and by the sound of it, it seems #12 still will not get much work with the 1's during the week

If he's going to be playing with the 2's and 3's, why would you give him work with the 1's?

maybe to hone his skills, because none of us have any idea how this is going to work out, Also the only one's on offense that i have heard are not going to play are Jeudy and Tillman, so why not give #12 some reps with them during joint practices ? Dillion and Pickett are not practicing ( I believe) so who gets em Huntly ?

WR depth is pretty thin, we can all agree on that. If you want a longer look at your young QB and the young WRs that might make the roster, you want the most apt tools to evaluate.

When you have a young QB throwing passes to receivers he isn't used to working with, then it can skew the eval. When you have young wrs catching passes from a QB they aren't working with, it can skew the eval (to a lesser extent, but doesn't help)

Getting Shady as many reps with the wrs he's going to be throwing to,  and vice versa for the wrs, those who will play the bulk of the snaps Friday, is the absolute best for everyone involved both players and coaches

Absolutely.  If Sanders is going to play then he should play with the guys he's been working with if at all possible.   It's an opportunity for all the receivers, RB's that he's been practicing with.  I'm sure that many of them would've played with Gabriel in there also.

he tossed a td to jeudy today, so it seems he did get some work with the 1's in the joint practice (which i hear we looked like shit) sanders should get all the reps since he is the one playing along with huntly on friday, Why give flacco the reps when he will be holding a clip board

  • Apparently word around camp is that the offense looks rough.

The exact comparison I heard was:

"It looks like an Eric Mangini offense."

Camp offense hasn't looked great, no sugar coating that.  Then again, I don't think anyone should expect this offense to be that.

Short their best RB, health concerns and age across the entire Oline - finding some reasonable consistency and maybe a pinch of explosion here or there is likely the best you'll see all year.

if you mean Flacco, I believe they will work on timing with most of the reps going to him in the two joint practices and pre season game vs Philly

No matter how you look at it or how the chips fell, Sanders getting the first crack at proving he's potentially the dude is a big opportunity for him. We shall see how it goes.

To be very honest, the only goal I feel like as a fan this year is seeing if Gabriel/Sanders are that dude, and if Kevin and crew are going to be shown the boot after the season. I'm a pretty big Stefanski guy, but if neither of these dudes pan out (especially Gabriel seemingly being high on the list), it would be pretty sound logic to clean house to start fresh with your top 5 QB.

It absolutely is.  And he should be thanking his lucky stars.  There will be plenty of people hoping that he falls flat on his face so they can say, I told you so.  And I'm not really talking about this board.  I doubt many of us would think the end of the world if a 5th round draft pick failed.  It happens all the time.  But some in the media were outspoken about him not being any good.  They don't look good in egg.

The odds are pretty well stacked against him.  He'll be playing with mostly 2's and lower on the depth chart.  Which is a double edged sword.  The talent might not be great, but at least he's been working with them so there's familiarity.  He'll be playing a series or two against the Panthers' #1 defense.  His offensive line that struggled last year has new coaching...so, how far along is that group at this point?

Still though, it's a team sport...and as long as he does the best he can do with the plays and how they unfold, he'll be ok in the evaluation room.  But if he seems lost or slow to progress through the play, it'll show up on the tape.  And frankly, that's kinda' what might be expected for a 5th round pick.  But the media will not evaluate him as a 5th round pick.

But you lost me here.   Bringing in a completely new QB room with a brand new coaching staff, which means new systems, language, structure, play call rhythm, coaches, personnel, etc etc.

Would be much more wise to have a rookie placed on a team with a sound and consistent coaching structure, surrounded by players that know the offense vs a rookie QB and the rest of the offense also working to master the new material.

I agree.  But does Haslam agree?  It's beginning to seem like he's outgrown his Trigger Finger.

I mean, we know what he said to the fans from the winter meetings, Settling the QB issue might take a couple of years.  After calling Watson a Swing and a Miss.  Coupled with the fact that they actually DID trade their #2 pick for a 1st rounder next year to SET UP the 2 year QB plan, leads one to believe that they knew back then that they wanted to make that type of trade.  And that this season was going to be a difficult season.

  • A dead horse only dies once unless we're talking about the Cleveland Browns QB situation after Bernie Kosar was gone...

  • pre snap penalties ? are the players in their right place ? a lot going on tonight
