Duster

Westside Steve's Movie Reviews

  • This is a new show on Max. I’m 7 episodes in out of 8. It’s a JJ Abrams project, and l have a pretty high opinion of his work. I’m not sure he’s made a bad movie, and l didn’t realize he dabbled in making tv shows.

This show is basically a crime-drama that also serves as an homage to the cool parts of the early 70s. The cars! The music! The cars! The lapels! The cars!

At the forefront is a Plymouth Duster of all cars, driven by main character Jim Ellis. He’s portrayed as a Fabio looking good guy who happens to work for a mob boss in Arizona. He’s a low key badass who burns up rear tires with regularity.

Also featured in the show are a car show’s worth of cars. If you like to geek out on 60s and 70s era muscle cars you will not be disappointed. They even got some AMCs in there, a Matador and an AMX.

The show is really done well. Engaging plot line, great action sequences, and good character development.

    I give it an A.

It’s been a breezy fun watch. The last episode drops Thursday.
