5 QB’s In The Room

The more I read and watch about Schwesinger, the more I like the kid.
But his playing style and as high as he was taken tells me JOK's career might be over.

So Zach said that Sanders looked better than Gabriel. And that they'll be bringing in a lot of WR's to the 90 because they're going to run extra 7 on 7's during/at the end of practices to get all of the QB's plenty of reps. It's good to hear that they've put their thinking caps on as far as how to handle the 4 QB evaluation process.

Zac Jackson on that show is really good stuff, him and Jason Lloyd are must-see guys, specifically concerning the Browns.

Somewhere after the 7 minute mark they also talk about Schwesinger and Breer said something along the lines of:
"I talked to an executive on another team a few days before the draft, and he said that he wasn't sure if Schwesinger was going to be a first round pick, but that he made so many plays that it was actually difficult to scout other UCLA defensive players."

Even if just a coincidence - UCLA has been a pretty good place for the Browns to draft defensive players. Don Rogers and Eric Turner became fan faves almost instantly.

...this is good to see since it seems to imply that things are not done so well in Pittsburgh!
And even though he was only with the Eagles for a single season, that may have been long enough to wash off any residual stink from his time in Pittsburgh, as Pickett explained this week when asked about how his time in Philadelphia impacted him (quote via a team-provided transcript?
“Yeah, I’m extremely grateful for my time in Philly. I think I was just shown how it’s supposed to be done, really, from the top down. So when you get a chance to see what it’s supposed to look like and how it should look on a day-to-day basis, not just on Sundays. You know, I think it’ll pay dividends for me in the future.”

Pittsburgh is currently waiting on Aaron Rodgers to decide if he wants replace the old man version of Russell Wilson that lost his last 5 consecutive starts for Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, the Browns drafted 2 QBs and brought back Joe Flacco (who is pretty close to being Aaron Rodgers' age). Let's take a look below at how he did for the Colts last year... It looks like he missed Stefanski but he wasn't that too bad (looks like he didn't throw 1 pass vrs Houston he's not getting that loss so they went 3-4). The worst thing I see is the amount of sacks he took. Without seeing any of those games - it's tough to give him a fair assessment. It'll be interesting to see if this offense is a better fit for Pickett than what Pitt came up with for all the QBs they've brought in and raced out of town (Trubisky, Pickett, Wilson, Fields) as incompatible system fits. If so, we'll see a nice battle between the 2 experienced QBs while we hope there's also a great competition between the rookies. I'm not rooting against any of them - so it'll be fun to see who earns their place on the final depth chart heading into the opener. My only question is - did the Browns already decide on their veteran when they opted not to pick up the final year (2026) of Pickett's rookie contract? Definite maybe here...

Probably coincidence. I don't think there is some secret mojo going on between the Browns and UCLA defenders. Actually, very few players have been selected from UCLA minus recent flops named DTR, Felton, and Payton. All offensive players.

Yeah probably. I agree they don't usually have a lot of defensive players in the draft but when they do - it's easy to remember guys like Kenny Easley, Carnell Lake, Eric Turner, Don Rogers, Ken Norton.

We were talking Browns players. If we are shifting the goalposts, I agree that Easley and Lake were good players. Norton, he made a pro bowl or two as I remember, but not one I would consider really good.
Easly is in the HOF I believe, Lake i am not sure but know he was a pro bowl player on 3-4 occasions.

Really? ?Shifting goalposts? No, that's your skill in this one. This is what I wrote (pasted below) pertaining to defense only and it didn't say frequently. Not to worry, it only began with "Even if just a coincidence." You responded with "Actually, very few players have been selected from UCLA minus recent flops named DTR, Felton, and Payton. All offensive players."
There's your goalpost moving by you from the onset. You did that knowing 2 of the guys you mentioned were drafted in the 5th round (DTR and Jordan Payton) and 1 in the 6th (Demetric Felton). Let's not pretend we drafted DTR with expectations of Troy Aikman in return - or- Demetric Felton with expectations of Maurice Jones-Drew in return. They did what a lot of guys drafted in those rounds tend to do - make the team for 2-3 years or so and fade. Doesn't make them flops. Don't worry I'll get us back to the defense so we can stay on topic.
My bringing up other UCLA defensive players was really more to illustrate that over time there really haven't been a lot of huge impact defensive guys from that program around the league overall when I could only think of/name 5 guys (but 2 of them were Browns in this league that has 31 other teams). Hopefully Schwesinger becomes the next since he was the reason I somehow got here with you. Yes, Carnell Lake was a 208 lb LBer at UCLA that the Steelers found a niche for at Safety. He made 5 Pro Bowls while being named 1st Team All Pro twice and 2nd Team All Pro 3 times. Ken Norton Jr started at LBer in 2 Super Bowls for the Cowboys and 1 Super Bowl for the 49ers. In matching his volume of 3 SB starts for Conference Champions - he also made 3 Pro Bowls even if you need to think of him as not very good. However you were correct Kenny Easley is in the NFL Hall of Fame.
