  • Why do people bring up the cutting of Bernie and still attempt to view it as some horrible decision.  Remind me, what team did he go on to as being a starter?  Not like the NFL in the 80s and early 90s had a different dynamic as far as top quality starting QBs compared to today.

BB was correct,  Bernie's skills had declined to the point he was no longer a viable starter

It was horrible because buttichump got po'd because Kosar changed the play, and it went for a touchdown. Kosar then went to the Cowboys, where he had to play in relief of butthead Troy Aikman, and they won and he got his Super Bowl ring. Kosar was dumped by buttichump after the tenth week of the season. And the Cowboys signed him quickly, and Kosar was brilliant in helping them to their superbowl. Buttichump dumped Kosar out of spite and bloated ego, to start Testaverde, the color blind interception thrower.

Dallas will be forever grateful to the man who stepped up to the proverbial plate when Troy Aikman was literally knocked out of the 1993 NFC Championship game with a concussion. Bernie Kosar's legendary sidearm produced a 42-yard touchdown pass to Alvin Harper that put the Cowboys up 35-14 and sealed the San

"In search of a ring, Kosar signed with Dallas to back up Troy Aikman. He not only got to be a part of a title run, but Kosar went 5-of-9 for 83 yards and a touchdown during the postseason. He even had the honor of handling the victory formation kneel down in their Super Bowl win over Buffalo."

  • after he left the Cowboys, he went to Miami.

He was very beaten up over the years it's true. And was never very mobile.

But he was one of a few most brilliant qb's I've ever watched play. And his love for the game was 100% on every snap. I love that in players.

If buttichump wasn't so butthurt, he could have kept Kosar as a backup, but it worked out great for Kosar, so .....

and he still could play. His last drive in the NFL....

In here, it's just the same guy that never wanted Baker Mayfield to be here until the day the Browns released him. Then he became his biggest fan.  Anyone that was here at the time remembering this today is honored in the subject heading as a hater.

I can't tell you how many posts we had to read about how much better one's Josh Allen was doing back when me and the rest of us were rooting for Baker Mayfield all the while he was a Cleveland Brown.  However, I can assure you they were adorable!

Because the person doing so is emotionally stuck at toddler, who honestly probably is in the early stages of cognitive decline.

We all hated how Kosar’s career in Cleveland ended, but his days as a starter ended when he was cut. Testerverde started for years after, with mixed results.

I am well aware that as a BACK UP he helped DAL in a key game to their SB that year.  Also well aware of his time in Miami as a BACK UP, including him basically calling the famous Marino fake spike TD pass.  Which if I recall Kosar and Danielson concocted many years earlier.

Point awarded for at least not linking a Facebook page.  EDIT: points deducted

He was not longer a capable starter.  He could never move to the roll of backup QB in CLE.  NFL fans already always love and want the backup when the team doesn't have a mid to higher end starter.  Imagine Browns fan and media with that guy being Kosar.  Every Testaverde miss would be a call for Kosar.

Be careful with all those inconvenient truths. He'll get his Knight in White Satin to expand the haters criteria.

Okay, it's officially changed right here from white satin to shiny tinfoil.

I would agree that Kosar’s skills were beginning to diminish, but it’s not like Belichik was a QB whisperer. He had more misses than hits when he drafted QB’s.

No question.  But not being a QB whisperer (would not expect a defense guy to be one anyway) doesn't preclude ability to identify when it's time to move off a player of any position.   Also something BB showed to be a master of throughout his time.

Classic stuff!  No doubt about it - he remembers you!  As we speak, Nickers is probably on his way to Lucas Oil Stadium to make sure everyone remembers him.

From a pure fan perspective, i did too (though not in person).  A good example as to why even moving Bernie to the backup roll on the depth chart was not a viable option.

I’m not sure about that, after all it took an injury to Drew Bledsoe before he put Tom Brady in at QB.

At that time Brady wasnt the Brady he became.  Bledsoe was the better QB at that point in time, and probably for a few years after.

I’m positive BB had regrets not starting Brady sooner.

Bledsoe is mid at best, and would make a decent 2nd stringer.

Dude was a multi year pro bowler.  Including having one of his best seasons the year after he had that nasty injury and Brady took over.

"Mid"...  isn't quite the word that should be used.
