Myles Garrett Requests Trade
-
He has a no-trade clause in his contract which gives him the right to refuse to be traded, however, since he is asking to be traded can he refuse to be traded to a team not to his liking? … or does he not have a choice
All Myles can do is refuse a long term deal with another team, Browns hold all the card's, Also the raiders have the 2nd most cap space in the league and if they blow him away with a monster deal Your goddamn right he would pack his bags for Vegas.

You are correct sir. All Myles can technically do is nothing. Well, and possibly cost himself money.
His contract does NOT contain a no trade clause (Watson's does though). He is under contract for the 25' and 26' seasons. He has no guaranteed money left on his contract. His current cap hit to CLE if traded is not insignificant. Him asking for a trade doesn't give him any leverage, nor does it reduce his trade value. It also does nothing to accelerate moving him, or what this likely really is about, a new contract.
If/when he started not showing up to work, not playing, or playing hard, or being a distraction....

Ah, Watson. This is the end result of all of that.
Yes. He wants to win. And he can't do that here. Because? All together now, Because We Don't Have A QB.

Interesting take on it.
I don't like that he's airing this out in the public arena. This should be done between him, his agent and the Browns.
Perhaps a trade with the Titans.

I am also certain the Browns will get at least a conditional 3rd round choice for Garret, based on the Watson deal

I am not a fan of either side ever negotiating through any type of media. But this is the sports world + media we have lived in for a long time now (TO doing push ups in his drive way). Like it or not, it's the norm. It's a world where removing anything regarding the team from ones social media pages is seen/used in attempt for negotiation leverage.

This tells me that there is absolutely no chance of this team ever being competitive while Berry is GM....but I guess I already knew that. WTF is really wrong with this moron Haslam? Did he buy this team to completely destroy what was left after the Lerner fiasco? Now, any players that are decent want out. How can you blame them? What kills me, is that I saw this coming when they made that dumbass trade for the loser Watson. That was no gamble...that was a sure loss. they had just reached a level of competency with Mayfield, and tear all that down for this? Yeah...I know some of you despise Baker because of his immaturity and arrogance. At least there was a little hope when he was here. Any player that takes pride in his job, doesn't want to be associated with this team. I seriously, doubt if this team can ever recover from this mess.

True. Having said that, this team won 11 games in 2023 despite using 5 different QBs. And do you know who gave our QBs a margin of error? Myles Garrett shortening countless series for opposing teams with sacks, TFL, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, deflected passes, forced throwaways, and he even jumped over a Center to block a kick. On top off all that, offenses had to help their Tackles by assigning either a TE to help or use a back to chip or stay in to assist with the pass pro helping our coverage in the back 2 tiers with 1 or 2 less potential receivers in route. That's why Micah Parsons (a DPOY finalist) in 2023 said if you watch the film you understand why Myles Garrett is the obvious DPOY. The only playoff game this team won in this century began with Myles Garrett scoring a TD on the very first snap of the game in Pittsburgh. The same night the pass rush forced Roethlisberger into throwing 4 INTs. I don't remember TJ Watt making much a difference that night at all. ?

This is a setup.
There is some agreement between Myles and the Browns front office. The trade request is to soften Browns fans for when they deal Myles. The Browns are going to rebuild, again. They have to do this after the Watson disaster. It just sucks to lose the best player we have.

Myles agent group is Klutch sports, Well it seems a top exec there is married to Tyler Hamblin who is the director of operations for the Browns,

My guess is, Garrett has put feelers out to the Browns, and only started talking to the media when they were a brick wall.
The watson deal was a failure as soon as they did it.
Some bought into the "chance" to go to the superbowl after all.
But it wasn't to be. Some of us KNEW it.
Anyways, Garrett has been outstanding, this FO, owner and hc are NOT.
Trade him since he wants out, Garrett's given up on the Browns is a justified
decision on his part.
The Deshaun Watson trade continues to leave collateral damage in its wake for the Cleveland Browns

Myles Garrett’s trade request — Is it part of a contract negotiation? – Terry PlutoCleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett takes a break from the action on the sideline against the Miami Dolphins in the second half.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns fans, what we have here is a war of words.
At the Senior Bowl last week, Browns GM Andrew Berry said he wouldn’t trade Myles Garrett – not even for a pair of first-round picks.
Berry also said this about his star defensive end at his postseason press conference: “My anticipation, expectation is that he’ll have a direct ticket from Cleveland to Canton at the end of his years and expect him to be here and retire a Brown, quite frankly.”
Canton is a reference to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Well, Garrett said this as part of his written request to be traded:
“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent … The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl.
“With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”
There you have it … a problem.
Browns can keep Garrett
Do the Browns have to trade Garrett? No.
In fact, I’m hearing the Browns are standing behind what Berry has been saying for quite a while – they intend to keep Garrett.
Can that change? Of course.
But the Browns have the NFL’s premier defensive player, at least in their opinion. He’s 29 and in the prime of his career.
I checked my sources again today. They want Garrett with the team long term, and they are working to make that happen.

Seems to me it would be more satisfying helping a team get to a SB than being traded to a team already built to go... almost like a participation trophy.
They could keep him for 5 more years if they wanted to.
You mean kinda like how Joe Thomas got to the SB? ..............................................................oh wait!?
-
...yeah, everything is fair game now. The pedestal that Joe Thomas sits on just keeps getting higher.
I've never seen a FO in Cleveland given more tenure for less. You know, one that wouldn't even be capable of drafting a Myles Garrett, Joel Bitonio, Denzel Ward, Nick Chubb, David Njoku or finding an untapped vet like Wyatt Teller that has frequented Pro Bowls. That guy (John Dorsey) got fired for the Office Depodesta spreadsheets; so he could go to the Detroit Lions and put them in position to frequent the playoffs. Meanwhile, the only Pro Bowl caliber guy Berry has drafted has been JOK whose career may already be over.
All this stuff we continue to go through; and the Worst Owner in the NFL isn't even considering terminating either. So now we have to count on the 2 of them to re-build a team they still can't find the right QB for in what has been perceived to be a weak QB draft. Look what they've settled on at LT for any/all of the victims trying to play QB here.
But the Dumb Ass writing all of this to you is still here in spite of it all hoping the blind squirrels at the top of this franchise can find a magic nut or 2 or 3...
