Let me preface this by saying that I would prefer the diplomatic solution of ending the war in Gaza instead of bombing all of Israel's enemies into submission. Since that clearly will not be happening, I want to talk about the latest geopolitical developments.

The Houthis, an ally of Iran, control a chokepoint for one of the world's most important shipping lanes, the Bab el Mendeb. 30% of all shipping containers passed through the Suez Canal prior to the war in Gaza/Israel. These ships now all have to travel around the Cape of Africa. This has caused tremendous inflationary pressure, increases of over 300% in the cost of shipping from China to Europe.

    Bab al-Mandab straitimage.thumb.png.112b6da92e12a093180d990e87b41fc4.png

Trump's goal is to bomb the Houthis and intimidate Iran into submission. The Europeans can wring their hands all they like about Trump, but they're on board with this because inflation is hurting them the most. Many of the bombing operations are being run out of our European bases.

The Houthis control the Western 1/3 of Yemen. Their territory is mountainous and a little bigger than the State of Ohio. Biden admin conducted some military operations that didn't really do much to degrade Houthi control of the Strait. More significant attacks were conducted by Israel in July, causing massive damage to their oilfields and ports. In spite of this, shipping traffic is still only about 30-40% of what it was prior to the Yemenis shutting it down. It was still trending down prior to Trump ordering these attacks.

If the Houthi military threat is stopped, then the reopening of that lane ought to reduce inflation. This would be a positive for just about every country in the world except Iran. Trump is going to be putting a lot of carrier groups and American lives at risk. This could also blow up in Trump's face if the Houthis get a lucky shot on our carrier with a drone. Iran is on high alert as I write this, expecting their nuclear sites to be attacked. They may see this as an existential threat and put more effort into their nuclear program. If they develop a nuclear weapon, then the entire calculus of this region changes.

I have doubts that we will be able to pacify the Houthi threat to the strait without boots on the ground. I am guessing it would require massive, sustained bombing campaigns based out of Europe and multiple carrier task forces. The cost of which would be high but a drop in the bucket compared to gains from the strait reopening.

Yemen has had a vicious war history for many decades, the houthis are a terrorist religious based army that gets it's weapons from iran, of course.

and the houthis get their advice, etc etc, from Hezbollah. May as well call the houthis "hamas of yemen".

Iran has even helped the houthis build a big factory to make drones. This factory has probably been turned into dust and flames by now.

It's iran. with russian blessing - the russains supported the winning side of yemen, (which used to be in two separate countries), and the Saudis supported the other side.

But, infiltrating and lauching terrorist war inside the Saudi supported side, that gov gave up, thousands fled, and the houthis have controlled a large area of Yemen.

So, it's all on iran. They are said to be far closer to a nuclear weapon, then they won't be able to be stopped from making damas/houthis/hezbollah far more dangerous with more and more weaponry.

the biden corrupt sombeitch regime gave iran all the money they needed to wreak war against israel, and the west. Now, the situation will be growing far more dangerous.

I don't see out American boots on the ground - but destroying the houthis ability to do anything with air strikes.

Pres Trump hammered the russians' oil sales, which the european goofs kept buying , while they spent money for Ukrainian arms,

the biden immediate, deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan has given the enemies of Israel and the west a big green light to figure that they can do anything they want, and eventually, they will win and we will bail, even it it takes another dem regime of corrupt cowards.

Iran must be stopped. their nuclear facilities are said to be deep underground. So, apparently, their travel into those bunkers will be closed up with surface bunker busters, etc.

Israel already took out their air defenses, which probably have/will be replaced to some degree, by the russians, since iran has a defense treaty with them.

Russia and Iran Sign a Partnership Treaty to Deepen Their Ties in the ...

Jan 17, 2025Russian and Iranian officials say the "comprehensive strategic partnership treaty" covers all areas -- from trade and military cooperation to science, education and culture. The 20-year ...

the biden sombeitches kicked the can down the road, and let helter skelter

      prevail.

sanctions work, except biden ended them, released big billions to iran, and undermined Israel while saying one thing and doing another, as always.

The Iranian people would love to be rid of this fascist religious gov - stopping the houthis' ability now is a temporary solution. Killing all of hamas is a temporary solution.

The permanent solution is to take out the gov of iran, because they will never quit, and they will have nuclear weapons eventually. or, in a few weeks - which is the shortest alarming estimation out there, I think.

      https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/19/politics/blinken-nuclear-weapon-breakout-time/index.html

      ***************************

can't have iran threatening to use a nuke if we don't leave the mideast/quit supporting israel/if we retaliate to a missile strike at our ships anywhere.......etc etc.

If they have a nuke, they are corrupt and insane enough to threaten it.

It's a dangerous mess. and it needs to be straightened out - taking out the houthis is a start, I'd even help Israel to take out hamas, stop the flow of weapons etc to hezbollah, and put the economic screws to iran in a huge way.

except russia and china will bypass and compensate for the sanctions on iran.

oh, and we surely have iranian cells in our country.

Eventually, we have to take them out - they will never stop. sick stuff.

We have been bombing the Houthis since Obama. Trump bombed them. Biden bombed them. Trump is bombing them again. Over a decade, and they still have the capability to shut down the strait.

That's because as usual we have been going at it half assed.  If we go at it for real we can shut it down easily.

Yeah, it'll be as easy as Afghanistan.

Well, we kicked ass in Afghanistan.  We completed our mission of getting rid of Osama and had no reason to stay any longer.  We never went for real because we didn't go there to 'take over' Afghanistan to begin with.  Just the usual political bullshit.  Maybe someday you'll be able to comprehend.

In the couple of months since I last posted here, the Navy and Air Force bombed the Houthis, but we lost 3 F/A-18s and a bunch of Reaper drones. More importantly, one of the F-18s was lost when the Houthis forced the carrier to take evasive action to avoid a missile strike.

Things cooled down and we backed off our military assets because it'd be a massive embarrassment if the Houthis were able to cripple one of our carriers. The Houthis have had time to tend their wounds and are escalating again. Striking against shipping traffic bound for Saudi Arabia. The bulk carrier, Eternity C, was hit by a coordinated attack and is currently listing 15 degrees with a dead engine. It's likely to sink.

diplomatic solutions are nice, but not going to happen with terrorists who make their living, in a death cult. Like hamas. and hezbollah. and the houthis. Iran is supplying all the money and missiles to all three.

However, iran is now defenseless. hamas/death cult palestinians, and the houthis have or will soon run out of supplies for war. All the diplomatic solutions in the world won't bring the murdered/raped/burned alive/beheaded/kidnapped/starved innocent women and children, and men on Oct. 7th.

They dream of vicious murdering. The houthis sent missiles at civilian targets on the sea and into Israel. Like hamas, every one of them should be killed. There is no "diplomatic solution". There wasn't one when mohammed's army beheaded all the Jewish men, and kidnapped the women and children and make them slaves. And, there isn't one now with the houtis. Because, there isn't one possible with Iran.

Now, Lebanon is working to disarm hezbollah, move them completely out of the southern area. Which, is only possible because Israel and America valiantly blew their air defenses, missile/drone production sites, and nuke development sites into dust.

Stopping iran's funding and supplying will work wonders to stop the houthis. Terrorists laugh their asses off at anyone wanting to talk. They are terrorists. It's a death cult.
