Essentially we turned two 7th round picks into a 6th rounder.  Except we had to feed and pay one of the 7th rounders for a season.  🙂  The other 7th rounder was from Buffalo, so that'll be a pick near the end of the draft.  And we would hope that the 6th rounder will be towards the top of the round.

If we were considering cutting him then it's certainly a good thing.

Maybe now we'll have enough room on the roster to carry 5 QB's.  🙂

You keep saying the Browns are carrying 5 QBs on their roster, but Watson will be on the Injured List.

Now, I'm not sure how they are going to juggle four on the active roster... I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I figure at least one will be inactive any given week.

I do?  This time was a joke.  We have 5 on the roster now with Huntley, but he's history at roster cuts.  And yes, Watson will have an injury designation.

I honestly completely forgot about Huntley...

Easy to do....but in reality he's played at least twice as much as any other QB we have.  🙂

  • I thought this guy showed actual potential to make the roster this season -- tia can say many negative things about pff, but this guy did manage to be rated the 23rd overall DT in the league.  Sure, small sample size, but was far better than the average backup DT thrown out there the last few seasons.

I was under the impression that the objective when creating a roster is to assemble talent that outperforms the contract... this guy was doing that, and just getting PT was already exceeding expectations of a 5th to 7th round pick.  He was already providing decent talent for the cheapest possible contract, why move him?  Unless Berry really thinks that the 4 DI's who will make the roster are definitely better than him..

Not to be a dick, but I felt my stance on PFF was clear - when it comes to trench play their grades aren't all that different from mine.    Because it's far less subjective than skill play.

At the skill spots is where I take issue.

Outperforming a contract is a positive, but at the end of the day they’re keeping probably 4 DTs and hoping to strategically stash another 1 or 2 on the PS. Here’s the current contestants.

    Maliek Collins

    Mason Graham

    Shelby Harris

    Sam Kamara

    Ralph Holley

    Adin Huntington

    Mike Hall Jr.

My guess is those top 4 are it, sans injuries. Browns gave big bucks to Collins. Graham was our first pick. Harris does a really great tummy rub when he sacks a QB, and Tia says Kamara makes the team.

I’m sure they’d like to hang on to Hall, and Holley is a great carburetor.

No doubt we were going to cut the guy.  The D line room has pretty much been settled. Had we hoped to get in on the practice squad was a toss up at best.  At least this way we get some compensation.  Fairly insignificant but better than nothing.

Yes.  And a lot of competition at IDL.  But we do turn a possible last pick of the entire draft into a high(ish) 6th rounder.  That's something that you can use in trade negotiations.  Like if you're looking for a CB...or somethin'....

Huntley is who he is... A backup you add to the roster when #1 and #2 are injured and you start planning for the ensuing draft.. He doesn't move the needle for me one way or the other.. He's a Poor mans Lamar Jackson.. I think If I remember correctly they were team mates in HS or College... I can't remember which.. They kind of play the same style.. But he's no LJ for sure..
