I remember when Oklahoma & Nebraska was a huge rivalry; so much so that it helped Husker RB Johnny Rodgers would win the Heisman over Oklahoma's Greg Pruitt in 1971.  Of course, Nebraska had a dominating Defense that helped them win back to back National Titles in 1970 (shared with Texas) & 1971.  Those were their 1st 2 National Titles.

I hate seeing rivalries and realignments ruin great traditions like this rivalry used to be.  Some funny things to remember about it. While Barry Switzer would get investigated for anything (ie; sneezing loud) by the NCAA -  Tom Osborne looked like a soft spoken guy with manners and social etiquette that shook all the right hands, etc - a bunch of his players arrested in the span as well as rumors swirling a lot of his players were getting all roided up.  The NCAA only had eyes Switzer recruit Brian Bosworth.  If they made a movie about it all - one would have to wonder if it was meant to be a comedy or really a non-fiction story.

Once upon a time Penn State vrs Pitt was a huge attraction.  Maybe I'm just getting old enough to notice a lot of great things can go away; but the BCS playoffs were a lot of fun to watch last year.

Today, has some interesting games.  At Noon on ESPN Utah at Kansas - Utah has 2 Tackles that are good NFL prospects RT Spencer Fano (1st round projection). Unfortunately LT Caleb Lomu is only a red-shirt soph that is not going to enter the draft. (he is rumored by some to be the #1 rated LT in college football next season fwiw).

At 3:30 Georgia Tech vs Georgia - this was a really exciting game last year that Georgia won 44-42 in the 8th OT.   As we've learned - records don't matter this time of year.

7:30 pm on ABC - Texas A&M visits Texas which will undoubtedly capture a lot of attention this evening in the Lone Star state, SEC territory and college football fans pretty much all over the country. It will feature NFL prospects galore and it could have a significant say in what QB gets the Heisman as well as which of these teams will make it to the Playoffs.

The Lane Kiffin saga might distract Ole Miss.

Sounds like Florida & LSU have been in contact with Kiffin's agents, maybe Kiffin himself recently, throwing up to $90 million at him.

Ah yes, the "mighty SEC" poaching within the conference during the season. CFB has really changed, not for the better.

This may sound funny at first but I bet a guy like Tim Tebow could be just as effective as a HC as Lane Kiffin anywhere in the SEC.  He's a competitive that could win over a lot of top recruits.  He's also a former leader on and off the field at Florida. He'd be able to hire the right Coordinators IMO. All that said, my biggest concern with him is if he would want to commit the time necessary to do it.

Right, kind of like how Herm Edwards did at Arizona State. They moved on from him but his name alone drew some good talent there, & they won the Big 12 soon after he was fired.

I keep hearing that WR KC Concepcion is shooting up the mock drafts - a guy I was hoping we could grab at say the top of the third round is now being talked about as a fringe first rounder. Kid is electric… just ran for a eight yard touchdown on an end around vs Texas.

DOM GUMMIT!   I was pulling for you guy Aggies!   It's tough to go undefeated man.  Ohio State won the National Championship in spite of 2 losses. Key word in that sentence is "spite."  I wonder if they beat Michigan if they would have entered into the playoffs with the same focus and resolve needed to win it all.

Kind of a Browns thing too?

So now what? A & M will be in, but you know the SEC hype show will push Texas in.

We’re settled in for The Game. My gf is a big Michigan fan and her oldest kid is at the Big House for the game.

Who would you pass up since the only one likely to lose in 1-12 is A&M. Maybe a 3 loss Bama if they lose the SEC Championship game. But then you pass up Utah and Vandy who are both 2 loss teams. It would be a travesty to see a 3 loss team put above them as well as Bama who beat Georgia already. And Bama will push just as hard as Texas to remain in too if they lose. And do you punish Bama for getting to the SEC Championship and then losing? I damn sure would not.

EDIT-same applies to BYU who currently is 11-1. Do you pass them up with 2 losses if they lose to Texas Tech in the Big 12 CG?

Brian Wilson wasn't thinking about scUM fans... and didn't he end up sitting around in a sand box or something? ?

He kicked it this year man, it’s very sad. He was a musical genius, but yeah, questionably sane.
