  • Hunter is amazing. Dion says "don't draft him unless you will play him both ways".

That may affect his being a top pick or not.

There are some things Deion Sanders does as a Head Coach that I applaud.

There are some things he does as a Head Coach make me think he should let actions speak louder than words.

This falls into the latter. Statements like this, telling NFL Franchises what they should or shouldn't do with his sons and players will drive quality franchises away. Maybe he thinks he'll attract the right franchises with stuff like this.

I think Shaduer and Travis Hunter come with a lot of baggage and I don't want the social media influencer circus I believe they would bring.

Yep - Hunter is amazing, but he has already had injury problems... playing both ways, he gets hurt, and can't play on either side. The "don't draft me if you won't let me be in control" seems likely to annoy a few teams.

But Hunter is also a guy who is generously helping his teammates get NIL money....

This is interesting.  This guy is very intriguing and fun to watch at the college level.  Here's my caution about him in terms of 2 way usage - he only weighs 185 lbs.  Most everyone that watched Deion Sanders play knew he wasn't there to tackle people; and he often reminded people/reporters of this.  That's the only corner I can ever remember that got pardoned for such a trait.  The reason?  He was an absolute shut down corner.

IMO, Deion is using this opportunity to market his football program to future prospects as he should.  FWIW, Hunter wasn't being heavily recruited by Major DI football programs so chose to go play at Jackson State in 2022 before re-uniting with Deion at Color-adoo. Desmond Howard once won the Heisman too and the only thing people remember about his NFL career was his Super Bowl MVP game with a 99 yard kickoff return and setting a record for return yardage in a Super Bowl with 244 return yards.  While that's awesome - he never really came anywhere close to the level of production he had as a WR in college.

All that said, the football fan in me is very tempted by this guy's God-givens.  Deion's already cashing in on him at Color-adoo.  The show-down here will be temptation of talent vrs survival of 185 pound frame as a fulltime NFL crash test dummy.   Hold on a second here comes Derrick Henry with a full head of steam.  Ooops, we have a business decision called "OLAY" and Hunter stays healthy...  Phew!  I dare say I'm still tempted though.  It ain't like our secondary tackles people anyway... This guy can score points on either side of the ball.

  • Hunter seems like a good kid, apparently he does well in the classroom too, but....

I'd probably just trade down and take Will Johnson and not have to worry about the potential headache of "Are the Browns using Hunter correctly because he only saw so many snaps as WR last week!" headlines.

Take a look at this new CBS mock draft @flugel.

    You'll like it, I guarantee it. ?

So I post this, then wander over to Facebook...

My Browns season-ticket holder buddy pops up in my private messages with this question:

"So if Mason Graham is there at #7, do you take him?" ?

Love it!   Mason Graham is as Country Strong as it gets.  I know there's prolly a lot of eyes rolling with "DT - are you FREAKIN kidding me?"  Nick Saban said that he and Bill Belichick both agreed that you build your defense from the inside out dating all the way back to when they worked together in Cleveland.  Yeah, the era has changed; BUT 2022 wasn't that long ago when our IDL was forfeiting against the run.  It was hard to watch that kind of football when winning was becoming impossible.  When Pro Bowl NT Bob Golic was here the Browns were #1 against the run and frequented AFC Championship Games.  When the Ravens had their most dominating defense the season they won the Super Bowl in 2000 - they had a 340 lb DT Tony Siragusa teaming up with a 350 lb Pro Bowl and All Pro DT Same Adams.  They dominated against the run all season and throughout the playoffs and into the Super Bowl.

It's not like this selection would be the reason the Browns won't land the next Patrick Mahomes in this draft.  Limited supply for the demand would be more of the reason. I think a QB like the Kyle McCord that was much better coached at Syracuse in his 2nd year as a starter could be a guy we could bring here and develop the right way.  If you go 9-3 at Syracuse these days - you're bringing something special they haven't had there since Donovan McNabb too many moons ago...

There's a lot of good ways we can go in this draft that I'm open to so I'm going to try to have some fun with it all....

  • I really do like Graham, and if he does project as a DTackle unicorn that is excellent vs the run and as a pass rusher, I’d be more than happy to take him at #7 or wherever we end up.

It’s just that those guys are very rare. Like a Republican politician with a backbone and ethics rare, Flugs. ?

  • What’s your thoughts on the two Aggies edge players @texasag1969? Scourton and Stewart?

I think they will both be good mid and late 1st round picks respectively. Both have opted out of the bowl game due to feedback they are first rounders. For some reason former Aggies Nolan and Overton are higher rated that I would pick either one. Should be interesting.

EDIT: I would love to see Scourton on the opposite end of Myles. He's quick and fast with some bend. But nobody bends like Myles. He can learn to get better there from the best in the game.

FWIW, I'm open to a lot of guys that could be on our door step.  As for that party, Elon Musk already outranks that entire party.

There’s quite a few guys I really like in the first, a lot of the are Big Ten players. We draft too high, but I’d love to get the TE from Penn State or TTUN.

  • I saw some (crazy) Browns fans want Drew Allar.

It would be a good story locally, but wow, he really isn't impressive. Needs A LOT more time to develop.

He has looked very rough at times when given the time to make things happen that are within his control.

?  We'll put him in the "he's a nice kid though" category with Mitch Trubisky.  Not that there's anything wrong with that when we see how much backup QBs make in this league today.  I think it's important for Allar to go back for another year of experience.  I say that to say this - I wouldn't have wanted Bo Nix coming out of Auburn a couple years ago.  However I felt much differently watching him at Oregon.  As fate would have it, Nix has had a very impressive rookie year at QB.

Yeah, maybe just maybe, we get our "turn of fate" soon.

    Kosar 1986

Didn't Nix play like a decade of college football? ?

On paper, he checks a lot of boxes. He's got the size, he's got the arm, he's got the ability to run when the opportunity presents itself.

But there's just something missing with him on the field. He doesn't seem to play confident.

That being said, he's going back to Penn State and he'll definitely be someone I'll keep an eye on, because he's got a lot of positives.
