Matt Gaetz as Attorney General? (Don't like this choice at all)
-
I have zero faith in Matt Gaetz to not do anything insane. Sorry, no, I don't have specifics. I'm sure he'll do whatever Trump asks and whatever he can to protect / empower him.
The reaction across both sides of the aisle to this nomination speaks volumes
You're calling him insane, but you can't come up with a single example of an insane thing he's done?

Well he's unqualified for the position, he would be a complete Trump lackey with controllable baggage, and he's at best way too close to a sex with minors / trafficking case and at worst quality if multiple crimes. Oh, and there are plenty of reports of him on the house floor being an absolute sleazeball. He probably shouldn't go from being under investigation to being in charge. The right likes throwing around "lawfare" because their guy actually broke the rules. Gaetz being AG for Trump sounds like a setup for actual lawfare.
What exactly do you like about him being nominated? Just like RFK Jr, he's said one or two things in the past that are positive (e.g., stopping Congressmen and women from owning stocks) but I 1) don't think he'd actually make any difference here and 2) this doesn't outweigh everything else.
If this was just maneuvering by him to get out of his own ethics report on his sleazeball behavior, well, it looks like it worked.

C’mon Woody, many on left will not deny lawfare was real. Try and shed your denial.
New York AG Letitia James campaigned on the promise to get Trump.
Too bad for you, weaponizing the justice system for the purpose of taking down a political opponent didn’t go your way.

He earned a degree from William & Mary Law School in 2007 btw. Apparently the worse about him is he doesn't have a squeeky clean history, that's what the hearing is set to determine.

Garbage
he's at best way too close to a sex with minors / trafficking case and at worst quality if multiple crimes
That's a pretty old case isn't it? If true, he should have been prosecuted already.

Because of a #MeToo accusation? If he's guilty of what's being alleged, then sure, he shouldn't be confirmed. The Democrats tried this exact strategy with Trump and Kavanaugh, so you'll have to excuse my skepticism when the same argument gets brought out again. If he admits or is found guilty of noodling high school girls, then yeah, toss his ass out.

I was indifferent to the pick when it was made because I didn't know much about him. After reading up on his policy record, I don't see anything damning or disqualifying there.
- He has the legal education and background that the position requires.
- Gaetz was the catalyst for removing McCarthy as House Speaker, which was a net positive. In the three weeks we did not have a speaker, the US government did not pass any laws to send our tax dollar to Israel or Ukraine. After Johnson came back, we passed something like 8 bills to fund foreign wars (that Gaetz voted against).
- He's one of only two House reps in Florida who is not endorsed by AIPAC, and one of the things I noticed is that all the voices against him ARE endorsed by AIPAC.
- He voted to ban noncompete clauses, which until last year, more or less banned physicians from working in the same town or surrounding counties if they changed jobs - huge QOL improvement for me personally.
- He voted to decrease FBI surveillance powers.
- He votes consistently to reduce corporate power when it comes to contract law, arbitration, antitrust, and is a vocal advocate of Joe Biden's appointee to Commission the FTC, Lina Khan (Just learned about her too, and she seems awesome).
- Willing to cross the aisle for good ideas
- When he sits on congressional committees and grills people on behalf of the taxpayer, he attacks them with cogent arguments.
Personally, I'd like to see someone like him take a sledgehammer to the DOJ. That's why many of us voted for Trump.
Are there any specific policies of his that you dislike?

"I know Matt personally. He is a great person. He's a man of integrity. He also is a brilliant litigator. He served on the House Judiciary Committee for eight years. Anyone who has watched him in those hearings knows that he's incredibly impressive," Karoline Leavitt, the transition team’s spokesperson

Just on Fox news, he is withdrawing his name from consideration for AG. I guess he took my advice.?

Is Jim Jordan a poser or the real deal?

Probably had a lot on him. If so, lock him up too.

Is Jim Jordan a poser or the real deal?
I am gonna be so disappointed if it's someone like Jim Jordan or Max Miller. The whole point of electing Trump was to enact change. Color me shocked that Gaetz, the guy who was pointing out that Republicans on the House Ethics Committee are making tens of millions of dollars off of insider trading, conveniently has a pedo accusation. One that Merrick Garland investigated but refused to prosecute. I'm really not thrilled that he gets ousted because of an accusation.
I guess my next top choices would be Ken Paxton or Greg Abbott, though I doubt he'd want to leave being governor.
