Cooper to Chiefs Rumors...

Mary Kay Cabot is conjecturing that the Browns could be interested in trading for veteran WRs Davante Adams or DeAndre Hopkins.

The sad thing is I think a lot of bad ideas begin with Jimmy; and scapegoats get fired. He's too impatient to consider drafting a QB he'd want to release if growing pains persist into a 2nd year. Seeing how unready him and his organization was for Watson - this isn't an owner that is a good consumer for QBs. Then he has a guy like Jed Wills protecting the blind side of his investment at QB. It's a mess.
Are you sure Haslam was at the forefront of this move.? I don't think he was. I think back to a PC where the team addresses the whole Watson troubles. Jimmy didn't look very happy.
Just a general question on Haslam. In your life, who was a better owner of the Browns? Model? Lerner...who helped Model finance the move to Balt, Jr. Lerner, the soccer mom?

Lerner Jr. He hired people, tried to stay out of the way, but kept his checkbook open for whatever the team needed. For some reason, people blamed the losing on him and wanted him to sell. I kept stating, The Devil That You Know. Well, people got their wish. Haslem bought the team and commenced to making bad hires and trigger-finger-firing those hires like a revolving door...which kept the good coaches & players scratching Cleveland from their Teams To Work For list. Finally he stumbled across a couple of guys that work together well...but of course, want them fired...because....fans are knee-jerk...like jimmuh.

I appreciate your points. To answer your first question, I have a strong feeling he was. It's year #3 and they're still in trial and error mode with the offensive design that's supposed to emphasize Watson's strengths. It's Jimmy's business and there's never been a contract commitment of this magnitude. However, that commitment prevented this team from drafting 1st round picks in each of the last 3 years and others picks. That's fine if you don't also lose guys like Nick Chubb, Jack Conklin, Wyatt Teller, David Njoku, Za'Darius Smith, and others to injury.
Going all the way back to when Jimmy was the most influential alumni booster at the University of Tennessee - it was Jimmy's airplane that intercepted the Manning family tradition of playing college football at Ole Miss. That's my first impression of when Jimmy sees a QB he wants - he'll do whatever is necessary to land him.
The second question in bold has to be the owner (Art Modell) that was here during my glory years as a fan which was the 80s where I saw QBs like Brian Sipe and Bernie Kosar; RBs like Greg Pruitt, Mike Pruitt, Earnest Byner, Kevin Mack; our 2 first round picks from 1978 Ozzie Newsome & Clay Matthews; Corners like Hanford Dixon and Frank Minnifield; OL like Doug Dieken, Cody Risien, Mike Baab, etc. I think the Browns frequented the playoffs in the 80s more than any other decade. Unfortunately, that same owner caused a lot of heartbreak to a very loyal fanbase.

Adams has made it clear to LV that he prefers to be traded before the Nov 4 deadline. I'd prefer him over Hopkins.

Fuck, that's some hard-hitting, in depth, super sourced journalism there from MKC.

Me too! Once upon a time, there was great chemistry between the 2 former Clemson players that were re-united in Houston. Since then, there's been a lot of wear and tear on both Hopkins and Watson. IMO, Adams would bring ambitious energy knowing there's good football in him to be tapped.

I'm not a fan of Watson with his helmet off. But with his helmet on this year he has played a bit better in each game. And considering the OL injuries and poor quality of play...and having more receiver drops than anyone in the league, that last game was pretty good. Why, he even slid once.
There's a lot of season left for him to prove himself...unless he gets himself hurt...which is something I predict.
He played well Sunday, and was a questionable holding call and a dropped pass from playing very well. I’m skeptical, though, long term. We’ll see.

A well thrown pass that bounced off Cooper's chest became an interception. I'd like to see us get a few guys back heathy.
I know we keep hearing how great Baker Mayfield is doing this year; but has anyone seen how well Sam Darnold is doing out of the same draft class? They both blended in with stench in Carolina fwiw. Both got benched...
This is Darnold's numbers this year in just 4 weeks:
68.9cmp% 932 yards11TD 3 INT118.9rating -
Rumor out there that Browns are considering trading Crab Legs too.

Can they line up at tackle?

LOL! Unfortunately, the design of the current offense likes big, lazy tackles that can't move.

Knowing Jedrick Wills wants no part of War in the trenches - he was thrilled to learn 1 way to get out of any war is to pretend he has bone spurs (if the trainers tell him to stop milking the ankle injury he's been re-aggravating since his 2nd year). Jed what's your level of foot pain on a scale of 1-10? "Um 15" And he's smart too folks!

It's crazy what happens when you take an average QB and put him behind one of the very best pass blocking Olines in the NFL while tossing in Jefferson, Nailor and Addison.
But if he sustains this for a few years, we'll no he wasn't just average. I still think we made a mistake by taking the pygmy of the litter.

Assuming the Vikings will completely walk away from their first round investment in McCarthy? Sure.

Let's see. 4-0 vs start McCarthy. Darnold keeps winning then there is no reason to change horses. If it plays out he takes them to the SB, all bets are off on that "investment" who has been on IR for two months now and out for the season.

Little early to start talking about a Vikings Super Bowl. They lose to the Pack if our rookie kicker doesn't miss 2 FGs. They are not some juggernaut. And acting like Sam Darnold is now a great QB after some early season wins is ridiculous. The NFC North will still come down to Green Bay and Detroit. Watch.
Sam Darnold is the 4th best QB in the NFC North. Please get back to me in December.
