  • With Stefanski as head coach, I want a guy who can play under center, sit in the pocket and makes progressions. I want a sturdy, bigger AFC North-style QB who might not be an amazing athlete, but can move around the pocket and roll out on play action passes. A guy with an arm strong enough to cut through the November wind on the lakefront.

Basically, I want Joe Flacco but without the head-scratching Joe Flacco interceptions. As of today, I'm intrigued by Beck and Allar. Allar needs a lot of work, though. Quinn Ewers, of course, is on the radar.

Having watches 2 seasons worth of Matt Corral's snaps at Ole Miss, I can tell you I would be extremely hesitant taking any QB coming from that Kiffin offense in the first 3 rounds.

Before Kiffin, me and Tour shared the opinion that Jim Kelly's nephew showed some promise if he could keep his head on straight. They used to say the same things about the Jeff Tedford Offense after guys like Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, Kyle Boller and Trent Dilfer (who kept TB fans impatient) until Aaron Rodgers bucked trend.  Then Derek Carr came along and has been decent.  After putting Tampa fans on prozac, Dilfer eventually improved to playing well in Seattle; and being a passenger seat QB as a Super Bowl Champion in Baltimore.

This might be before your time; but BYU used to be another program known for great college QBs that failed in the pros. For example, Marc Wilson, Gifford Nielsen, Virgil Carter, and Robbie Bosco before Jim McMahon and Steve Young broke that trend.  Ty Detmer wasn't expected to be anything special in the NFL; but 14 seasons mostly as a backup and occasional fill isn't bad...

All that to say, NFL teams should be very careful about stereotyping 1 individual to all sins before him under 1 coach's/school's offensive program.  Unfortunately, this advice comes from someone that is terrible at predicting what QB prospects are going to be great in the NFL...

  • The fact that Jim McMahon went to BYU never fails to amuse me.

Yep, I’ve had high hopes on Dawand the dude is a monster sized man.

It would be great if he could master the LT position.

CD, If not - how much fire do you have left in your belly after playing at Mount Union?  Baltimore has tree bark that healed a torn achilles tendon (T. Suggs) and a triceps tear (Ray Lewis) in 2012. Lewis was magically back for the playoffs.

The health of our OTs is just as big of a monkey wrench to our offense as Watson is.  The sad thing is they're gonna dot all the i's and cross all the t's making sure Watson really is this bad.  This is to the extent his throwing mechanics look like he's trying to throw a shot put.  No, he's not hurt because he can't be right?  Jimmy will probably handcuff the organization, players, fans and coaches (that will get fired over this) - throwing away the entire season over 1 player.

IMO, the Browns can win games now, just like we did last year, in the absence of Watson but not with Crablegs.  DTR brought us back vrs the Steelers last year.  His deep ball in the pre-season looked far more polished and accurate than last year.  He escapes pressure better than Watson.  If he ever had the chance to be divine intervention like a former 13th round pick that also wore #17 was - Jimmy's gonna give us all we can eat Crablegs (Winston) instead. Only in Cleveland can you hear/see something like the owner gave the offense crabs...

I've not included him because I didn't want to be biased, plus as of today he's probably (?) a mid-round pick. We'll see.

Kind of curious how interested Ohio State was in him?

being we are years away from winning, I would use 1st round pick on a LT DE or WR and all other picks (well not all our picks) for some fat ass's in the trench's and if we can get A Howard in the mid rounds then that's fine. And then look for our future franchise QB in the following years draft.

Me too about the reservations about his health from the Browns under Jimmy's rule...

  • I'm putting this out into the universe. With another possible sexual assault case against Watson, there's a chance he could get suspended. If he does, there's a chance the Browns could void the rest of his contract, thus removing us from this albatross. I have zero idea how much of a chance any of this happens, but goddamit, I'm going to dream that the Browns will be able to move on and draft their franchise QB this coming April. I'm going to start by throwing up five quarterbacks that could/should be first rounders, with short scouting reports pulled from various sites and an accompanying highlight video to watch if you are interested. If there's someone you think I missed, tell me who and I'll do one for them.

If it comes to this....I'll say what I always say...I want the tallest drink of water with a strong arm available.

  • I'm watching Sanders from Colorado against Colo. St. now. Very strong arm and throws darts sideline to sideline. Seems to know where his receivers are supposed to be, though they sometimes screw up the route. He immediately speaks to them to tell them what they need to be doing when that happens. His OL keeps holding a lot though. Two new OTs are challenged.

I want a guy who can go through progressions and make the proper throws, preferably at 6'4" and 230lbs with a strong arm. ?

    He looks good tonight.

And I still want nothing to do with him. ? Let someone else deal with that massive headache.

The most impressive person in that game is two way player (WR/DB) Travis Hunter who has athletic ability, speed, hands, etc. Some day he goes very high in the draft.

And as I read your comment he scored another touchdown.

He's eligible for the draft after this season. He'll be going very high in the 2025 Draft.

  • Georgia QB Beck has been making some great throws under pressure. He's listed as 6' 4" 220lbs.  Looks like he needs to add some lbs but man he looks legit

I can see why he wanted to play for Neon Dion. Similar skills. His returned INT for 38 yards. Just flew in front of the receiver and snatched it in stride.

Edit: Just looked it up out of curiosity. Both Walter and draftek rate him the #2 CB in the upcoming draft. I knew I was seeing greatness.
