Deshone Kizer 1st Preseason Game 2017 vs. Saints 8/10/2017

One of Kizer's passes was a bomb that I think the receiver wound up ruled down around the 1 foot line and might as well have been a touchdown, in which case his rating for his first game would have been in the 130s. 

 

Despite this "auspicious start" Kizer wasn't even on the team to start the next season, was done as an NFL starter after his one year with the Browns, and out of the League within four years.

 

Also, the Browns went 4-0 in the preseason that year and we all know how many wins that translated into.

I remember they traded Kizer and a draft pick to Green Bay in the offseason for 2 picks the next year. Those picks got parlayed in to WR Antonio Callaway and LB Genard Avery. 

Calloway pretty much sucked and burned out in 3 years, but Avery showed promise his rookie season. 

And then they traded Avery the next season for a draft pick that would later be Tommy Togiai, who also pretty much sucked. 

He’s still in the league though he got work with for Houston last year. Avery logged a game last year too.

Calloway also had well known character issues during his college career.  I can't remember if he got in any trouble at the next level or not.  Then again, didn't our current owner have character issues prior to Cleveland?   Hopefully they all just went away...?

I never recalled Deshone Kizer facing down the rush as Shedeur did in his first preseason game. I also don't recall any tight window throws so this information is irrelevant to what's going on now. Plus everyone was surprised he was named the starter as his preseason wasn't that outstanding. It was a FU to management who brought in Osweiler rather than a football decision.

I’m glad Sanders looked Good Friday night, I was busy getting ready to go out of town so I only watched his first two or three series… but DTR looked good in back to back preseasons, and had some of the worst passing stats in the regular season you will ever see. Kizer looks good in preseason. Mitch Trubisky looked like a world beater his rookie preseason.

I vaguely recall Calloway was a bit of a headcase. I’m sure he wanted to be rich though.
