The Official Browns vs. Packers Game 3 Thread

Didn't expect us to come out with a win today. Our offense is absolutely horrendous, mostly due to shitty line play. If we had lost, I am guessing that Garrett would have been demanding a trade before dinner.

The blocked FG was the key. The offense was pitiful.
A win is a win, but....the Browns, in those uniforms, look like runny, half-melted hershey's kisses on a hot day.
The defense rocks, the secondary played better than I expected.
Ironically, the Bucs had their FG blocked, and returned for a TD,. giving the Jets a one point lead.
Of course, Baker led them right down the field, they kicked a FG and won in the last few seconds.
Flacco played like he is 80 yrs old....

Shit, if QB play was 30% better today this was a 10+ point win. We’ve seen rookies have awesome seasons, it’s time to see what it looks like.

Hoo-Ray for Andre The Smurf!
So glad to see him be able to bounce back from that 2nd half against Cincy.
Our 1st play from scrimmage...we had 2 guys in motion and Flacco kept yelling STOP to Judy until he finally figured out Flacco was talking to him and stopped. They both had to come to a stop or we'd have been flagged.
Good game by the D. (again!) Delpit read the QB, let the 1st crosser go and moved toward the 2nd crosser and caught the ball thrown towards him. Nice play! And he got off the ground and ran 25 yards with it. Nice play!
Schwesinger & Delpit lead the team in tackles. DLine played well.
Of course our offense gets a 1st and goal from around the 2 yard line and we go backwards.
Winding up with a FG.
Fortunately we got in pretty much that same position again and Judkins got us the TD. He fought hard all day long. Would've been nice if he could've gotten a few more yards to break the 100 mark for the first time.
Fannin had another good outing catching and adding YAC. Njoku helped us. Tillman had 3 catches and drew a couple of PI and/or D-Holding calls.
Joe floated one out there for OutOn Bond...but he's such a small target to hit. Wypler had a Target.
Great job with the FG block. Looked to me like Ward got a piece of it.
Great job by the offense, with 12 seconds left and no TO's, to get a pass completed over the middle and got up to the line of scrimmage, got set, and got it spiked for a shot at the FG. The offense didn't do a whole lot yesterday, but that last pass and spike within 12 seconds was no easy thing to do.
Again, Hoo-Ray for Andre!
It's a little odd for us...stealing victory from the jaws of defeat.

Of course the Browns get a win over one of the best teams in the NFL and the King of the Baker Circle Jerk Club has to talk about the Bucs. "But remember 2020?"

My favorite part was the Browns actually executing situational Football to perfection before the final kick and getting the spike down in time... Say what you want about Flacco.. But his experience was invaluable yesterday and made the plays that needed to be made...

I've been a critic of Delpit's communication skills in recent years - but he's playing some damn good football behind the impressive group up front relentlessly hurrying the passer! Glad to see this! The kicker (Andre Szmyt) scored 7 of the 13 points. Judkins also made a profound difference in the improvement of yards per carry from the RB position early-on this year. A lot to feel good about in terms of how they closed the game. Even better, it was at home!
Seeing Joe Flacco reading progressions like his processor is on daylight savings re-confirmed what the Colts already confirmed last year. Even worse, the plan at OT for the 3rd year in a row ended the day with neither playing (Jones & Conklin). I sincerely hope we're not going to draft multiple QBs again next year especially if we never see what we have in either of the 2 they drafted this year. If the plan was in round 3 with QB - how much more time do they waste on a guy too old for the speed of the game mentally & physically? However, it's easy for me to say - when I'm not the QB staring at Micah Parsons lining up against whatever the Browns are putting out there at OT.

It's a shame our last memories of Flacco, as a Brownie, won't be the magical 2023 season, but the oofs we see and feel this season.

Reminds me of my year as a student at UT - Austin right after Vietnam Service when the Aggies beat UT. Went to T-day dinner with my Longhorn cousins and told them I had decided to stop being an Aggie and be a Longhorn instead. After I got all kinds of claps and attaboys I announced that, "Yep, I'm just so used to being a loser, I just had to go to the other side." Sweet revenge!!??

quote: Mason Graham recorded a 43% pass rush win rate against the Packers today. Average for a defensive tackle is 9%.
And we need our DL to be dominant in the worst way. Our offense cannot score points. We've got to pressure the passer and keep the score low in order to have a chance at winning. It sucks having to count on the D every week. I feel for the defensive players. It must get discouraging knowing that your offense sucks.
Of course the offense is playing with backup Tackles again...so, that's not going to make a QB comfortable in the pocket. It's a difficult situation that we're in. Going into the next draft we have to target offensive tackles...but we may have to draft our QB of the future, which might eat up both 1st round picks. Ideally we'd like (at least) one of those 1st rounders used on a LT. So on the one hand, we want to win games and try and make the playoffs...which most probably means staying with Flacco. But on the other side we need to see if Gabriel is the answer or not.
We should be 2-1 right now. Andre The Smurf giveth, and Andre The Smurf giveth away.

We have Bitonio playing injured and hurt. Whats Conklin’s story? Every year it is something. The other side - maybe Jones is too big and doesn’t move well enough and can’t bend enough to absorb weird collisions? Or am I being too harsh?
We will select a QB early next year. Outside of a slot corner, Our defense is set. We need a #1 WR. Juedy is an overpaid 2 and Ced Tillman lacks consistency. An Offensive tackle will be a priority.
Can we swap Njoku for an offensive line piece? Yes he is an extension of the offensive line, but I don’t think he will be back and I’m going to harp on this but while the offensive line needs to be addressed I don’t want to see 3 or 4 rookies. We aren’t doing anything this year. Let’s try not to make 2026 another rebuilding year

Jones was hit with a dirty low blow that should've been flagged yesterday. I think 2026 first round picks will be QB and LT, Fannin isn't a good enough blocker yet to dispense with Njoku especially with the current tackle play.

Agree. Whether just partially his fault If we saw more playaction deep shot Joe I’d say keep him in but we are seeing checkdown and scrambling Joe. That’s not going to save this regime. Joe or Kenny were brought in to save this regime and avoid another 3-14 season that we were almost assured with a rookie starting.
Based on early returns I don’t think we are better off with Joe. I think in back of the FOs minds though if we move to Gabriel we will hear the Put Shedeur in crowd again. It is less with a veteran like Joe but the moment Gabriel struggles a little we will bring that circus back

the defender went low on him, I think most linemen would have left the game, it sucks cause i was really looking forward to watching him play at his natural position
