Day 1 Thursday 2025 NFL Draft

The Browns Board
118 22 2.7k 1
  • A team moving to #2 would be a bad team moving a few spots or some spots up to get a QB - I don’t see it.  Or a good team looking for the one missing piece (maybe Hunter).

Im sure we would like to forget the last time we did this in 2011.  We traded out of 6  and gave Atlanta Julio Jones.

The move out of #6 wasn't the issue.  The issue was taking Phil Taylor over Cam Hayward, then Greg Little over Demarco Murray or Randall Cobb.  Then proceedjng to fuck up the entire 2012 draft sans Mitchell Schwartz.

Trading down is fine, what you do with the picks after is crucial.

    Yup!

  • I'll be watching live (1am here) and hoping we trade back (but not too far) and then up again towards the end of the round to get back in.

I do think there will be teams willing to move up to #2 for a Hunter or Carter, maybe even Jeanty.

This team needs two first round talents now or at least throw the dice on them.

  • Would be absolutely shocked if the Browns don't land Hunter. Great player and is an impact maker day one. No reason to overthink this, he's the best prospect in the draft class.

A few trades I could see happening though:

    1) Bears move to 5 to get Jeanty. To be honest, if Caleb Williams strings it together year two they have a very solid roster overall. Adding a dynamic playmaker like Jeanty who can be a 1st year difference maker has to be super enticing. Especially given Ben Johnson's success in Detroit, Jeanty and Swift could easily turn into a 2.0 of that scheme.

    2) someone from picks 24-32 trading back to a team to get Sanders. I just don't see it before this time, but if (and I believe when) Sanders is still on the board past the Steelers, the risk is worth the reward. Could that be the Browns? Absolutely, but the talks of Sanders falling out of the first seem a bit over the top. The best comp I've seen (but can't find writing this) overall is a slighter better Andy Dalton, which I'd take in a GD second.

My comparison is Tyrod Taylor.  But I don't know Sanders' ceiling.  ( but that's the draft.  You don't know  the player's ceiling...unless it's somebody like Tim Tebow. )

Supposedly this is a good and somewhat deep draft for positions other than QB. (of course, not ALL other positions)

I'm assuming that you want '26 picks to package them for a '26 QB...

With NIL money, players in college have less incentive to move to the pro's.  Several of the QB's who we think will make the 26 class a strong QB class may not come out until 27.

As a team we have been playing for future potential for a long time and at best have had marginal results.  My thinking is Berry and crew need to spend less time planning for future drafts and pay attention to this years draft. Every draft produces good players. With a 1st, 2nd, and two 3rds we should walk away from those four picks with a couple of stud players and at least one decent player.

Every 6th round produces several good players. With 4 picks in that round we have nearly a 40% chance of finding 1 even if by sheer luck.

Time to just start playing with the cards in our hand.

I agree with this 100%, personally.

My thinking may be heading in a different direction.

I'm not even going to play Devil's Advocate, I will say that the people who disagree (some may be reading) will say that with a #2 pick, for the Browns in this specific draft, it's a waste if it's not Cam Ward, Shaduer Sanders, Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter.

    I don’t feel that way.

If they're not set on Ward or Sanders, if they don't like the two-way drama Hunter is starting to create, if they're concerned about Carter's shoulder, don't want to deal with Rosenhaus or can't trade the pick, they should pick who they feel will make the best impact.

I don’t care if that's Mason Graham, Tyler Warren or one of the LTs.

Just go get your guy and put him in the best situation possible to be a player that makes a difference.

The Browns have failed with future potential for 26 years - two owners, 10 GMs, 12 head coaches.

I’ve been thinking Teddy Twatwater… a guy who seemed well thought of during his playing time at Louisville, slid some on draft night and had a ok NFL career.

I agree.  there is a balance between quality and quantity.

I agree 100% with this IF and only IF they've thoroughly researched the prospects in this draft. I'm not even sold they've looked at, let alone studied, film anywhere near as much as the teams that are consistently far more efficient in the draft and/or on the field.

Hard to believe I was 21 years old in 1985 when Bernie Kosar was a rookie about the same age.  Immediately thereafter, I didn't mind hearing "next year" on draft day.  This FO has tenure using that kind of lack of urgency; and here we are at 3-14 in a world where you are what your record says you are.

If we're going to continue with "next year" just hire Cheech & Chong as our new front for crying out loud.

  • Hopefully they just draft Travis Hunter and figure out the 2-way thing. Either he's superhuman and can do it, or Travis will realize that chasing around Ja'Marr Chase and DK Metcalf for 4 quarters is a full-time job by itself. Where is he best used? That's for the coaches to figure out if we take him. He'll be a major upgrade whether it's WR or CB.

  • I think if he wasn't a potential two way player and instead just one or the other then nobody would want the Browns to draft a WR or CB at #2.

  • That's part of the appeal with Travis. He can play both ways, but I just don't know if it will be full-time both ways. The Browns seem to like him at WR, then come in on big third down pass plays at CB? No one knows. He's the guy to draft if we stay at #2.

  • Prediction: The Browns draft Hunter at #2 and then then trade up for Sanders.

They keep the Colorado duo together on the Browns.

  • The Cleveland Browns reportedly are willing to ship away a pair of defensive standouts in hopes of adding draft capital.

Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz reported that Browns cornerback Greg Newsome and defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo are "believed to be available via trade" entering Thursday night's NFL draft. Both players are entering the final years of their contracts.

This article will be updated soon to provide more information and analysis.

For more from Bleacher Report on this topic and from around the sports world, check out our B/R app, homepage and social feeds—including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.

  • All signs point to trading up from #33 into the back end of the first round for a QB. We already have ten picks, so I don't know why we want more picks unless we're moving up. We might trade up in other rounds as well if we do any trades for Newsome & Okoronkwo.

And calling Okoronkwo a "standout" is a bit of a stretch lol, but hey if it helps jack up his trade value than lets keep that narrative.

What could we realistically get here? Newsome - 3rd rounder, maybe 2nd? Okoronkwo is a 5th/6th rounder.

  • TRADE ALERT TRADES ALERT

Browns move back to #5 and the jags get Hunter Then Browns trade back again to #10 and the Bears draft Jeantry. We load up on picks for next years draft

  • and after a much needed deliberation with myself, The Browns at #10 in  the NFL 2025 draft select.

  • o.k not my made up crap

The Cleveland Browns acquired another fifth-round pick in a deal with the Houston Texans hours before Round 1 of the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday.

The Browns received a 2025 fifth-round pick (No. 166) as well as a 2027 fifth-rounder, according to the team.

In exchange, the Texans received two sixth-round picks (No. 179, No. 216) and one seventh-rounder (No. 255) in this weekend's draft.

  • I knew that we wouldn't be picking 5 guys in the last 2 rounds.

...he likes trading with Houston doesn't he...
