Bey came to school on signing day morning wearing all OSU gear, all the swag at his table was OSU, the now-deleted Insta posts were all OSU.. It's real.  Day presented the plan they created to utilize him in the offense & obviously that was more impactful than the others.  Sorry for the kid but at least he's keeping the drama behind closed doors bc this obviously wasnt his idea.

  • 12 is too many IMO. But I like the idea of award the top 4 with a bye (they are already playing an extra game this week). Over bringing in more 2/3 loss teams to a playoff

And sometimes as fans we wonder why many NFL rookies hit the wall midway through their 1st season.  These playoffs go about 4 weeks after the Conference Championships are concluded.  As soon as that's done - many of these kids play in a college all star game to catch the eyes of NFL scouts. When that's all completed many attend an intensified human performance training camp up until the NFL Combines.  Following that, they have NFL workouts for interested teams. Then comes the NFL draft immediately followed by rookie mini-camps/OTAs/addtl mini-camps followed by training camp followed by the NFL season.  There's really not much opportunity for a lot of rest and recuperation, which are essentials for improvements or at least maintenance in strength and conditioning.  It's walks a tight rope between performance enhancement and over training.

Before I go, don't forget Joe Weider's Oxygen Intake principle - breathing. ?

Yes,16 games now pushing 17 if they expand and this is without all start games that you mention here

After Texas gets penalized for playing Ohio State I don’t see a lot of big out of conference games being scheduled in the future.

What I think will happen.  They will end around the same time but expand the playoff but start the playoff sooner.  So you will see maybe two “warmup” out of conference games Ohio State vs Ball State and Missouri State instead of 3 or 4 non conference games and then your 9 conference games essentially taking away a scheduled game and add a playoff game.

That makes sense to me.  FWIW, the North Texas vrs USF game was on in the Tampa area. North Texas didn't just lose - this was the score depicted below.  More specifically, 1 more "Thank you sir, may I have another" and they're at Faber College in Dean Wormer's office hearing their football season is over and all their scholarships are on double secret probation. USF finished with 3 losses fwiw...

    image.png.9900845aab4461a050642a12ac26b7a4.png

To punish Texas for losing the opener at Ohio State by only a TD - is absurd; especially considering ESPN is saying that Alabama shouldn't be booted if they lose their Conference Championship to Georgia (and get a 3rd loss).  IMO, North Texas needed to be undefeated to make the CFP.

Agree.  And if James Madison wins (23 point favorite) and Duke beats Virginia you will could see James Madison over Texas as well.  JMU lost by two TDs to Louisville.  Louisville lost four games in the ACC this season.

when we had 4 teams the 5 and 6 teams were unfairly left out.

Now we have 12 and the 13/14 teams have issues with the selection process.

see where this going? Expand to 16 and now team 17 is unfairly sitting at home.

Good points - agreed!  I don't want more teams; so I hope there's some blowouts in the CFP.  Let's get back to remembering this is college football where once upon a time most/all of the strongest programs played Bowl Games and 1 program or 2 programs were awarded the Natty via the polls or split polls.   What is in tact is fine.

Texas isnt penalized for losing to Ohio State. Texas would be rightfully punished for losing to 4-8 Florida.  One of multiple equivalents would be Illinois, who was supposed to be a fringe playoff team this year.. but as if by magic, both OSU and Indiana put Illinois away. Texas could not.

Funny how the SEC looks for excuses when they have to compete in a landscape where everyone pays the athletes.. instead of just them.  Sure, it's a magical coincidence that the entire Alabama team under Saban always had a brand-new Charger, right?

I also think the whole Mendoza "heisman moment" vs penn state is completely ridiculous... The only reason the game was close in the first place is because Mendoza played poorly that game.

Unless worst loss is the top criteria I don’t agree.

the number 3 is killing them.

they beat Oklahoma, Vandy and Texas A&M.  They would be at 2 losses with wins over two playoff teams.

head to head and same number of losses as Oklahoma - I’d rank them ahead of Oklahoma.

same number of Ls as Notre Dame and common opponent Texas A&M- them too.

They are in the playoff if they would have scheduled Oklahoma State instead of Ohio State

Agree with everything else about the SEC and Mendoza

Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

Ohio State lost to a 5 loss Michigan team last year before winning the Natty despite 2 losses on the record right?

Also, Mendoza didn't have his go-to WR Sarratt in that game vrs Penn State so nit-pick away.

Well they were actually punished for losing to 4-8 Florida. If they had beaten Ohio State in Ohio like A&M beat  N. Dame in Indiana and Florida, they'd be in the CFP too. Or just beat Florida. Same result.

Simple question - would you object at all if A&M could beat Texas?  In fact, they should have taken care of business and finished Texas themselves at home; but did they?  Which one of these teams playing tonight is better than Texas?

How come Texas is getting zero credit for knocking off undefeated A&M at home?

Bottom line: none of the teams playing tonight deserve to make the CFP in lieu of Texas.  Am I right or wrong?

Them's the rules. Ranked Conference Champs from 5 conferences before anyone else, though if they are not in the top 12 they get slots 11 & 12. They did this to allay the objections of conferences all the way around. It was suggested by them all so no conference is left out unless no one in it is ranked. For example, if Duke beats Virginia for the ACC title, no one from the ACC goes because Duke is not in the top 25, but Virginia is. Higher ranked Miami, like A&M, did not qualify for the Championship game. It's fair because all agreed ahead of time that this is how it would work and all played knowing the rules. So to Texas, suck it up buttercups.?

Actually they were because of their 10-2 record which is why they are at 9 right now. Will the CFP punish Bama for losing the Championship game? Who knows.

And for Texas if they didn't want to be left out they should have known 3 defeat teams don't get in. Like I said though, will Bama be dropped if they lose to a team they beat. Don't know.

?  As for Bama, they're the only team that beat 2nd ranked Georgia so they shouldn't be punished for losing to the #2 team in the country in a Conference Championship Game if Georgia should win.

FWIW regarding Texas - their losses were to #1 Ohio State, #2 Georgia and the unranked Florida Gators.  I know you hate that team but they're getting screwed if they don't make it.  You like bringing up the Florida game - doesn't that give you confidence that A&M can beat Texas?

Bey's insta and twitter accounts were also taken over by his mom.. like a hostage situation.  This and the fact that he is eventually leaving regardless to OSU after his birthday [12/25] was confirmed on the one they forgot about - he commented on a tiktok.

My bet is Heupel just releases Bey from everything UT on 12/26 because UT wants people who want to be there, especially after the Nico situation.
