5 QB’s In The Room

The Browns Board

  • Pickett.  I think Stef likes him as a fit for his system.  He can move around.  He can get wide.  He can hurt you with his legs.  And has a strong enough arm.  He was brought in to be the starter.  Flacco was then signed as insurance while knowing full well that they would be drafting someone like Gabriel.  And so that's what the batting order was planned to be.  Pickett, Flacco, someone like Gabriel.  Of course the draft came and Sanders fell onto the team...and it seems to have thrown everything up in the air...when in reality, it hasn't.  He just joins the batting order at the tail end.

At the end of TC however, they may be faced with a situation that they weren't expecting going into the draft.  The idea of  having to cut Flacco or keep 4 QB's.  But you know that that was mentioned while they were working to trade up and draft Sanders.

I expect that the 4 QB's will remain in that batting order throughout TC.  But it could happen that one of the rookies shows up such that he cannot be ignored.  Or, that Flacco shows that he's just plain that much better than Pickett.  - a few more weeks -

Off season and off TC are the worst times of the football year. Ain't much to say that hasn't been beaten to death already. 1st open practice July 25. Until then it's summer hibernation time.?

Tell me about it. Last year a few of us thought we'd do preview of the various position groups, which was kind of fun.  That said, it was just during the time of year you summarized.  Aside from that, were we really telling the passionate fans like yourself anything you/they didn't already know about this team?

Every year, since Street & Smith back in the day, I buy the NFL Preview Magazine(s) ie: Lindy's or Athlon Sports.  This year in Lindy's - aside from previewing each team they have sections where they rank players and units in "The NFL's Best" section.  On page 128, I kid you not, the Browns TE is listed at #9.  The funny part of that was they couldn't even get his name right.  They listed him as Daniel Njoku - Cleveland Browns.

Moral of the story: edit before Happy Hour; don't drink and drive; and in some cases - drinking before posting is advisable to strongly encouraged.

Fannin will be better than "Daniel" before the end of the season plays out IMO. He has a way of just getting open and taking away contested throws if he's not wide open.

Aggies, I share your excitement for Fannin!  If the Browns can tap all of the mismatches he will cause - they're gonna have a lot of fun!  The collective football wood factor in here will go from balsa to sequoia.

He would make the most sense I suppose

  • In TC we'll probably see Pickett with the ones.  Gabriel mostly with the twos, but some work with the ones.   And Sanders will be working with the bottom of the roster.  Exactly how much of what Flacco will get I'm not sure enough to guess at...but he'll get some time with the ones.

In preseason games I expect Gabriel to get the lion's share of the work.  Followed by Sanders.  Pickett will also get some time in preseason IMO because he's brand new to the team.  But that'll kind of depend on whether or not he's still viewed as the starting QB at that point.

  • I guess the steelers look forward to playing against watson again. They always won. Who knows. I don't know how much arm Flacco has left, don't know how good Pickett can be, I just don't know. lol.

If I had to guess, I'd say PIckett starts the season and surprises.

    Delusion is often tantalizing.

And Mary Kay is a fucking hack.

  • “The Browns were not overjoyed that [Deshaun Watson] wasn’t around during the tough times of the 3-14 season. … That’s all changed now. He has been here every day since he had the second surgery (on his Achilles). He has been present in the building, and the coaches have raved about what he’s done inside the building in terms of helping other guys. He’s not as much of a villain amongst his teammates as he is amongst the fan base,” Cabot said, via 92.3 The Fan.

    -----------

Too little too late.  He got hurt then went his own way.  They drafted 2 QB's and set themselves up to draft one in next year's draft, showing that they went their own way too.  I don't see him being on the 53 this year.

    and, yes she is.

  • maybe four qb's in the room? I'm fine with three.

2 days agoThe Browns and Shedeur Sanders may not have a plan in place for each other. For this reason, the Browns could draft a QB with starting potential to replace Sanders.

umm...we haven't even started TC yet.

They certainly have a backup plan though.  Two first round picks.  But that backup plan isn't just for Sanders.  It's for Gabriel & Pickett too.  We need one of those three to prove to be the future QB of the team.  If not, then they'll decide who to keep as backup QB(s).  But let's not put the cart before the horse.

Relax,  home boy didn't read his own link.  He just saw the headline and fired away.

Click bait nonsense from a hack of a journalist desperate to put out content.

It's just silly, but interesting to read some of the rumors, that's all. Just strange that there is any talk about this stuff at all. Sanders had a terrific chance, and he embarrassed the Browns with the serious speeding.

Interesting, a former Jets scout, a far better source for appraisals than stuffed shirt boy, ripped Sanders before the draft. The speeding ticket is just one indication that he was right.
