Remaining Schedule: This is based on today, 12-18-24. What we need is based on us losing out.
Browns - Bengals, Dolphins, Ravens What we need: Obviously, lose out.
Raiders - Jaguars, Saints, Chargers What we need: 2 wins. - we're screwed.
Patriots - Bills, Chargers, Bills What we need: 1 win. They will probably lose all.
Titans - Colts, Jaguars, Texans What we need: 1 win.
Jaguars - Raiders, Titans, Colts What we need: Beat the Colts and lose to everyone else.
Giants - Falcons, Colts, Eagles What we need: 2 wins. - we're screwed.
Panthers - Cardinals, Bucs, Falcons What we need: 1 win
If we lose out, I'm guessing that we'll probably wind up with pick #5. (Raiders, Giants, Patriots, Panthers, Browns)

But that doesn't mean I'm uninspired.

Well, if our last trade for a QB is any indication... Do we really want to see the same brain trust adding on more collateral damage to what they already gutted here?
The same 2 NFC QBs Darnold & Mayfield that are having Pro Bowl caliber seasons today only blended in with stench in Carolina. The franchise/FO, coaching staff and surrounding talent has everything to do with why they were able to fail in Carolina before succeeding in Minnesota/Tampa.
Just my Obs, Stefanski tends to be more successful with recycled guys like Flacco, Crablegs on a couple occasions and even Case Keenum. In Minnesota he beat Drew Brees and the Saints in the 1st round of the playoffs with Case Keenum albeit with a Hail Mary pass on the final play. Maybe he prefers imperfections that fall within the offenses he's experienced success with in the past. Keep in mind, the Vikings felt compelled to bring in Gary Kubiak as an offensive Consultant/Assistant to boost the overall efficiency.
Fair or not, the NFL has seen this FO determine Baker just doesn't have it before they gave up what they gave up for Watson. Baker is on his 2nd straight season of performing like a Pro Bowl QB even if they lost 5 of 6 games without Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Regardless of some bouts of immaturity, it was up to this Owner/FO and staff to make it work.
Where are we now? Heading into a limited supply of franchise QBs for a big demand. Do we have the right FO and staff in place? What a rollercoaster ride from being 11-6 last year to a lot of band aids coming off in conjunction with injuries to a team trying to overcome 3 consecutive years without a 1st round draft pick.
I'm open to ideas...
Seems like Cousins may be on the market - I made a post about it. I'm not sure the status of Daniel Jones. But we some kind of bridge QB as none of these guy we'd be able to draft should start day 1 - this assumes we miss out on Ward and Sanders.

Well said USF! Washington drafted RG3 in the 1st round the same year they took Cousins in the 4th round. How many people at that time were thinking Kirk Cousins was going to end up with the longer, more successful career? He could definitely be an option if the Browns aren't drafting 1 or 2.
The Kyle McCord I saw at Syracuse this year was very impressive if we want to draft a mid-late round QB along the lines of the original thought Mike Shanahan had with Kirk Cousins. He's only a 2 year starter so this could be a steal, which never happens in Cleveland with the QB position on draft day. If they went this route, they could bring Cousins here to be the starter. This could enable the Browns to draft a talented Left Tackle with their 1st pick that is passionate about the game and being a professional. Imagine that...
Another possibility if they go BPA, Michigan's DT Mason Graham could be there for the taking to solidify the middle with Mike Hall Jr.

I like the idea of Graham. Two solid DTs side by side is devastating to defend. QB's don't do well with up the middle pressure.

I was once called crazy because the Browns had a strength along their Dline that I said could be made elite by taking another IDL at #4, which eventually became #8 - that ended up being Aaron Donald.
Graham is a hell of a player. But at top 10 along the IDL has to be a transcendent talent. That means you don't leave the field, have an elite stuff and run defense grade AND a great pass rush set.
Dexter Lawrence, I sort of call him "new Ngata", is probably the best comparison, if it can't be Donald.
Apart from The Game, I haven't watched much of Graham. I will, but if he doesn't fit that mold, then taking an IDL that high is something of a "meh".

