It's just a law forum, but read through that top answer. It very clearly lays it all out. It even references past cases regarding illegal immigrants, where the amendment was upheld.

You might be on board with mowing down a bunch of kids who were born here (but their parents weren’t), but l’m not sure the majority of Americans would be cool with that.
