Sanders Falling, Dart Rising?

  • If this is true then the pick for us should be Travis Hunter because the Titans have cancelled private workout for Sanders and have locked in on Ward as #1 overall. Carter is far too big a risk with so many other edge players available in a strong edge class. We can always take the Aggie at #33 since tia is so sure he will be there. ?BTW he dropped a lot of weight from where he played edge container to a size & speed where he better fits edge rusher. But I know he goes well before #33. Combine opened a lot of eyes.

I hope he is taken before the #33 pick.

  • Watched another McShay video about Sanders this morning, he made a very good point that speaks to Sanders stock falling...

Last fall, we heard things about of the Sanders camp, from Deion himself about how "we will control where he goes"... Now, Prime is all: "Well we'd be honored by anyone taking my son..."

He knows his son doesn't have the juice a true honest-to-god phenom QB has entering the draft.

    Leverage lost.  Noticed that too.

Regardless of line play I don’t like a QB that has taken the extreme amount of sacks that he has.  Casual and even not so casual fans of the game automatically point to - his line didn’t protect him.

He’s getting five seconds tops to find a guy at the next level or get rid of the ball. Hes not running away from anyone - that’s Jalen Milroe

And back to line/QB maybe a third or half of those sacks could be attributed to him not reading coverages properly?  Or knowing where second, third or fourth options are in the play.  Or running around playing maverick ball.

We saw this to a small extent Years ago when we had Thomas and Mack and other solid guys upfront.

A&M coaches had him in a different role at a higher weight, so that produced lack of sacks. Whoever gets him will see something different if they want an edge rusher to pressure the QB.

His weight while he did take snaps on the edge has little to nothing to do with his complete lack of positional fundamentals.

Back to the ole drawing board:  "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I THINK I'M KEN?"

Fixed it for you since I haven't seen an excuse like that since the Welcome Back Kotter show in the mid 70s...

Very interesting post!   Remember hearing back when Brady Quinn was coming out about him being the most pro ready QB of his draft class mostly because everyone assumed that due to Charlie Weiss was previously an NFL Coach teaching him the offense he Coordinated in NE?  Despite that, Quinn developed a bad-horrible habit of locking onto 1 target (the 6'4" Jeff Samardzija) primarily because it accounted for 27 of his TD passes the last 2 years he played at ND.

Similarly, the reality that nobody could cover Travis Hunter in college might have caused a similar bad habit with Shedeur any time he had to look for a receiver beside Hunter. Just a guess on my part.

I'm kicking myself for not watching Colorado in the Big 12 this past year.  I did the year before when he struggled against the better competition in the Pac 12 with some of his OL from Jackson State and whatever Olinemen at Colorado that didn't quit/leave when Deion's staff arrived.

Well, if we draft Travis Hunter - that's going to be way better than anyone Pickett had to throw to in Pittsburgh. Is it possible he can look way more like a 1st round QB in Cleveland than he did in Pittsburgh?  Now that would be FUN man!

    great point with Brady.

I watched ND St, Nebraska and the Hail Mary game- he looked very good.  He has good accuracy…I remember when we drafted Quinn, ESPN had clip for clip bad ball placement from Quinn like throwing back shoulder on slants.  I don’t know if Shedeur is there…  But he has one similar quality that Quinn had….Shedeur holds the ball too long doesn’t appear to pay with anticipation

I get a Charlie Frye comp. with Shedeur.   He’s slippery like Charlie and not fast either.

The more and more I read into draft if Milroe slips badly like to our 3rd round pick I might give him a shot and then fire Stefanski and run a Lamar type offense.  Lol.

I was not at all impressed with the DL coaching last year and apparently neither was the HC who has now become more hands on with it for the coming year according to the latest article on defensive plans for 2025.

I know what you're saying, but when you had a Myles Garrett on the edge at College Station - there were no excuses necessary.  He still would have been great if Barney Fife was his Defensive Coordinator or Position Coach.

If Pitt didn't like a guy (Justin Fields) that had a season in college where he threw 41 TD passes to just 3 INTs (the year before he led them to a National Championship Game)  - Milroe is coming off a season we he threw 16 TD passes with 11 INTs.  Fields was 4-2 as the starter in Pitt.  He's only being judged for what he did in Chicago - where that franchise serial kills young QB careers.  This is like Steve Young going to the Tampa Bucs back when that was a nightmare for QBs drafted to that franchise. NOBODY wanted Steve Young after this except Bill Walsh (who already had Joe Montana) and a HOF career was written that nobody who witnessed him in Tampa could have imagined.  Something very similar happened with Doug Williams going to the Redskins and beating Denver in the Super Bowl.  Not saying that's quite the case with Fields; but look at what we're choosing from today with the 2nd overall pick.  Do we look like a happy bunch with the QBs we have to choose from at #2?

We're obviously not quitters though.  When it all seems too tough - there's always Tyler's Shough.

McShay also said Sanders is the best pure passer in the draft in the video you shared.  Comparing him to Dart or any other QB is a common thing to do in a draft class.  Teams are gonna reach on QBs over BPA - it's done every year so my guess is McShay wants to acknowledge Dart (because he's hearing rumors of teams being interested).  Now he can stash this stuff in his back pocket until Kiper starts gettin all full of himself at the draft.
