McDonald to possibly be benched in favor of Daniels

  • Wow, you guys are rough on the coaching staff. McDonald has clearly been burnt on numerous occassions through out the season, and quite simply, has had problems executing his responsibilities. I'm sure he'll learn with time, but there is no way to coach execution. The opposing team has seen it on films and that's why they throw his way. And until he can prove otherwise, he will continue to get picked on by oppsoing QB's.

If it was the defensive scheme, how could Wright be successful? RAC has alot of issues with poor judgement calls, but this isn't one of them. Or at least he's trying to do something about it.

  • Cousins sucks too, but it hasn't been as blatent.

  • I noticed during the Balt game he was being picked on a little and I thought they must see something about him.

I think he jumps routes, which means he's gambling for the big play or he's inexperienced or a little of both. The big Den. pass was a stop and go, or out and up (or some version of that). He obviously bit on the first move, recovered nicely then the brutal air-tackle. You can't deny his wheels though. I say leave him in....but COACH HIM....PLEASE!!!! COACH HIM!!!!

he was. after that first near-pick B-mac decided to yuk it up with Cutler on his way past--Cutler was unimpressed to say the least. after defaming his mother's character or something similarly unaffectionate Cutler made a conscious effort to bury the kid from that moment on.

kinda like when Shaun Smith decided to run his cock-sucker to the Cowboys offense on the first play this year.....and then they fed it to him.

opponents don't like that shit. at all. these kids would do much better to simply keep their heads down and play.

regarding a switch i'm in total agreement about Cousins--he's been a problem all year. i wouldn't mind seeing B-mac there if Daniels gets a nod at CB. also, Jones is still banged up and Mike Adams has hammy issues....of all things.

Since T. Daniels also has experience at safety maybe his help could be put to better use there, allowing McDonald to continue to grow at corner.

p.s. that Marshall td against B-mac wasn't anything that doesn't happen to at least one corner in every game in the NFL. it happens. my beef is with his decision to swat at a ball he can't see coming rather than making that tackle at the 45. sometimes you have to cut your losses and just stop the play there, before it gets worse. the message is probably clear to him now and i doubt he does it again.so it's in the rear view now. unless he does it again.........GONE! 😆

Oh I have the same problem with BMac...you either make sure you make that tackle, or heck, grab the guy, take the PI and don't give up the big play. To me that's a coaching issue though.

I can't pin that one on the coaches, unless BMac's coaches have been idiots since pee-wee football. That was a brain fart going for the ball and not the player. As someone just said, tackle him at the 45 or get the interference call.

Now no one else recognizing the play but Bmac, that is on the coaches.

DB's "get burned" every time a passing TD is scored. life goes on.

you're speculating regarding what opposing coaches have seen on film and i'm not buying. the reason Cutler threw his way on the 93 yarder is because Jones and 2 other guys all decided to cover the TE together at the line and B-mac was singled out by himself. seriously, 3 guys sharing the same responsibility of covering one guy left Royal open. the reason why Cutler went to Marshall on the other TD was because B-mac is 5'10" and Marshall is a big strong target--he threw it his way because it was single coverage and he gave Marshall a chance to make a play.

EW got scored on waaaaaaaaay more in the first half of the season, just not for 93 yards. they're exploiting mismatches bro, same as Chud likes to do. if B-Mac had help either time Cutler might not have thrown either pass.
  • It was a terrible attempt at defense by Mac. He looked like Ronald McDonald out there. He should have taken the PI at the least.

After that crappy performance by McDonald last week, I am all for seeing what Daniels can do. Can you really do much worse than give up 3 TD's and drop two easy INTs?

he gave up one TD--oh, you mean over 2 weeks huh? well, at least that first pick ricocheted off the receiver--that's a pretty tough catch at full sprint, especially since he had to react last minute..

if B-mac looked bad what about his help--they didn't even make it onto my tv screen they got beat so bad. looking back the d seemed to play pretty well when mike adams was in there. i like sean but i'm just saying. maybe he's still hurt?

i think they should leave the kid alone--it's not like hanford was all-pro in year 2. he's broken up more passes than any 2nd year db in cleveland in a very very long time (especially in relation to games played--it's crazy). his ability to close has saved his butt more than once and he guesses wrong less than EW does. and he's better man to man than E wright. if he had tackled denver's wr last week instead of attempting to swat the ball away no one would even be talking about this.

what have we got to lose? it's not like the season is on the line or anything. 😠

even if we had a serious chance of sweeping the last 7 i'd still like to leave him in. ef it.

p.s. get the entire team some jump ropes. buncha pussies.

I did mean over the past two weeks - I should have elaborated more.

My point was this - if you have a player that's not playing well, what does it hurt to see what you have sitting on the bench - especially against a team that your benched player has some experience against.

The touchdown he gave up was the product of a terrible play call. Didn't you see him at the last second pointing at Sean Jones/Pool to give him some backside help. He was isolated with 90 yards behind him.

The TD he gave up was not just because he didn't have help, it was also because he tried to knock the ball down instead of trying to make the tackle. That's what I have an issue with.

Watch it again. He's signaling for Jones to come over, and while he's looking at him the Broncos snap the ball and Royal makes his jump, forcing McDonald to try to play catchup to a guy already past him.

I think his point was that it doesn't excuse BMac for going for the ball when he had not chance for it instead of just tackling Royal at the 40 or 45. Let alone just getting a pass interference to save the big play. That was a brain fart by BMac. I certainly don't think that play warrents him to the bench.

Everyone needs to keep in mind this kid was a 5th round pick. They have been asking a lot of him pretty early on in his pro career.

  • dude, you're an idiot.

  • Interesting that he benches McDonald, but DAs suckitude seemed to have almost no limit.

RAC is trying to save his ass - fire him now so he doesn't have a chance to damage the players.

Someone on another board put up a list of his gaffe's; it's ridiculous and pisses me off. I wanted his ass gone after his second season where the team was still making the same mistakes and he was saying shit like 'We don't know what's wrong'.

It was obvious what was wrong then and now: RAC, you suck as coach.

  • He's young and needs coaching, so of course RAC will bench him. He is incapable of coaching up any of the young players on this team.

I agree but i am for benching a guy for a bit to let him think about the fact someone else desprately wants his job and if he cant do it someone else will step up and take it...

With that said i like bmac i think he has real potential if he is coached right but he and any other rookie/2nd year guy on this team is not part of the browns problem is fats wont bench anyone to even make a point they all think the job is comfortably theirs..look at what singletary did i can tell you that changed that teams whole prospective on job security!

  • It is poor coaching...Cousins has been beat like a rented mule all season long.

If it was deemed that Daniels couldn't be a nickel cover....I don't know why not...if you are good enough to be out on the island, why not the 3rd guy, but that's another story...then why not bring Daniels in when the rented mule was brought in and slide BMac to the nickel??

Romeo is a goof...as long as we have that guy, there is always going to be something screwed up with this team.