You beat me to this, I was thinking the same thing. I really like Graham, but DTackles that high almost feels like taking a running back that high. Hard to swallow.

BPA isn't always draft sexy. I think you'll like what you see when you watch him. He has another year of eligibility; but he's proven everything he needs to so he's entering the draft. I'd be very interested in seeing what you can put together about him after the Holidays. I think were going to be losing some of our IDL band aids.
Need says LT that willing to show up in shape to training camp. A Safety that knows how to communicate, tackle and make a difference. This defense also needs better performance at Corner. We can always use another LBer or Edge Rusher. The Browns need to look for a RB in round 3 or 4. RT might also be a good idea since we haven't had much durability there.
Of course we need a QB but maybe that doesn't need to be at #1 or #2 for a team that looks like it will be drafting after. We've been discussing some interesting options in various threads.
I sent Santa my list; and he sent this back: "KNOCK IT OFF FLUGEL - YOU'RE ALREADY ON THE NAUGHTY LIST!"

The thing is, it looks possible that there won’t be a LT worth say the #5 overall pick. Graham could end up being well worth the pick IF he projects as a DT who would excel vs the run and as a pass rusher. Like Tia said though, that’s incredibly rare.

Remaining Schedule: This is based on today, 12-23-24. What we need is based on us losing out.
Browns - Dolphins, Ravens What we need: Obviously, lose both.
Raiders - Saints, Chargers What we need: Probably 1 win.
Patriots - Chargers, Bills What we need: 1 win. They will probably lose both.
Titans - Jaguars, Texans What we need: 1 win.
Jaguars - Titans, Colts What we need: 1 win. Best if the one win was against the Colts.
Giants - Colts, Eagles What we need: 2 wins (maybe just 1 win). - We're screwed.
We can possibly get up to pick #3 (maybe even #2). The Giants now are all but assured pick #1. They'll take a QB.
The Patriots will probably be at pick #2. They'll probably not pick a QB. (but could trade with someone who will)
If pick #3 goes to the Jaguars, they probably will not pick a QB. (but could trade if the Patriots don't trade)
If the Raiders and / or Titans end up picking ahead of us, they'll probably pick a QB.
Reports have us currently slotted at #5 using current strength of schedule...but the SOS calculation isn't truly valid until all of the data is in. That means, until after the final week of the regular season.

Come on FO from Harvard - don't tell me you forgot how to study for all those big tests. There's lots of film out there so giddy up and get after it. Forget the 1 year band-aids for a change and focus on how to build a team and healthy salary cap. If you don't know how to draft we're stuck in park...

Watched film of Cam Ward vs Duke. The first comparison that came to mind was Johnny Manziel. Piss-poor footwork with his whole body squared up with the line of scrimmage during his dropback. Looks for the big play all the time. Mobile with decent pocket awareness, but not fast enough to pull this stuff off at the next level. Don't want him at all and doubt anyone will love him enough to trade up with us to get him.
Also looked at Sanders vs Baylor. Excellent footwork. Has a decent enough deep ball, but not enough arm strength to rely on it at the NFL level. Mobile with good pocket awareness. He's intriguing, looks like you could plug him into a pro system more easily than Ward. He's never coming to Cleveland though with what Coach Prime has said when asked if his son were to be drafted by a poorly run franchise.

I also saw Coach Prime tweet something that he was misquoted on that.
I do think if the NYG pick 1st, Deion would be thrilled with his son in the Big Apple. No clue if Deion would be ok with the Browns & Stefanski.
Just my opinion, I'd rebuild the trenches & grab some playmaking LB. Our defense desperately needs an impact LB or 2.

Watched Milroe vs Vandy. His mid-range accuracy and touch stands out. Didn't really showcase a big arm in this game. His footwork is good although a bit flat-footed. Pocket presence and mobility is good, but not fast enough to be much of a running threat at the NFL level.
My QB Big Board with a sample size of 1 game of each of these QBs is
1 - Sanders
2 - Milroe
3 - Ward -
