Cleveland B(c)rowns: the best losers in the NFL

The Browns Board

  • Over the last 20 years, the Browns are the losingist team in the NFL and that is a fact

They are the very best at figuring out new ways to lose

Sunday's game was just another new way to lose: when I thought I had seen them all.

for everything they do right, they do something wrong

until they figure out how to not beat themselves, they will continue to be clowns

  • Welcome to the Board qmed. I was just telling someone about the Dwayne Rudd helmet game yesterday. Ahh memories of past gut wrenching Browns losses.

Typically Browns fans refrain from calling them clowns, no matter how much they deserve it. What’s up with that?

And the Browns continue to revolve in the same old place causing the latter two in that list to continue as is.???

  • I was born in 1982. The Cleveland Indians of my early childhood were horrendous.

In the early 90s, they started to turn the corner. Then the construction of Jacob's Field took place. The team moved into the Jake, got new uniforms and all of the sudden were nipping at the heels of the White Sox in the strike shortened 1994 season. Then in 1995, they beat the brakes off the AL and had a five year run of two World Series Appearances and one of the greatest offensive line ups Major League Baseball has ever known.

Since the move to Jacob's Field, the Indians have won 12 AL Central Titles, made the playoffs 14 times, and played in four World Series. The Indians aren't the best team in baseball in the last 31 years, but they're a hell of a lot better than the teams of my childhood.

Maybe this is being a fan through the eyes of a child, but sometimes a new stadium can breath life into a franchise. I think that can happen with the Browns.

And in the event that I'm wrong, then I'll offer this...at some point, the math/stats are in the Browns' favor. They can't be this inept forever.

I think we all said this somewhere around 2009/10. Still waiting, although there were a few decent teams.

I still maintain they should axe DePodesta and see if AB is truly a decent GM. People complain about Stefanski, but ignore a guy who's in the front office that has been a part of two tank jobs.

I still can't believe no O linemen were drafted. I guess analytics said they didn't need any.

I'm still somewhat optimistic about this season. The rookies look promising.

Sunday's game was just another new way to lose: when I thought I had seen them all.  You've never seen a team lose because of missed kick(s) before?  The last time we played the 49'ers we won because they missed a FG at the end of the game.  There's nothing new about it.

for everything they do right, they do something wrong

until they figure out how to not beat themselves, they will continue to be clowns

In game one, we did not look like clowns.

I would venture to say over the last 30 years.

After the great Bernie years, they sucked most of 90’s. One winning season from 1990 to 1995.
They simply picked up where they left off when they returned.

Nah, he only missed by a little bit.  Hopkins turned into a clown.  He was missing them by a mile.  On the scoreboard a miss is a miss...but the evaluation process is a bit different.  If I were in charge, I'd be looking to put a kicker on the PS.
