  • If there is a QB they believe is a franchise QB you take him.  But don't drop back farther that about 5-6, take Abdul Carter.

I could see a trade back and then a trade up.  I like Carter a lot too.  There is nothing in my opinion equal to him let’s say at 12. There could be a steep overpay better than the 49ers Dolphins trade in 2021 for someone to get to 2 and much smaller ask for us to go from 12 to 6.

If there is one player think ranks right up there with Warren....it's Abdul Carter. IT's been reported that there is legit question - will Owusu-Koramoah be able to return to football at all? Given that....I would pick Carter and have an All-pro lb for years.

Terrible injury for Koramoah - but will not be disabled - he's fortunate. I don't see him returning.

'Actually, It could come down to this:

FIRST ROUND #2 = ABDUL CARTER

TRADE BACK UP INTO LATE FIRST ROUND -

    ............JACK SAWYER, Ohio State, DE.

    that would be cool.

    Incredibly different "LB"

So you want us to draft two Defensive Ends with first round picks?

I guess you can't have enough pass rushers, but with Myles Garrett on the team already it seems like we should possibly go in another direction with the #33 pick.

    And it's Jack Sawyer ?

I agree, IF they think Ward or Sanders is a franchise QB. What I don't want them to do is force the issue and reach for one because they feel like they have to.

Love Carter, he's my favorite for the Browns. I don't think he gets past #4 though, tops.

Here's the thing, when you don't have a QB because your incredibly big QB trade flopped, and you have a team that was built to win now, how do you walk up to Jimmy Haslem and tell him, We're not picking one of the two best QB's in the draft?  I mean, Jimmuh's first question is gonna be, OK, so what's your plan.  And ya better have one because the team ain't worth $#!+ without a QB.

We'll have a better idea regarding 'The Plan' when the new league year starts and Free Agency opens up.

Abdul Carter Draft Projection: What to Know About Penn State DE in 2025 NFL Draft Including 40-Time and Best Fits

    "

Abdul Carter 40-Time and Draft Metrics

Carter’s athleticism is one of the cornerstones of his draft profile. His speed and explosiveness are rare for his position. Let’s take a quick look at how we think Carter will perform in the NFL Combine:

    • Projected 40-Yard Dash Time: 4.48 seconds, an elite time for a defensive end.
    • Projected Shuttle Run: 4.35 seconds, highlighting his quick lateral movement.
    • Projected Broad Jump: 3.23 meters (10 feet 7 inches), demonstrating his lower-body explosiveness.

These projected numbers would not only confirm his athletic potential but also underscore his ability to translate his physical gifts into on-field production."

    ************************************************************

on the other hand, looking into his background, I change my mind. lol

red flags on character - I hate that. So, I would trade down a bit, and draft Warren.

Trade back up into the first round and draft Sawyer.

and still keep a 2nd round pick and draft

. Alabama image Jihaad Campbell, OLB/ILB, Alabama
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 244.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
    Projected Round (2025): 1-2.

1/11/25: Campbell had a big-time presence for the Crimson Tide in their road blowout of LSU. He had 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble and was an active defender in both phases. Campbell showed versatility by dropping into coverage as well as rushing the passer. Campbell is a big linebacker with speed and athleticism to go with his size. In 2024, he had 108 tackles with five sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception, and two passes broken up. Campbell looks like an early-round talent for the 2025 or 2026 NFL Draft.

    2. Alabama image Deonte Lawson, OLB/ILB, Alabama
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 239.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
    Projected Round (2025): 2-3.

1/11/25: Lawson has been a tough defender for the Crimson Tide in 2024, making a lot of plays in the ground game and contributing some plays in pass defense. He had 76 tackles with two sacks, one forced fumble, an interception, and four passes defended. In 2023, he had 67 tackles with three sacks and four passes defended after recording 51 tackles and four passes broken up.

But can Andrew Berry do that?  Knowing that his job is dangling by a thread?  That would be hard for anyone in his position to do.  Again, FA will be an indicator.

    I don't know.

I'm saying, again, that I'm not sold on Ward at #2, and I'm not blown away with Sanders enough to make me want to deal with the circus that would surround him.

I'd like a starting QB that is not a clown show. I've had my fill with Billy Manziel, Baker and Deshaun.

