He's tanking to avoid the Browns.?
Yeah, the Browns and Jets are scaring all the top QB prospects back to college next year.
-
I wouldn’t want to go to either team. Plus, the money they made in college is pretty good
I'm hoping this is a plus that comes out of NIL in college - and it appears it is - that QBs stay in college for an additional season more consistently now.

Some of them are getting middle and bottom of the first round money. Carson Beck 4.6M.
with the way college programs are throwing out coaches buyout money it is just going to get more lucrative.

Didn't the TCUN give Underwood a shitload of money just to commit?

So I'm pretty much on the "Get Mendoza if you can but if not invest heavily on the offense this upcoming off-season" train.
As much as I like Ty Simpson, he should go back to school. If he comes out, I can't get behind using a high pick on a QB with roughly 15 or so college starts.
I want the Browns to take two starting caliber OLinemen in the upcoming draft. When I say starting caliber, I mean guys who can start sooner than later. Not developmental guys. (Unless they want to take a third guy later) I also agree with @sdbacker80, the Browns need to bring in through trade or free agency a starting vet for the OLine next season. Bitonio one would think is retiring after the season, I would offer Teller a three year extension for continuity. He's still playing well.
Do the same with the Wide Receivers. Hypothetically, adding Ohio State's Carnell Tate early and say Texas A&Ms KC Concepcion a few rounds later would help the offense get more dynamic.
If you can't get Mendoza, you could at least load up on offense on the line and in the WR room so the guy you do get in 2027 isn't coming into a bad situation.

If we aren’t on a QB. Picks 1/1/2 should be OL,WR,OL. I’d dangle the 3rd round pick for a veteran Olineman and then I absolutely agree on Teller we need him back. If you can trade back and secure some ammo for next years QB draft class all the better.
you can’t have 60 percent of your line having never played an NFL snap.
You need a QB for 26. Who and what no clue.
edit: don’t laugh 26 QB Watson with a new play caller -

I see 3M EACH year just from TCUN and that doesn’t account for deals outside of the university.

And how about when 1 Harbaugh brother in Baltimore saved another Harbaugh brother with Defensive Coaches from the Ratbird scheme. Before that Jim Harbaugh was O for Urban Meyer. After that, Mike MacDonald was hired off Baltimore's staff onto Jim's Staff as DC in Ann Arbor. Once he was hired as a HC in the NFL, it was Jesse Minter's turn to get hired as the DC at TCUN. After he went with Jim Harbaugh to be DC of the Chargers - Ratbird Defensive Asst - Don "Wink" Martindale was hired as DC. Who's the farm club here - the Ratbirds or TCUN? That's a pretty complicated scheme that took NFL teams a while to crack. It was actually developed by Martindale but MacDonald and Minter seemed to use it more efficiently.
I don't think this is against any rules - but TCUN likes to challenge the boundaries with only wrist slaps and unofficial asterisks for cheating...

Browns current first round picks are #6 and 22.

We found Wyatt Teller for a fifth round pick. I’d take a shade under that for a fourth
Some teams have fire sales... I get it..

I agree Definitely a thin market but 80 or 100 percent turnover with this oline and three or four of which being incoming rookies replacing those guys is a recipe for disaster. Keeping Teller and adding another experienced piece is a must.

I’ll give the weasels some credit they have had some foundational pieces to build a defense. Advanced “scouting” cheating department to aid that too. They have been stout upfront the last 4-5 years and have played smart in secondary. This year I think is another story.
Winks all out blitz scheme will be interesting. Sayin can feast with quick throws and of course OSU has generational talent on the outside and Michigan (watch the USC game) doesn’t tackle well this season and has had some communication issues in the secondary.

Considering he’s a free agent when this season ends, yes, just you.

Gorka, you want to help him out with an idea here? We know how much you adore talking about the Browns. The last time they went 11-5 - you were so excited we saw you about 3 times in here that season. That said, 1 of those visits was because you wanted to bellyache that Myles Garrett won Defensive Player of the Year over your TJ Watt...

By beating the Raiders we went backwards in the Fernando sweepstakes. We could wind up in a situation where it would take both of our #1's to get him. We really need at least one of those #1's to be OL or WR.

Depends on how much they like him, who ends up ahead of us and if the Jets want him - because they have tons of high picks.
Best case scenario is that Sanders shows the Browns enough to let him start next season and you use the picks to build up the offense, and if he doesn't seem to be the guy go after a QB in what should/could be a deep QB class in the '27 Draft.

Per the part in bold above - well said. TN only has 1 win; and I'm guessing their 1st overall pick from this year isn't looking any better than Shedeur Sanders or Dylan Gabriel. However, he's had more opportunities to do so and their HC got fired for the results.
I think the Mendoza ship has already sailed. The 3 consecutive 1st round picks the Browns previously gave up as well as the 2 second round picks could have had the Browns deeper/younger at OL and better at WR. The thought of getting careless with 1st round picks again could park this team right where it's at. Not only that, the rookie QB would be shark bait in bloody water. It would be a culture shock to what Mendoza is used to at Indiana.
