What to do at 33?

Not sure how the browns are going to score any points this year ?

We still got two more picks tonight ?

For those who talk about how the Browns need "real football players with a chip on their shoulder" they have to be very happy right meow.
I'm not sure about the kid from UCLA, but Graham and Judkins do not give any fucks on the field.
Seventh Buckeye just chosen, already with JT Tuimoloau going to Indianapolis.

Big run on defensive linemen

He seems light. Bio-Engineering. He's a bright kid. I'll root for him....but he seems kinda' light to deal with NFL blockers.

What is the story with Mike Green? Is he too big a reach?
Not at all Al - Mike Green the type of player that will fall to the Ravens. In just 13 games he had 17 sacks and 22.5 tackles for a loss last year (1 of those sacks was against Ohio State). Did you see Ozzie was still in their draft room last night looking all professional in his blue and white checkered shirt 4-5 years after the alleged retirement. You can tell he's still helping his replacement big-time.

@flugel Nice call bro. You should have a seat in the front office.
-
He was listed at 225lbs during the season, but was at 242 at the Combine, which is plenty big enough.
NFL.com: He’s undersized and takes the worst of it when blockers get on top of him, but he’s a good athlete in coverage.
PFF Big Board Rank: 53 Schwesinger is light for an NFL linebacker, but his elite processing speed and intelligence give him starter and impact ability as a Mike or Will linebacker for a 4-3 defense.
...I'm rooting for him. I like smart players.

? Thanks Al! Don't give me to much credit though - I only predicted a frequent dejavue. Here's what fell to them - the #1 rated Safety to team-up with Pro Bowl Safety Kyle Hamilton; and then the guy that had the most sacks in College Football with 17 sacks in 13 games to go with 22.5 Tackles for Loss.

Part I of plan - Mason Graham and the DT we drafted in round 2 last year are here to keep bodies off the backers. When we really think about it - THIS is the part of the plan they were missing in 2022 when they completely lacked the understanding that in order for lighter LBers to work against the run - DT/IDL should be emphasized/prioritized instead of being de-emphasized. I'm glad they understand THIS part of building a team after forfeiting against the run in 2022. Their passive aggressive response to that outcome made 11 wins possible in 2023.
NOW, if we can only get them to understand playing football without healthy reliable offensive tackles is like playing the game in the dark. Has anyone paid attention to the lengths Washington has gone to upgrade their Offensive Tackle position adding Pro Bowl veteran Laremy Tunsil and 1st round pick Josh Conerly Jr. More specifically, they chose the position Cornelius Lucas played as their biggest need to upgrade... Our current OT position is counting on a lot of frequently injured - depreciated value that has proven to be unreliable at answering the bell on game day (their biggest consistency is landing on IR). The Lucas idea is a decent emergency back-up plan (even he's had his share of injuries in recent years).
My sick feeling is this FO has no clue how to build a football team. In a sport defined by fundamentals such as blocking and tackling - what impressive blocker has Berry drafted since he returned in 2020? It's 2025 and I can't name one yet. The FO guy (Howie Roseman) he last worked under and should have learned from in Philly drafted EVERY single starter on the OL in Philly. Every one and 4 of the 5 came in rounds 1 thru 3. The lone exception (LT Jordan Mailata) didn't play college football and they drafted their 6'8" 365 pound guy in the 7th round in 2018. He was a bad-ass rugby player that was only going to be found by an ambitious/hungry NFL personnel guy. They've been to 3 Super Bowls and won 2 of them against Brady and Mahomes since 2018. What a coincidence! Your offensive line is your foundation. My high school football coach said "If you fail to prepare - you should prepare to fail."
You'd think 1 of the 2 Harvard educations in our FO would understand Offensive Tackle is pretty FREAKING important in this league. They're a million miles away from getting it; but let's pretend a 34 year old journey man is the answer to all our prayers at LT ?... I'm just stunned at what they think they're building. Who thinks Arch Manning will be thinking he wants himself some Cleveland Browns in 2026 that don't believe in pass pro on the edges? Let's see - make about 6 million $ to stay an extra year at Texas or come get killed in Cleveland? And the plan is to tank again for that inevitable outcome? I'm now in my 60s watching history repeat itself into oblivion with this FO enjoying their tenure.
Without any foundation being built - it undoes all my excitement for guys like Mason Graham, Harold Fannin Jr, Quinshon Judkins, etc. Heaven help the poor bastard sentenced to playing QB here this year... Not to worry, they'll draft someone late they know nothing about pretending they got a steal no other team was capable of finding.
Sorry for the extended rant...

Absolutely ! Interesting -
Schwesinger is bigger than......
Patrick Queen, who the ratbirds selected in the first round back then.
The rats lucked out and Mike Green fell into their lap... They are the luckiest mother fuckers in Football since leaving Cleveland... You have no idea how much it pains me to say that... "Fuck you , Art"

I get the impression the Browns like having at least one main cerebral LB on the team to be the “green dot” guy, QB of the defense, make sure everyone’s where they need to be, etc.
Anthony Walker was the guy for a few years. Joe Schobert held the role before him. I think JOK was meant to be the next guy up but who knows about his health? My guess is the team sees Schwesinger as a guy in that mold.

Rumor here was that the Browns tried to get back into the back of round 1 to get LT Josh Simmons from Ohio State.
He was taken #32 by Kansas City... he might have been this close to being ours.

Appreciate you sharing this Dutch. I posted a couple times this last month or so the Chiefs were going to take a LT with their 1st round pick. The more it all resonated - the Browns added a lot of players I hoped they'd like for us. I shoulda done a Flugel's Favorite Less Talked about Defensive Players list too. That would have acquainted me more with mid-late round prospects or even someone like Carson Schwesinger - (a walk-on) that came out of nowhere in 2024 in his 3rd year starting for the 1st time to have an exceptional year. Here's how Google described what he accomplished in 2024: Led the Big Ten in total tackles (136), total tackles per game (11.3), double-digit tackle performances (nine), solo tackles (90) and solo tackles per game (7.5) ... ranked third in the FBS and first among defenders from "Power 4" programs during the regular season in total tackles (136)
All that said, after drafting the best DT (that will tie up 2 blockers most of the time) and the Schwesinger - the Browns focused their attention on their need to score more points. Today, they can find undrafted OL, CB, Safety, WR, Edge Rush, PK, Long Snapper, etc...
