I think you underestimate where we fall in the draft. We're headed for # 1 on a clear bottom trajectory. I like the Big Ben size of Allar, but I like the arm and TD production of Sanders better. Toss up there.

Do you think Deion is going to let his kid play for the Browns? I don’t

Cal had the Browns taking Drew Allen, not Allar. ?

Now I see why he does auto draft in his fantasy football leagues.

    Not in a million years.

To be fair, I have zero interest in having his kid play here too.

Hard to believe ANY father of a top QB prospect would want their son to be drafted by the Browns.

  • So, after sitting around my campfire for a while tonight, I finally decided that the Browns are headed to a top five? pick in the draft.

Please note - it's so early, the picks are superficially appraised, and huge projections have been made. Why a campfire? Because I had to trim the trees and didn't want to get all the branches and take them out back. And, I love a nice campfire.

Obviously, I don't go by what the "expert" mock drafts say. They are usually pretty wrong, too.

    ROUND ONE

So, the Browns trade down a bit, and pick up a few picks. They have their eyes on a qb. No, it isn't Shaddeur sp? he is already gone by their pick.

They trade down to about ten. And because you know who has blown everything, etc, and stefanski stupidly starts him  next year too, they need a qb to sit and learn, and be ready to take over. I know - my pick is supposed to go mid to late second round. BUT - after the combine, he will not. The Browns pick a very, very smart, instinctive, very mobile, qb who reminds me of Bernie Kosar, except he can really move around the pocket. He has "IT" is all aspects of pro quarterbacking.

DREW ALLAR, QB, PENN STATE, 6'4", 238 lbs.

He will be a first rounder after the combine. You watch. Maybe they should take him at four and not trade down. lol

Well, you heard it here first. We'll see.

    ********************************************************

Second Round - the Browns need a LT. Wills seems to not have much fire to play the game...or something. He can backup my pick.

    ROUND TWO

Josh Simmons, LT  Ohio State, 6'5", 310 lbs, LT.

whoever is behind center, they need a terrific LT.

The next pick is tough. Do I go defense now? I love the defense. I can get defense later. But I have my

heart set on a TE. I would happily trade Njoku, despite the fact that he catches the ball much better now.

    ROUND THREE

Why trade NJOKU? Because this TE is more mature, catches the ball much better, much better power blocker...and I like his play.

Tyler Warren TE 6'6", 257 lbs, Penn State, "4.68" forty. (Travis Kelce ran a 4.61 in the forty back in the day)

Yep, the QB and his TE from Penn State? Is he so good, he goes in the second round? Do the Browns have to use both of their

third round picks to get him in the second round?

    Very possible.

Priceless. With two picks in the third round, I can go defense with the next few picks.

PS I read my post again, and saw where my typing was too fast and I said "Allen" for some stupid reason.

I fixed it before going any farther.

    Further.

    whatever.

I know.  And Drew Allar - I love his play - I don't listen to the rankings of Walter, etc etc. - just my own

goofy opinions. I have fun with it. I do think Warren is the real deal - with the demand for effective OTs, Warren could

go higher than I think because Warren could be a great TE and those don't happen all that often. - he blocks powerfully and would be a great addition. As a freshman, Joe Thomas was actually a blocking TE, ....Thomas is who I thought of when I studied Warren. Joe Thomas played at 325 lbs, almost the same height.. He ran the combine forty at 5.0 seconds.

I can’t shake the 2023 OSU/PSU game where Drew Allar struggled to complete forward passes. I saw three PSU games last year I think he was under 50% completion percentage in each of the three.  So maybe I need to watch a little more.

That is a legit concern - Allar admits last year, his FIRST year of starting, there are plays he's made this year, that he doesn't know he could have made last year.

This year's highlights convinced me he can be a very good one. Make all the throws, he can run, he has serious skills. He adapted to the offense this year, with one year of experience under his belt. The current OC only came on board about the end of Nov last year, and he installed a dynamic, movie parts offense.

    https://www.si.com/college/pennstate/football/how-penn-state-s-drew-allar-transformed-himself-in-andy-kotelnicki-s-offense-01jagehjgj7w

How Penn State's Drew Allar Transformed Himself in Andy Kotelnicki's Offense

    "

During its 6-0 start, Penn State has produced some whiz-bang offensive fun, explosive plays, a physical run game and a tight end playing five different positions. At its offensive core, however, is Allar, the second-year starting quarterback who less-than-quietly has become its engine. Under coordinator Andy Kotelnicki, Penn State has installed an offense with more moving parts than in any of James Franklin's season. Tight end Tyler Warren's snap-to-catch touchdown that kickstarted the Nittany Lions' 33-30 overtime win at USC merely was the latest page from Kotelnicki's mad-scientist playbook. Allar loves all of it and is producing in it as well.

Through six games, Allar ranks seventh nationally in passer rating (175.77), 10th in completion rate (70.5 percent) and 22nd in touchdown percentage (7.5 percent). His numbers across the board are higher, including, of course, interceptions. Allar has thrown five this season, three at USC. But each has calloused him well, building Allar's confidence as the risk-reward quarterback he wasn't allowed to be in 2023.

For instance, Allar capped that fourth-quarter series (probably his best at Penn State) with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Nicholas Singleton with 2:53 remaining. Kotelnicki said that Allar threw an interception on the same play earlier in the game.

"He wasn't sitting in sulking when we did throw an interception," Kotelnicki said. "He was evaluating what he's going to do next time that situation comes up.""

Well thought out. I'm not sure Warren makes it to the second round.

Iowa is always a good place to look for a tight end

BUT.....if a KS-style offense is going to be run, then a TE or two or three of them are valuable. If that's the intended route, they should part ways with quality veteran players and build draft capital to draft a guy like Warren.

I think Warren can be very versatile lining up outside, on the LOS or as an H Back.

Drafting from fundamentally sound, stable NCAA programs is always a good idea.

And lo and behold there's Luke Lachey, son of Jim Lachey (Ohio State radio) available in the 2025 Draft who just happens to play tight end!

Seems like a good year to get a tight end. (That's what she said)
