The Official Browns vs Bengals Game 1 Thread

Immediately cut Shitty Szmyt and find a free agent kicker.
The defense and Flacco did enough to win today.
A dog shit kicker and receivers who like to play volleyball killed us.

Aside from the second half surge from our DLine I thought we got whipped upfront both sides of the ball. There was penetration all game and we couldn’t get any ground game going. You rarely win if that is the case but we had multiple opportunities. It was our mistakes (drops and missed kicked) vs their stupidity not running the ball.
I don’t think we are bad enough to have a top 5 pick this year, but this is still in my opinion a double digit loss team.

This was the first year I opted to skip Sunday Ticket and just try my luck finding streams online. I finally hit my breaking point of not paying all that money for the product we keep getting on the field.
i was sure as shit proven right today. This is a haunt your dreams level loss for the team. They won is essentially every major category except the final score

The BenGals couldn't run the ball, I don't understand your take here. Chase Brown 21 carries ,43 yards.
Crucial drops by the Browns cost them the game. Turned 2 catches into 2 INTs. Horrible

he did well in the first half and then Bengals did Bengal type things and decided to throw on us when Myles Garrett was planting flags the second half. Early second half they came out slinging the ball
Chase Brown had last five carries…5 carries -11 yards when everyone in the world knew they were running.
they definitely had more success running

I actually went to the game today. But if you need good streaming sites, DM me.

I won't argue much with fellow fans. I was at the game, the BenGals didn't make many plays at all.
If the Browns play the run next week as well as they played it today, they can upset the Ratbirds.

Are you watching Henry and Jackson tonight? They are different breeds of cats one with power and speed and the other with slickness and speed.

The defense will keep us competitive in many games, the lack of playmakers on offense will be a perpetual struggle though.

Samson reminds of Greg Pruitt.
There really was no running room for the RB's today. Fortunately we didn't give up any room either (after their 1st drive).
Tillman did fairly well but had two drops I think. We all know what happened to one of 'em?
Fannin jr did really well. But he also chipped in with a costly drop.
Flacco did a nice job. The INT's weren't on him.
Really good job by the D (after the 1st drive).
Did yaz see Sanders go over and console the Kicker? He certainly had a bad 2nd half. Of course, we all want to can the new kicker. Certainly he'll never have an easier kick then he had today. A sunny, mild, calm September day in Cleveland. In one replay they showed, you could read his lips as the kick was in the air, Oh Come On! Well, right there you can tell he's a rookie. You're supposed to say, Draw Ball Draw! Or, Get Left!
I wouldn't cut him just yet. Unless you've been seeing inconsistency in TC and/or practice. He's a rookie. I know that he just lost us a home divisional game by missing two easy kicks. But he knows that too. He was on the top of the world after making the team over the veteran incumbent. And now he's on the bottom of the world, which feels like shit. So it's now that we find out if he has the ability to learn and grow from this. He didn't miss 'em by much. I'm pulling for him...now that I've gotten over wanting to strangle him.

I didn’t get to watch most of the game due to a work gig, but l kept tabs as best l could with the ESPN app. However, l got to work with my kid this weekend and she was more fired up about the game than l was, haha. She went so far as to sign up for a free FUBO trial so that she could watch it on her phone.
We had a lull in the work action around the time the 4th quarter rolled around and l got to watch it with her on her phone. That was my biggest takeaway. I’m largely responsible for her Browns fandom just like my dad was largely responsible for mine, and we got to share another Browns meltdown together, lol. Ahh memories.
I’m supposed to remind her to cancel the subscription so she doesn’t get charged.

Some of my musings from the game. Not sure how much of this stuff made the broadcast.
There was a fade Burrow tried to hit (i think) Chase with in the first half. Denzel Ward's coverage was absolutely perfect. He had his head turned to QB when he recognized the route 5 yards upfield, he then turned his body around to keep up with the sprint and maintained position on Chase's shoulder. The ball wasn't catchable, but that really stuck out to me.
Newsome looked sketchy to me first half but then had that huge play where he pushed the receiver out to prevent a 3rd down conversion.
Our interior OL is a problem in pass protection. Seemed like every time Flacco was pressured, it came from the guards or center letting someone through easy. Bitonio got smoked a couple times. This is probably why our run game looked so anemic. Sampson was a pleasant surprise, but I honestly can't see Judkins making that big of a difference if the blocking is this bad.

While it's questionable if Jesus Christ can hit a curveball, I can guarantee he could not run behind that line today.
Four of the five starters are on their last year of their current contracts. There might be one reserve today that could slide into a starting job to replace them (Luke Wypler to replace Ethan Pocic). Yikes.

I didn’t see stretch plays, I saw one toss/pitch, I saw what looked like one counter. The run calls were unimaginative. Maybe that didn’t matter because the LOS was a yard or two behind the original LOS within a second.

I was kinda' hoping that our OL coaching change would make a substantial difference in our OL play. But it didn't look any better at making room for runners.
