Our Friend MJP has passed away

He always tried to be positive. Even when he was positive that something about the team needed fixing.
And he was a muscle car guy!

Was he? What kinda cars?
I know there's a photo floating around here when he was younger with his late 60s Mustang.

and a motor bike also, I want to think a Yamaha ? which were great bikes in the day

Since you got the flowers l tried for the “plant a tree” option and all l see are flowers. He was steady, stout and consistent. Sounds like an Oak to me. I don’t understand their website. I literally cannot find trees.

Later I saw that there was a charity you could donate to that the family picked out, but kind of like the tree I didn't see it when I originally went on there.

Is it possible to have a wall, thread, something somewhere where the name and avatar of our departed family be posted such that we can go and view/visit it from time to time?

That would be up to Steve I guess and I'm not sure (don't take this wrong) he's technically adept (Web Mastering) to make it happen . but I wouldn't doubt him if he can pull it off...

Thanks for posting this, as I came on to do the same.
Also appreciate you being the man and sending the floral arrangement.
I know mjp mentioned this board/us often to his wife Nancy, so I thought she would appreciate us acknowledging Mike’s presence in our lives. He deserved a nice send off by us.

Dutch, that was huge for us, him and Nancy!
I'll share a little something here. MJP wanted to honor as many guys as he could by pinning threads; that's just the kind of guy he is. At 1 point, I PM'd him and as I was doing it I was like how the Flock of Seagulls am I going to tell him we have way too many pinned threads going without hurting his feelings OR making him feel like I don't appreciate what he was doing for us on volunteer pay. So, I started it off with this place would be a hot mess without all that you do. And then I reminded him how he helped our buddy Syd with the countdown this year and you last year. Then I said, don't take this personal and I might even be wrong but we're up to about 8 locked threads to the extent we're running out of room to see some new ones. I added sometimes it just takes another set of eyes.
Without any hesitation, he said "Thank you Flugel! appreciate that kind of feed back!" The next day he decreased it down to just 2 or 3 pinned threads.
I remember on the days counting down to opening day threads both this year with Syd (who KICKED ASS!) and you (who made it worth a new tradition 1 year ago) - MJP would reply to some of my posts/responses and upgrade them. He also piggybacked onto Paul Brown stuff I posted and took that to another level. He sent me this old picture one time of of him leaning up next to his sports car. He played DE back in the day and he looked like a curly blonde haired Ted Hendricks. More specifically, a bad ass whenever necessary.
I never knew he was that sick. How stupid was I? Not that this is the 1st time; but I must have sounded like a real idiot telling him you got this - just kick its ass again MJP!

Believe me when I tell you he appreciated all words of encouragement in fighting this thing through so many hospitalizations. He always thanked me for any positive thing I ever said to just keep after it. And no, I never knew it had gotten to the life threatening stage either.

This is Michael's brother. He talked about the Browns Board all of the time.
His widow Nancy is doing ok. The banker and the clerk at the social security office helped her with the estate business, which was a relief. She only had to do the running around and that kept her busy.
He had a difficult several months with several hospitalizations. He waved off the last treatment and went home where he wanted to be. We get some solace that that was how it "should be".

Tom, we're so sorry for your loss. We're happy to hear that Nancy is doing ok...and we hope that you are ok.
We miss him...as I'm sure you'd have guessed. He did not let on that he was ill though we knew that he had challenges regarding health.
Thank you so much for posting. The avatar choice is spot on. Don't know if you're a football / Browns fan...but it doesn't matter...you are most welcome here.
All the best!! Again, we miss him!

Thanks for the welcome, Orion. I am doing good on this account but I sure do miss our long talks. I have been a Browns fan for a long while.

Well come here and talk all you want. Your brother added immensely to this board, so I'm sure we'll get to know you here as well. He was special, but I'm sure you know that. I'm in Denver for the game and returning to Texas today. It was a thrilling game to experience despite the loss. Bill from Texas
