the Browns were wrong about Chubb, apparently the rest of the NFL was too then.

When he was brought in we were psyched about having two Pro-Bowl caliber RBs on the same roster. Last season, the difference between Chubb and Hunt was startling, and it might have been Chubb's weakest season (but still very good, mind you).

We'll see. As a fan, I'm glad to see Hunt back for sure. Everyone raves about what a good teammate he is.

  • I thought Hunts usage last year was awful.  It seemed to me that he was a grinder at the end of the game when most teams had 9 in the box looking for a run.   I thought he played well early last year with higher volume of carries

I think he has a little burst still and he’s gonna run through some second level tacklers. he’s pretty good at ball security too and his hands are tried and true.

  • I don’t know who posted it, but I agree that Hunt was better than Chubb inside the 10 yard line.

Excellent! If he fills in as #1 RB he may actually work better than when he was #2 to Nick. More carries with more opportunities like he had in KC. But we know he works well inside the opponents 10, so even as #2 that works. He sniffs out goal lines if we just play him that way and not get too f'n cute.

I think the team is going to ride Ford as the #1 unless he shows he isn't.  Either way, I could see a fairly even split in carries.

I think Hunt's presence inside the 10 yard line made him a threat as a runner or a receiver.

  • If I was Berry I wouldn’t be done yet. I would call Atlanta and get Cordelle Patterson.  He can get wide and use him as a returner.

  • not that it matter's but i will put it here, cam akers went to the vikings for a 6th round pick

  • This is awesome news. I expect him to make an immediate impact.

...at least initially.  There's a game in just a few days.  I don't expect to see much of Hunt on the field this weekend.

That's my thinking too. Yes, he knows a ton of the players obviously and the offense, but still don't see him getting a lot of carries this Sunday; Ford and Strong will get the bulk.

  • I'm assuming that he'll wear #27 since it's available.  (but I could be making an ass uv me)

No doubt, he is a bruiser at running back and that is something we will need at points this season to wear teams down.

Which is why myself and everyone  here were depressed about Nick. D.W will get it together (book it)

  • The most no brainer move of all time. He had a down year but I don’t think he’s as “washed” as some people think.

The chubb injury will never stop hurting though, easily tied for my favorite browns player since 99’. Hope the dude has successful surgery and rehab and can continue his career.

Don't know how you just lose a step. It's not like Kareem Hunt has a ton of milage on that body of his. Maybe he's just not keeping himself in shape. Maybe the reason he remained unsigned for so long. I wish him the best! Welcome back.

Hunt is only 27, and still has a lot of tread on the tires. Guys usually don't start "losing a step" until they're well into their 30s.  He primarily was unsigned because the RB market tanked, and had (justifiably) a high asking price.

Let me do a nickers for you 'peen. Ford is mediocre. Sucks. Cheap backup to Chubb that was only going to see limited time. Has all the power of an e-bike. Take away his big run, he averaged 2.5 yards a carry against the Steelers.

  • Good on team Hunt & Kareem to get this deal done. Welcome back angry run 27 !  ?

sure, Hunt may have been slowed with a thigh, than ankle injury late in his contract year w/Browns.. but this looks like a fair deal to return home as a Brown healthy again. MKC reports he looked 10 lbs lighter staying in shape.

Good Luck Kareem Hunt & welcome back !

I am not comparing the two, rather simply to point out you can't take away runs.  If you took away long runs from Barry Sanders, he would be a pretty average back.

It can't hurt to try that idea.  Even though there's 2 pretty good reasons named Robinson & Allgeier that he's now 3rd on Atlanta's depth chart - he's proven he can score from anywhere on the field as a Return Specialist, RB or WR.

If not, Jerome Ford rushed for 106 yards in his first opportunity with significant action.  Even so, that was only in about 2.5 quarters of action.  On that long run, he outran a lot of guys with good pursuit angles on him and the only way he was going to get caught - was a Safety that was already back deep diving/hoping that was a better option than what all others failed to do.

I can see Hunt and Ford giving us a Thunder and Lightning type of 1-2 punch.  Ford is still playing on a rookie salary cap restricted contract as a 2nd year player on a team with a salary cap that has to be about ready to suffocate in the very near future.
