It's a shame our last memories of Flacco, as a Brownie, won't be the magical 2023 season, but the oofs we see and feel this season.

lol, One thing that would help,m Kev quit calling for flacco to do a roll out, it is so tough to watch

Given the lack of pass pro, a designed roll was actually a pretty solid idea.

Jones is too big and doesn’t move well enough and can’t bend enough to absorb weird collisions?

the defender went low on him, I think most linemen would have left the game, it sucks cause i was really looking forward to watching him play at his natural position

Three straight years with season ending leg injuries.  3/3 being incredibly unlucky

I've been a critic of Delpit's communication skills in recent years - but he's playing some damn good football behind the impressive group up front relentlessly hurrying the passer!  Glad to see this!  The kicker (Andre Szmyt) scored 7 of the 13 points.  Judkins also made a profound difference in the improvement of yards per carry from the RB position early-on this year. A lot to feel good about in terms of how they closed the game.  Even better, it was at home!

Seeing Joe Flacco reading progressions like his processor is on daylight savings re-confirmed what the Colts already confirmed last year.  Even worse, the plan at OT for the 3rd year in a row ended the day with neither playing (Jones & Conklin).  I sincerely hope we're not going to draft multiple QBs again next year especially if we never see what we have in either of the 2 they drafted this year.  If the plan was in round 3 with QB - how much more time do they waste on a guy too old for the speed of the game mentally & physically? However, it's easy for me to say - when I'm not the QB staring at Micah Parsons lining up against whatever the Browns are putting out there at OT.

It's a shame our last memories of Flacco, as a Brownie, won't be the magical 2023 season, but the oofs we see and feel this season.

Agreed!  I say we give him the start with a quick hook this week.  Both Gabriel & Flacco practice as the starter with the game plan this week.  The future is here.  BTW, I watched Klubnik lose to Syracuse this week.  He's 1-3 for anyone thinking he's a football messiah. I say this now as nicely as I can DRAFT A FOCKING TACKLE IN ROUND 1.  It's time!!!

  • Joe is doing his job. It’s not a perfect job. He missed a read, a TD to Bond on the flea flicker screen(which was a nice play design)

He also missed Bond again down the sideline. With both starting tackles out, rookies all over the field, we are fortunate to be 1-2, with a shot to go 2-2 against Detroit.

These missed chances/reads will be reduced with practice and reps. Especially Bond who was a later addition to the squad.

This draft looks like one of the better ones.. Quinshon Judkins looks more like a 1st round talent.
Schwesinger is so impressive. Fannin, Sampson….

With that really bad luck - he doesn't have much ability to bend any more at all.  There's reasons nobody took him until round 4 - now we compound that with he can't ever stay healthy.  Unfortunately, keeping Conklin healthy enough to rely on hasn't been any easier.

  • Gotta presume the extra wear&tear Dawand put on his ligaments & tendons by being too large most of his OSU career predicted this.  Sure, he was in great shape that first year as a pro - but looks like by then the damage had been done.

Another career cut short to injury... Mother Nature always bats last, nobody's Built Different.

  • Look, I'll concede switching QB's after a win isn't the move.

But despite below average O-Line play, mediocre WR core, etc Joe has looked totally cooked out there. I'm not even being funny that I felt bad for the dude on some of those design roll-outs, it looked like my dad during the Turkey Bowl. His raw QBR (which IMO is more accurate) is 30th only behind the two rookies Ward and JJ. For context, the other senior citizen Aaron Rodgers is 20th.

LB's are sitting on underneath routes and feasting on the reality that Joe just isn't making the intermediate to long throws. It's a big problem, and we won in absolute spite of QB play. I'm very hard pressed, rookie or not, to imagine how competitive this team could be with someone who has a little more elusive ability and could even raise the bar by 30%.

I agree. Nothing to lose here when you already have a known QB unable to function behind a bad OL.

And it has to be this week or after the Vikings across the pond. Definitely does not make sense to put the rookie in there in that situation.

You guys need to start him over Flacco. Flacco is bad.

  • Of course the Browns get a win over one of the best teams in the NFL and the King of the Baker Circle Jerk Club has to talk about the Bucs. "But remember 2020?"

Well, ya could lose the locker room.  We want Gabriel to come in with the support of the team.

I think you're mixing up not only the type of designed movement here, but also why.

Rolling out for half field fields on a designed QB sprint is a classic play that offenses have done for decades with QBs that aren't what we would define as modern athletes.

  • In a perfect world, the Browns first three draft picks in 2026 (two firsts, one second) should be some combination of QB, Left Tackle and Cornerback.

I like Dawand Jones, but you absolutely cannot count on Dawand Jones. I feel bad for the kid, but he's a free agent after next season. 3 for 3 on season-ending leg injuries.

Flacco should never leave the pocket, I swear i have never seen him complete a pass with us doing so
