A 2025 Mock Draft - 1st Round
-
This is just to get a quick glance at where various players and positions are projecting while there's a lot to be settled in terms of draft slots.

I welcome the only Defensive Coordinator to earn a Superbowl Ring in New Orleans while understanding Revenge of the Nerds is a sequel. "Come get some!" -
Lots of OTackles and Edges.
Browns have the ability to move around because of this.
Staying put in the 5-7 range, a really good player at a need position should fall right into our laps, if they stay put.

Does Georgia really have 3 edge rushers worthy of projections between #10 & 15? That said, for the most part - this looks like a good place to get some sense of direction.

Or we could trade back to #9... ?

Yeah, I definitely like our options.

I think we should trade back to #22. Then take the Bama QB to assure our place in history on the T-shirt of QBs.

Damn it you beat me to this! ?

Shocked that the moment you saw Milroe and Bama you didn't volunteer to offer him a hand jibber.
Edit: as for Milroe. His inconsistent decision making, accuracy struggles, especially from tight spaces and pushing the ball vertically scare me quite a bit.
His game reminds me a good deal of Jake Lockers.

In your opinion AP, what's our best case scenario or scenarios? Do you want Berry doing our drafting or are you like me in not trusting his ability to draft?
I don't trust Berry's ability to draft.
But I'm also not willing to sacrifice the Browns having their best HC since Marty so that a new GM can start from scratch, which means finding that GM's head coach.
I say trade back, but I think it's important to stay in the Top 12 and I agree with Dutch there are plenty of options at LT and EDGE.
I'd rather build a strong roster and find a serviceable QB than try to swing for the fences with a "franchise" QB.

just stupid = that pick.
How high could Jalen Milroe be drafted in 2025? Looking at Alabama QB's draft stock
-
Surprised they have Johnson lasting until 19 and that also being the first CB (depending on what you think about Hunter)
-
Hunter is amazing. Dion says "don't draft him unless you will play him both ways".
That may affect his being a top pick or not.

There are some things Deion Sanders does as a Head Coach that I applaud.
There are some things he does as a Head Coach make me think he should let actions speak louder than words.
This falls into the latter. Statements like this, telling NFL Franchises what they should or shouldn't do with his sons and players will drive quality franchises away. Maybe he thinks he'll attract the right franchises with stuff like this.
I think Shaduer and Travis Hunter come with a lot of baggage and I don't want the social media influencer circus I believe they would bring.

Yep - Hunter is amazing, but he has already had injury problems... playing both ways, he gets hurt, and can't play on either side. The "don't draft me if you won't let me be in control" seems likely to annoy a few teams.
But Hunter is also a guy who is generously helping his teammates get NIL money....

Take a look at this new CBS mock draft @flugel.

This is interesting. This guy is very intriguing and fun to watch at the college level. Here's my caution about him in terms of 2 way usage - he only weighs 185 lbs. Most everyone that watched Deion Sanders play knew he wasn't there to tackle people; and he often reminded people/reporters of this. That's the only corner I can ever remember that got pardoned for such a trait. The reason? He was an absolute shut down corner.
IMO, Deion is using this opportunity to market his football program to future prospects as he should. FWIW, Hunter wasn't being heavily recruited by Major DI football programs so chose to go play at Jackson State in 2022 before re-uniting with Deion at Color-adoo. Desmond Howard once won the Heisman too and the only thing people remember about his NFL career was his Super Bowl MVP game with a 99 yard kickoff return and setting a record for return yardage in a Super Bowl with 244 return yards. While that's awesome - he never really came anywhere close to the level of production he had as a WR in college.
All that said, the football fan in me is very tempted by this guy's God-givens. Deion's already cashing in on him at Color-adoo. The show-down here will be temptation of talent vrs survival of 185 pound frame as a fulltime NFL crash test dummy. Hold on a second here comes Derrick Henry with a full head of steam. Ooops, we have a business decision called "OLAY" and Hunter stays healthy... Phew! I dare say I'm still tempted though. It ain't like our secondary tackles people anyway... This guy can score points on either side of the ball.

Hunter seems like a good kid, apparently he does well in the classroom too, but....
I'd probably just trade down and take Will Johnson and not have to worry about the potential headache of "Are the Browns using Hunter correctly because he only saw so many snaps as WR last week!" headlines.
