Tell that to every team that has ever rebuilt in the history of sports.
Then how did the Lions turn it around?
Draft, with a few FAs.
The draft is designed to help teams reload. The Browns' main problem has been subpar drafts and signing some lousy FAs.
It's damn near impossible to suck 21 out of 25 years, but that's the reality here.

It started with them trading Matt Stafford.
Jared Goff was a throw-in, everyone thought he was just a bridge QB at the time. He's actually put up Matt Stafford numbers since going to Detroit, which allowed the Lions to use a high pick on some other position instead of another QB like they did years ago with Stafford, after another rebuild.

True. However, the Browns just went 3-14 proving there's countless needs to address with no guarantees the 2026 QB class will be ANY better than this one. In fact, Andrew Berry hasn't even proven he's very good at the draft - and now his job security is counting on it. The only Pro Bowl player he's drafted since 2020 may not ever take the field again.

They have the GM our Owner fired Bob; so while we can't stop hearing about the loss of Baker - look what John Dorsey did for Detroit. Prior to Cleveland, John Dorsey drafted Patrick Mahomes for KC. The only question I have is which Haslam is Depodesta playing Naked Twister with?

The more appropriate question may be, which one is he not?

See I happen to think they just drafted well. I'm not trying to argue with you.
I've completely lost faith in Berry

Bob, the last time Berry was here - that staff traded back then reached. All energies on draft day were chasing the trading partners and celebrating the # of trading partners. This felt like it was at the expense of being prepared to decide who was the best choice for the newly adjusted/unscheduled spot. They dressed their choices up with the ole "we'll just coach em up and get em developed." That's fine if you're not firing multiple coaches every other year. Unfortunately, a lot of those picks never panned out. This year, I'll understand a trade back that gets us 1 more 1st or 2nd round pick than the Browns were scheduled to have. That said, if we start seeing trade-backs to round 5 or 6 for just special teams players - we're blowing off competing on downs 1-3 IMO.
My picking on Berry without knowing how much Depodesta pulls rank on him for the draft could be very wrong. It's clear Philly(Where Berry last worked with/under Howie Roseman) uses a lot of film (as did John Dorsey) while I'm not sold all those umbrellaed under Depodesta here are allowed to put that in front of Office Depo-desta's numbers and spreadsheets. This FO has made this entire team building/ draft process far more difficult than it has needed to be IMO.

I I stand (sit) by my statement. The NFL world will catch up with me someday. Let's take golf. I always used to say that it's stupid that I have to take the flag out of the hole when I get on the green. My ball could be a couple of inches from the fringe, from where I could putt it with the flag in. I mean, it's ok to hit the flag with the ball from anywhere else on the course except the green. It took COVID for golf to catch up with me. You watch, someday they'll make the hole larger...
Ya know what John Dorsey did when he got here? He took those 'valuable draft pick' assets and traded them for actual football players. The draft is a crap-shoot.

Well not building in performance incentives had a lot to do with the failures in FA. Many just came, collected final paychecks and disappeared without contributing diddly squat.
