I hung with about half of the video. Here’s an article from their local paper on the situation.
The most heartbreaking thing to me in the article is that their Pyrex plant is closing. Definitely a shame. However, per this article they are moving the jobs to Lancaster, OH, so their loss is our gain.
Obviously the stuff they’re cranking out these days isn’t vintage Pyrex, but for those of you that have some vintage Pyrex, the prices are as high as l’ve ever seen for it and if you got some to sell, let’s talk. I use it for everyday cooking. That shit was made right. Below is an Early American pattern small mixing bowl l have.
Anyway, back to Haitians in PA. Welcome to the new American dynamic. It’s not really that new, but now there’s a big spotlight on it. It may not be the way you want to revive dying towns in America, but it is a way when no other options are available.
These cats are working at a local food processing plant in Charleroi, PA. By all accounts they keep to themselves, they suck at driving, and they participate in the community when asked.
The article points out Haitians were the only ones to show up during a planned town clean up during Memorial Day weekend. That’s pretty big guys. I’m a member of a civic group in my little town, and this is shit we do annually and it’s like pulling teeth to get the community involved. We want active participants.