Here's another thing when it comes to QBs - as much as this team needs one, do the Browns EVER understand what goes into developing one?  For example, if there's a good chance an offensive coaching staff is going to get fired after the 1st year of training a rookie QB in THAT system - now they gotta deprogram a lot of that training for a new system. Since Jimmy doesn't believe he makes mistakes (ie: bad hires) - here comes Jimmy's quick impatience with the QB battling inevitable struggles.  I wish I could say all that was exclusive to Jimmy; but he's just history repeating history when it comes to drafting the right QB.

I don't know enough about Ward to give anyone an honest analysis and conclusion to say whether I think he's right or wrong for this team.  I will say this, the Owner and FO better have a FUCKING LT to protect the blind side of their big investment at QB whoever that may be.

I think they made a good choice with the OC as long as he's empowered to do what an OC should do.

I'm not normally a big Tony Grossi guy; but in this conversation he kind of provided me as the listener to what they want from Rees (per my concern in the last sentence of my previous reply).  I think that comes about 12:10 into the video. While Milroe probably isn't the guy I would put at the apex of priority - my guess is he's their plan but not at #2 overall.  If Rees would be allowed to do with him what he did at Alabama - maybe it would change my mind some.  It just seems to me that the QB (Watson) that made the Pro Bowl the 3 and only 3 years he suited up in Houston - looked about as far away from the right QB for the Stefanski Offense (barrowed from Gary Kubiak and diluted with Office Depodesta). Again, is it the QB choice we need to worry most about or the setup here?  Maybe I dug a little further into what was said than I needed to.

Just so you know, there are some annoying ads/commercials that allow you to hit the skip prompt but it's an interesting conversation worth listening to IMO.

With Tommy Rees onboard, I'm charting snaps from 2023 and 2024 for Milroe because he's very much a target.  Going to have a full article and work-up on it.

Unless this plans on being a run heavy team that also incorporates his legs on designs much like Philly and Baltimore, my current findings want no part of Milroe in the top 50.    Even then, he isn't as competent as a passer that Hurts was coming out of college.   The changes Kalen Debour has made to their passing structures to help improve QB has shown that Jalen hasn't made strides in his processing speed from year to year.

I'll have more, a lot more on that later, which I'll post to the board.  I still have rookie recaps to finish and having a full time job really gets in the way of my passion 🙁

Thanks! I didn't share that because I want us to draft Milroe. I don't have a favorite yet and I'll probably be leaning for an early mid round QB. I just felt compelled to listen to the conversation based on the previous association Rees had with Milroe that the owner and FO seem fascinated with.

There's no question that the OL (LT!  G?) and QB needs addressing in order to field a team next season.  From FA, the draft, or both, we don't know yet.

One hundred million bazillion quintrillion percent....

This is a strong draft for LTs. On many boards, the Top 5 OL in this draft are LTs, and 7 of the Top 10 OL are LTs.

Abdul Carter lined up against four of these guys this past season - Milium (WV), Simmons (OSU), Conerly, Jr (Ore) and Ersey (Minn).

In my opinion, Ersey from Minnesota did the best job of slowing down and controlling Abdul Carter. I say that to show how deep I think this Draft Class is at LT.

I believe they should draft Abdul Carter with their first pick. I think they can still draft a Franchise LT at 33.

I don't see Carter lasting longer than the fourth pick. The Giants pick third. They need a QB. Realistically, they'd be the best trade. What's that trade look like?

Some recent similar trades are attached.

I agree with you. Draft a QB in the middle rounds. They should also bring in a FA QB for 2025. I give credit to Ballpeen for first posting this about QBs, at least that I saw. The Browns don't need a HOF QB. They just need a solid QB.

True; but I think this FO will have picks near the top of every round. That's quite an opportunity for any FO and their scouts.  With a rookie salary cap today - you can build yourself a good team with a healthy salary cap if you're good at the draft.

I will say this, the Owner and FO better have a FUCKING LT to protect the blind side of their big investment at QB whoever that may be.

Wow!  Thanks for sharing that list of OTs and OGs.  Another guy that should be moving up the board is the LG for the Buckeyes that filled in admirably at LT (Donovan Jackson) for Josh Simmons.
