Don't Overlook Flugel's Favorite Less Talked About Fellers/UnderDawgs on Offense

I do like Rourke. It was fun watching IU last year. The Bloomington boys had a helluva season.
I really liked one of his wideouts Elijah Serratt too, who l think could be nabbed as a udfa.

I hear ya IBB! I remember you bringing up/talking about Rourke. It was nice to see that program come out of nowhere; and Rourke was a pretty big reason for their success. I was surprised to learn he was from Canada the 1st time I looked into his story. He's from Oakville, Ontario (Canada) and went to Holy Trinity High School. His brother Nathan also plays QB in the CFL for the British Columbia Lions. Anyway, here's what Rourke did before he transferred to Indiana.
I agree with you about Serratt. Here's a print screen of his stats below. The TDs and yards per catch average reflect a guy that makes big plays as did the tv cameras for us.

I’m tapping my foot @tiamat63 because l thought l’d have a draft analysis on Rourke by now. Got a link to it?
Sarratt stood his ground as a wideout, l think he can make it in the NFL.

Sorry buddy. I took a new job in February and these first 90 have been nuts getting caught up. I haven't had time to compose any reviews and I've still yet to finish my article on Jaxon Dart. (Spoiler alert, not a fan)
I'm also evolving my analysis methods. Unless the all-22 is available, I can't and won't do a deep dive on a QB. Just going back to do self scouting and to review my process(es) I found some 22 on Josh Rosen. I wouldn't have been anywhere near as high on him 7 years ago had I seen then what I found now.
That said, I'm not opposed to pulling up a game or three and giving quick impressions.

I wouldn’t bust your chops if l didn’t appreciate your work. I’ll take whatever you got on Rourke. I understand bigger fish to fry.

All good man, I know you wouldn't. I always appreciate the interest and the support.
I'm waiting on a contractor to show up and a deployment to get done, I've got a half dozen videos of his sitting on my desktop. I'll get an hour or two in before tonight then get back at you with some thoughts.
Don't forget the Day 2 discord session tomorrow night.

Sorry I never got back to you bubs. I don't like shortchanging anybody by just watching a singular clip or highlight and giving impressions. It's a disservice to fans and I have too much respect for you guys to do that. Anywho...
Physically Rourke reminds me a bit of Sam Bradford. His throwing motion has a bit more elongation and height, it isn't from the ear like Sams was, but isn't *that* far off either.
I see flashes of anticipation. I see a decent understanding of how to eye up and attack DB leverages pre-snap. He isn't elite, probably not even great at post snap diagnosis of concepts in terms of DB leverage and how to layer throws. At least, not against all the single high in the two games I've watched. But the fundamental part is there.
I see him move from his first to second on straight drops with some consistency and taking care of the football. So that's encouraging in the modern era of college football.
His ball placement to let his physical receivers beat DBs in contested catches needs work as well. You see the basics, but the advanced stuff is only here and there.
His footwork needs polish. But I see the physical and mental foundation. I see a QB who would have produced better numbers at a school with a more, should I say "controlled" offense. Think like... Kiffin at Ole Miss. I've little doubt he would have produced at a similar rate Jaxon Dart did, and that MF just went first round. (Still makes little sense to me)
Prior to the draft I saw a late day 3 prospect. Likely would have put him 6th round depending on how the QBs fell day 1. Right now he's damn near a flyer and camp arm who might stick around until who knows? Perhaps a Case Keenum type career is the closest trajectory I can envision right now.

Well he’s a 49er now, went in the 7th round. Wouldn’t it be wild if they kept striking gold on 7th round QBs?
This is fantastic, l really appreciate this. Great write up.
The Bradford comp is encouraging. I remember Bradford as a really good QB, but he had brittle bones. Interestingly Rourke played injured last year with a torn ACL in his knee.
I do recall some dodgy contested throws last year where his receivers bailed him out. Kinda why l’d like to see the Browns take a flyer on a guy like Sarratt as a udfa.
This was a great read, you’re really good at this. I’ll not bother you again until l get a wild hair up my ass about some other player.

Thanks buddy, the kind words are always appreciated. No bother at all, I enjoy doing the evals.
Once I'm done with Dart, I'll be moving onto the Browns rookie class from last to first.
