On the one hand, it's good to see bubble teams getting a shot. On the other hand, one of the greatest parts of The Rivalry was that if you knocked out the favorite, then they could kiss their chance at the natty goodbye. Also weird that Oregon is the Big Ten Champ.

IMO, the difference between Oregon and Ohio State is the Head Coach.  Look no further than the complete mismanagement of the situation and clock at the end of that game.  An old saying that still holds true today "if you fail to prepare you should prepare to fail."  Then again, after seeing Ohio State's kicker choke against Michigan - I'm not so sure he would have been up to the challenge of making a game winner vrs Oregon either.

My 1st attraction to Ohio State back in the day (aside from their uniforms) was their ability to run the ball behind a great Offensive Line.  Archie Griffin won 2 Heisman Trophies in a 4 year career where he averaged 6.1 yards per carry.  One of the years he won the Heisman in 74 he averaged 6.9 yards per carry while rushing for 1620 yards and 12 TDs on the ground.  Then, the last time they were National Champions their 1st BCS Playoff opponent Alabama knew Zeke Elliott was getting the ball and they couldn't stop him.  Fun stuff!  THIS Ohio State team doesn't give me any of these feelings.  There's something missing and it starts at the top.

All that said, I'd be thrilled to be wrong about that.  If I'm not and they stick with Ryan Day - it's gonna impact the recruiting advantages they have had to date.

I hope he wins the national championship and then gets fired for not beating Michigan lol.

The Vols talking shit all week about tearing down the goal posts, and planting a flag.

    Way to go rednecks!

They did look like they prepared for a picnic.  That ended as soon as the opening kickoff.  You might be a redneck if you're wearing a football uniform and a helmet and you're surprised you're not at a picnic...

Transfer Portal is ruining bowls not in the playoffs. 4 DLs in the portal plus the two best out for the NFL draft equaled a 35-31 loss after having a 24-7 lead in the 2nd half for Texas A&M. Nobody to rotate means the DL is worn down by midway into the 3rd Q. And I am sure there are other similar stories throughout all the bowls. The bowls plus preparation are there just to give teams at least something equal to summer camp like all the ones in the playoffs get, just not as extended as the top 8 in the playoffs. What does that mean for college football? About the same as it did when the top 10 were illegally playing for play. Only see the same ones every year with an occasional outlier in the playoffs. The only exception I see for the past few years is Nebraska. They used to be one of the elite 10. And USC is teetering on that exclusion more recently.

OSU receivers are sooooo good. If Smith could declare now, I'd be calling for the Browns to draft him. Hope the dude makes a shit ton of NIL money.
