Position Groups of Need
-
...well...let's put it this way...we probably don't need a Punter.
QB - We should view the position as having an empty room.
RB - This will be a position in transition. I've certainly seen enough of Pierre NotSoStrong and Fumbling Foreman. Ford will be here and Chubb deserves a shot.
TE - Need someone besides Njoku that can block and catch.
WR - Could use a little help. That Travis Hunter kid could be some help........enough help?
OL - IMO, every position group could use help. LT being at the top of that list.
DL - DT & DE, 1 ea.
LB - Yes, How many? Is JOK going to play anymore? (hoping he's doing ok...football or no football)
S - Yes, very weak position.
CB - Yes. We have Ward, and then some high picks that aren't playing to high levels. That Travis Hunter kid could help here.
K - Yes. Apparently the Chargers knew what they were doing when they replaced him.
-------------
QB is the highest priority whenever you don't have one. It's just that simple. Having said that, if you don't value either of the top 2 QB's in the draft.....that Travis Hunter kid possibly checks two boxes for ya.
Crazy how well the 2 Harvard grads Berry and DePodesta have drafted for the Browns

Yeah huh?! Apparently, NFL caliber talent evaluation isn't part of any curriculum there.

Dutch's Hot Take O' The Day:
John Dorsey's two drafts here in Cleveland were overall pretty mediocre, especially if you consider how well he was set up in 2018.

The Steelers are not bringing back DangerRuss.
I've had this thought for a few weeks. But this is something the Browns should pursue. It's the intersectionality of low cost, contract length and personnel - scheme fit that would do well.

I wouldn't have a problem with that, not that my opinion carries any weight.
But I agree. As Russ has aged, his game has had to change. He very well could be suited to being a pretty solid trigger man in a Stefanski O. Stefanskis O is pretty QB friendly. The big key is Stefanski needs to have a fairly experienced QB who understands his limitations and buys in to the plan.
In terms of us slugs on the board, we reach a point in age where if we are prowling the town bars we have to realize we aren't going to go home with a hot 24 year old. If we learn to stay inside the parameters of our ability, there are a lot of hot 44 year olds out there.

Or I can just open a fine Cabernet at home and play with the fine 77 y.o. I married 55 years ago this Valentine's Day. And did you know Valentine got in trouble for marrying Roman soldiers to their wives? Back in the day the Romans believed that marriage could take the fight out of them so it was forbidden by the early Christian church. Hence he is tied to the yearly Day of Love.

I was going to mention that at one point. But what he did was trade picks for players, which did help the team somewhat. The draft is a crap shoot. Of course, neither approach has worked for us.

It's sad. Watson is toast, he never cared about football, not really. The Browns need to cut him, no one will trade for him, Ii'm guessing, and if they do cut him - will anyone be surprised if not one team picks him up?
The Browns have a pitiful criteria for picking qbs, other players.
I mean, look at who the Browns have drafted since 2007.

Quarterbacks drafted by the Cleveland Browns since 2000
****************************************************
and NOTE: the Browns should have drafted my pick - JOSH ALLEN, this years MVP, but the drafted Baker Mayfield, then scapegoated him after he led them to the playoffs, and whatever the stupid hell that went on with him playing with a sling on him one arm.......
this qb draft just doesn't inspire me. Drew Allar was my pick, and he's staying in school.
I think picking up Russell Wilson would work pretty good if he is available, but this draft may very well have him staying with the steelers.
Seems kinda hopeless.
btw, Josh Allen was league's MVP.
and.....

Maybe so; but I bet he's a big reason Hallmark fired Cupid.

Your prayers have been answered. Watson the Great is a highly effective completing passes to the Turf Monster and players wearing jerseys colored differently from his
We'll try to remember or forget this in 2026 when he's the highest paid 3rd string QB in NFL history.

I think there won't be a sadder person than Marvin when Watson is no longer on the Browns.
He's literally the focus of every lame post he puts on here.
Everybody needs click bait.??

Yeah, it's time to move on from beating the dead horse. Let's do something a little more fun with the draft coming up like we did last year in here even WITHOUT a 1st round to look forward to.
This question is for you and anyone else that wants to answer it. With ALL of these needs, what is your guess that the Browns will do at #2 overall? Don't confuse this with what you want them to do. I'll start.
I think the Tommy Rees promotion isn't for Milroe like the Browns want people to think it is. Deion Sanders has become a huge buddy and fan of Nick Saban who has given Rees glowing endorsements for football IQ and coaching ability. I'm starting to think the Browns see Rees as the OC as their ideal way to go after Shedeur Sanders with Saban buffering down any protest from Deion. In the end, if you need a QB and you're picking 2nd - this is the guy I think they'll pick. If he's gone - I think they'll trade back and add a pick or 2.

I believe you're thinking of Winston. Got your W's mixed up.

The Browns need to upgrade the O line , especially at tackle.

Truth. Including the position coach.

The Rams have given Matthew Stafford and his agent permission to shop around regarding his value. One website toyed with the idea of him coming to us...but with the 40 some-odd million left in his contract for next season the author, at the end of the article, admitted that it would be a bit of a pipe-dream that he would wind up with us.
Was just talking with my daughter's friend (a Patriots fan like most everyone around where I am) and he wants the two QB's to go by the 3rd pick so the Pat's can pick a great defensive player. The Patriots are like we were before we got Myles. Cannot rush the passer no matter how many guys they blitz. Like Ballpeen used to say, Us blitzing is like running 1 or 2 of our players off the field.

LOL....it was maddening. We would blitz 2 players who would both attack the same gap, essentially blocking each other.
Speaking of New England who needs a pass rusher, I know of a team with a pretty good pass rusher asking to be traded. New England could offer up a nice package of picks.
Myles for #4 this year plus whatever else we could get this year or next. Being that the Pats pick is #4 it holds a lot of value. I don't know if we could get another #1 pick. I'll leave all of that to Berry and the Pats.

Can you imagine Myles getting his wish of being traded only to have to go the Patriots, who are really no closer to Super Bowl contention than the Browns?
I think the asking price should START at two first rounders, but if New England was willing to give up the #4 overall pick this season, the Browns probably couldn't squeeze another first rounder out of them. That would be pretty wild if the Patriots were willing to give up such a high pick.
The Browns having the #2 and #4 overall picks in the same draft would be bananas as a lover of everything draft-related. I might pass out that Thursday in the lead up from excitement. My nipples would be able to cut glass that day. Probably could dial a rotary phone with them too.
