Steelers fans are not happy about this, apparently.

Consider the source though Dutch.  Did Jalen Ramsey suddenly wake up as a bad football player or something?  1 guy is 30 years old - the other turns 29 in November.

Our Corner position feels pretty fragile today.  1 more concussion to Denzel Ward and what are we looking at in the trio we will be relying on?

I welcome the only Defensive Coordinator to earn a Superbowl Ring in New Orleans while understanding Revenge of the Nerds is a sequel. "Come get some!"

True on Ward, but then similar things can be said about any team who loses a starting corner.  That said, Ward never has learned how to tackle. You can pretty much plan on him missing 3 games a season with a concussion. Pretty soon it will be the one to knock him out of football. I think there is a good chance he is already at the point where in 20 years he is going to be like a punch drunk boxer.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Precisely! The 1 game that really got my attention was the Chargers game last year.  Despite very good heat on Herbert up front (even on the 2 TD passes) - those guys just weren't clicking together.  That was like their 3rd year working together so they should have looked better than lost.  The communication between them was awful; and both times the corner getting broiled was Ward.  The toll of those head injuries probably don't just hurt his physical game.  1 second of hesitation can get a Receiver knowing where he's going 10 yards of separation which is what we saw on those uncontested TD passes given up. Here's a cut and past of part of the game summary:

Well at least in retrospect that damaged brain was able to see the light. Too bad it didn't happen in real time.?

The Steelers have always had elite safety play or so it seems perhaps because the carnage their front seven creates.

Right now it seems that Minkah is a better football player than Ramsey.  You probably couldn’t say the same a couple of years ago.

Meanwhile Derrick Henry signs a 2 year extension with the Ravens for $30 mil, $25 mil of which is guaranteed. It's the largest contract in NFL history for a RB over 30 years old.

Miami was a man coverage team around 30% of their defensive snaps.  Past that, they were a heavy cover 3 team.

I'm curious how that works for Pittsburgh?  They have plenty of familiarity within those structures -  but from my memory they traded for Minkah because of their single high, center fielder struggles.

I don't see a comparable single high safety on roster.  Unless the Steelers brass believes Deshon Elliot is going to step into the role and they'll just keep rolling?  If that's the case, they're in for a treat because he's average at best on the back-end.

Edit:  I can't remember Pittsburgh having a "big name" corner in my lifetime.  Closest thing I can think of is Ike Taylor and Ike was alright.  Played having a great defensive front to make his life easier.  But as long as I've been alive, the Steelers have always built front to back.

Now they have an aging Dline and trade rumors about Watt.  Should be fun to watch unfold.

Seemingly a lifetime ago (you probably weren't even learning your A,B,C's yet), Rod Woodson and Mel Blount were Hall of Fame Corners for them.  To your point, those teams were also built front to back. You're right - not much since then.  You put a good pass rush in front of Jalen Ramsey and I'm willing to bet he'll be better than average.

The guy that put an end to JOK's career got a 2 year extension that guarantees him 25 million $ over 2 years.  Not bad at this stage of his career for a position getting inexplicably de-valued.  Those Bastards!  I hate the Rat-turds.

I did not realize it was Henry he ran into. No wonder he was hurt so badly. A 250+lb guy running WR speed is a killer on necks if they don't get stiffarmed to the ground.
