I think haslam doesn't have the nads to make a decision on firing Stepanski, he'd have to admit he made a mistake. The Browns need a leader, to inspire the team, fool defenses with his playcalling, if he is playcalling, and be able to have a personality when interviewed. Has there ever been a more boring head coach of the Browns? ever?

Yes, BB was more boring for sure. Remember, basically his only friend was the late Casey Coleman.

I do think Stefanski & AB get another year, as crazy as it sounds to many. I think Haslam knows the DW signing put the team in peril ( hindsight of course).

    I tend to agree.

I think the fruits, rotten fruits, of the Watson trade are starting to show.

  • I have some serious doubts that Stefanski makes it to 2026.

They might be putting on a brave face in Berea about knowing they are rebuilding the team, but cracks are already starting to show between Stefanski and Berry. I just can't see the team losing 12+ games again and not becoming a toxic environment where "unnamed sources" are telling the world that the locker room is fed up and/or gave up.

If they lose to this even worse, even more fractured Dolphins team Sunday fans are going to be LOUDLY angry at the stadium.

Ok, so I'm out of town & not able to keep up with Browns news like at home.

Has there been reports of "unnamed sources" being upset or is it a Mary Kay Cabot/Tony Grossi speculation?

One thing the Browns have done well is keeping "the noise" in the building, handling things internally for the most part.

I, and others have mentioned Haslam likes "yes men," so firing Stefanski wouldn't really make a difference IMHO.

It hasn't gotten to the point where "unnamed sources" are talking, yet... but national people have been coming to Stefanski's defense, and Myles and Grant Delpit have both said things the last few days that aren't exactly painting a rosy picture...

We all knew that the first six games were going to be brutal. A national guy mentioned the other day that the Browns first six games was "the hardest schedule stretch he's seen in twenty years." It's not so much the record, it's now we got there that seems to be concerning people. And if the Browns lose Sunday to a team in complete free-fall like the Dolphins, shit is going to get real around here.

See, that's the weirdest thing to me, that the national reporters speculate/break stories. It was always the local reporters in Cleveland that got the scoops when I was much younger.

I get that times have changed, it's an instant news era we live in. Jason LaCanfora, Ian Rappaport for example, shouldn't have first dibs on the stories, and often they're wrong, simply speculating. If memory serves me correctly, LaCanfora "broke" a story on the Browns last year that was totally wrong.

    ...so now it's the stadium's fault!   🙂

One never knows what Jimmuh will do.  Stef could get a pass because he's basically screwed on offensive personnel.  Or he could be fired this Monday, or bye week Monday.  Making Schwartz HC and Reese calling plays.  Trigguh Finguh Jimmuh  ??

  • OT:

I might be talking out my ass and it’s late but Ohio State has better WRs, LBs, OTs, QB

Are they though? What surprised me most this off season is that they didn't in my view.

When you make the decision to write off your three 1st rounder and change investment, you have to tear off the band-aid. I am on record stating as much at the time of the trade. That means moving as many players you can get value out of.

Instead, they kept all the pieces and went for some half-assed soft landing. Sure, it didn't help that Myles asked for a trade, but they also kept Ward, and I am sure there are other players at the end of or past their prime they could have gotten value out of. Now we are watching a team that we already knew at the start of the season was not going to contend for the post season. All the while, the remaining value of potential trade pieces is diminishing. That doesn't bode well for the seasons to come.

  • It’s a pretty thin map this week. That’s how it goes when a couple 1-5 teams square off. Only so many people wanna watch that crap. Heck, even Hawaii isn’t tuning in. I thought they might have some interest in the battle of Hawaiian QBs, but apparently not.

Most of Ohio gets the game, save for us SOhioans and my forsaken homies in Van Wert. There’s a thin strip of NW WV that gets the game as well. NWWV sounds like a hip hop group. Straight outta Appalachia!

And about half of FL gets the game, mostly the southern parts, although more of the Atlantic coast gets it than the Gulf coast. It appears Lake Okeechobee gets the game. It’s the 8th largest freshwater lake in the 50 states by square miles but is very shallow having an average depth of just under 9 feet.

Yeah, I think what you are alluding to is probably more  accurate... not so much a "rebuild" but a "retool".

Or at least that is what they are telling themselves. Not a "tear down to the foundation" rebuild, but a half-assed "let's retool on the fly" situation, I guess. On one point, I think the front office is building towards Brookpark - but if that's true, why didn't they trade Myles, Ward, etc last off-season?

  • The team that loses this game WILL fire their coach

  • So...Miami hasn't given up less than 20 points this season and we can't score 20 this season....an enigma wrapped in a mystery.

IMO, the thinking at the time was, "THIS is the missing piece to the championship title chases".  It was a win now atmosphere.

  • Here's our WR's for the Dolphins game as of Friday night.  [Gulp]  And Larvadain might not be available.  As for TE help, there's only Fannin and Whiteheart.
